I had gotten the IPSEC Xauth PSK vpn to work with my D3 with CM9, but now just got a D4. I flashed AOKP, and everything is fine and dandy, except my VPN will no longer connect. I read somewhere that a tun.ko kernel module is required to use the VPN, and was wondering if that module just isnt included with AOKP or if anyone else has had success with VPN on a ICS D4
Looks like I just answered my own question.. The tun.ko module is missing
Any chance of posting the module? If you have the cifs/nfs modules as well that would be awesome.
Also, not sure why, but the app "VPNC Widget" I use randomly disconnects me also, is that because I might not have a proper module or just because the whole setup is hackish?

I never actually got a module for it, so I'm just waiting for official ICS for the IPSEC Xauth support
I have found that Droid VPN has a tun.ko downloader app. It may be useful for you to see if they have one for your application. Hope it helps...

Does the app actually download a module now?

If I were to flash the Cyanogen ROM, could I add themes to it? If so, would it be only certain themes? Only themes that are compatible with that ROM?
Also, is there a WiFi tether app? I can't seem to figure it out. I see it in MoDaCos online kitchen, but nothing else.
Thanks!
You cannot flash any theme and expect everything to work well... you need a theme built for that ROM since each ROM is different... and you also have to take into consideration the version of the ROM... if the theme is not built for that version, you may lose some features...
And yes, CM does have both wired & wireless teather applications...
here is free wifi tether program.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
if u rooted with cyanogenmod5.0 u should be able to tether with no app. just simply plug in usb and click setting>wirless and networks> check box for internet tethering. Works like a charm
Thanks! Great info.

That has never worked for me, but the above listed app has always worked perfectly.
Does anyone know of any Galaxy S GT-I9000 ROM with full proxy support?
I've tried DocRom, which has proxy support that only works for the built-in browser and is enabled for both 3G and wifi.
I've also tried the beta Cyanogen ROM, which does appear to have prxy support, but still has issues (it's a beta, after all) and doesn't have Market included.
I've tried for hours trawling google and can't find anything. So, anyone any ideas?
Cheers.

I dont think any such rom is available. . . ryt now .. !! if you happen to find one do post the link .
Found an app on the market, ASProxy (alsubang.github.com/ASProxy/index.html), no reviews available, but claims to enable WiFi proxy support... I was desperate enough, so I decided to be the guinea pig and spend the cash ($3)... and it worked!!!
I think it must be the only solution - I've looked forever on the market and via google. I was expecting to need a new ROM for this feature, but a simple app sorted it out.

Seems to work for everything, at least on my Uni WiFi. There are some issues I don't really understand in the documentation, so some networks may have issues, but not mine.
I have come across a very minor problem. My WiFi connection isn't great and drops occassionally. After it reconnects I have to manually disable and re-enable the proxy service.
There's a free program you might want to try here before you shell out, sounds similar:

Hi All.
I need some help.....
I've recently installed the new Cisco Jabber apk. I've added a custom Kernel with TUN enabled and I'm running VPNC widget to connect. Nearly everything works perfectly and I now get calls from my work desk phone directly on my DHD even when at home or out and about.
My one problem though is that when I try to make a call instead of being given the option to use Jabber (Dial from my Cisco Number) or my mobile network to make the call it defaults to the mobile network and of course doent work?
I've tried changing the settings over and over again but cant get it to work properly? I have tried 3 or 4 different Roms now thinking that it may have been a problem with one of them but still nothing works? I'm now pretty much convinced that its a Gingerbread problem but dont want to downgrade back to 2.2 until I've checked...
I have a friend that has Jabber installed on his Desire and it works perfectly.
Has anyone managed to get it working fully on their DHD??? If so can you post your Rom and Kernel details please???
Thanks
A gentle bump..... its been weeks and I'm still no further forward. Have tried several 2.3 Roms but still not been able to get it working properly? Has anyone else had any better luck than me?
Any chance I can get the default Cisco Jabber APK from you? I'd like to try it on my G-Slate.

I had the same issue, I downloaded an alternative Dialer e.g. Dialer one, and since then it is working perferctly.

I don't know anything about iptables, but AtBat12 runs good on my CM9. What are you doing when it freezes? I don't watch videos or watch MLB.com games, so that may be a difference.
Sent from my Nook Color running ICS and Tapatalk
yes thats the difference i have a subscription so im trying to watch the games and i need iptables to beable to use orbot to work around the blackout
I don't know anything about MLBAtBat or orbot, but I can tell you that CM9 does have iptables. And keyodi's kernel added NAT support a couple updates ago.
Things like droidwall now work, when before they didn't. Now something is definitely still not 100% enabled, for instance you can track app's wifi data usage through settings, but droidwall can't log packet blocks. I understand that proxydroid works now, though. Is that what orbot does?
Would a VPN work for you? You're just trying to get around a local blackout, right? Try DroidVPN, it is a fast network that is free in market. You'll have to email them for a password, though.
Anyway, I am not doubting there's a problem, but it isn't because there aren't IPtables. They've been there for a long while.
i downloaded the current nightly from eyeballer and everything worked good with the proxy stuff but now i cant get google apps to work even after logging into google voice and mlb app wont find my location hmm ill keep working thanks for the help
Anyone know how to get Android native sip working, can't find it in phone settings...
Used an activity launcher but it didn't make any calls...

Not sure if there is a native client, but I know Zoiper works for me.
necroing this here, i just purchased two of these for my kids to play pokemon go. They have FI data only sim cards and typically use my PBX to place calls. The native sip functionality seems to be missing in the settings. I'm considering using a custom rom which will likely resolve the issue, but I've heard of issues with custom roms and pokemon go so I was trying to avoid this route.
Any input regarding the native sip functionality or specific roms for this phone that work fine with pokemon go AND have working native sip would be appreciated. if your reply is about using a third party app, i'm well aware that they work and such comments are not helpful. thanks.

If you have root, you might be able to replace the stock dialer with the latest google dialer. I'm trying this today and will let you know how it goes.

It would be listed as Google phone, not dialer , for some reason. It is in the open gapps package. And there are ways to add the needed framework and just the dialer if wanted.

i am pretty certain that the open gapps install script automaticly disables or removes the old version of apps that it installs., so dont think you need to use the de-bloat beforehand.
Now Im gonna try to install the gapps too to see how it goes.

It has google phone. But I do not know where or how to set up "sip" of "voip" on this dialer (or any for that matter)
EDIT:
google just showed me this. Dont know if it works for sure but , here it is.

I followed the diretions in that link, but I do not have the "sip account" setting available.

Great! thanks for running through this! If you're interested in testing sip functionality, PM me and i'll make you a sip account on my PBX. It's US Nationwide calling and Canada.
I'm assuming arm is the appropriate architecture, being that it's an arm cortex a53. I looked through each edition of gapps and I didnt see anything that included google phone. Should i assume it's simply built into any version of Nano and above?

I re-read my post. It was not clear.
I do not have the menu for sip account. So something is missing from phone app.
It is version 10. XXXX
on my other phone(blu life max) running slim-rom and open gapps. The phone app is version 9.XXXX and it has the sip menu
I will try to find the gapps I installed on that phone and see if it is v9 vs v10 that is the problem of missing menu first.
If I get the sip-menu then I can follow up with trying your pbx if you want.

Still same missing sip menu using older gapps with v9.XXX dialer. Must be some stock rom interference with the settings. If camera is not a problem for you then the cm13 port might be an option. OR . The zen rom port has working camera, and has not had too many reviews. I will try to add gapps to that one and see if it has sip menu.
It's not a huge deal, I'll just run csipsimple for now. The kids use the camera for catching Pokemon...
Offer for sip service if you want to play still stands regardless, just hit me up. I appreciate your help!

the zen-ui rom has finished and it does not have sip-menu. Installed the gapps on it and still missing the menu.
The slim-rom I have on my "life max" is same rom used to port to r1. So my last attempt is to flash that rom and see.
But my port is not fully working. Audio drops out and camera stops working. But if the sip menu (voip) is there, then it is a rom problem. But if the menu is still missing, that tells me it has to be a kernel problem. All the roms have same kernel.
UPDATE:
yes the sip-menu is shown with the slim-rom port.
so this would be the 'native" option.
I have not spent time working on the rom in a while. I was hopeing for community help to finish. But that has not happened.
My current position with the rom is, I beleive the main issue remaining is the audio/ media server stops and rom needs reboot. This server stop is seen in the logcat. But i do not know why yet. And after it stops the camera server becomes unstable, then it stops.
I have seen , but not tried yet. An app in playstore that is meant for addressing the problem of camera server stopping. It is supposd to be able to restart it with out restarting whole phone.
Im planning to keep slim-rom on for few days or more and explore this app as possible work-a-round
Uninstalling the stock phone app and trying to install Google Phone from apkmirror did NOT work. Don't try it; I was only able to restore a working phone app by restoring /system. Maybe something in build.prop is disabling this? I might look around and see if this is a possibility; CSipSimple works perfectly though if people need sip support, as others have said.

I took on trying to fix my lineage and slim ports because of this sip phone question.
I now have a solution for sip phone on stock rom.
It is same solution from before that did not work, I found so reason it did not work. Blu had intentionaly removed the permission to sip and voip.
so if still interested in getting sip without third party apps. Here is a recovery install zip, that adds the google dialer framework, apk, and needed /etc/permissions
there is warning in the gapps install about adding google dialer that is also relivent here. Default phone app must be set to this goole dialer and also recomend disable stock dialer.
Wow, you rock man! Thanks for your efforts on this!!
