I am not entirely sure, but it seems to me that I have lost some precision with the S-Pen after I updated to ICS. When I am writing I have a feeling that the drawn line is slightly off the "pencil point" then before, maybe only for a fraction of a millimeter which is affecting the text, it seems much worse now.
When I am writing something it seems a bit more "unnatural" then before.
The only calibration I have found so far is the left-right handed set-up and it is set-up correctly for me.
Anyone else notice this?
I too have noticed this, Although I cant compare it to GB because i flashed ICS within minutes of getting the Note.
I have googled for the calibration methods but none of them work, They all relate to turning on / off the auto rotation and tapping the pen in 4 corners.
Could really do with a proper screen calibration tool
My drawing is pretty pathetic at the best of times, but with this inaccuracy im getting bullied on Draw Something
There is app on Google Play Store with which you can off set Spen position on the screen. It's called Touchscreen tune. It's not free to make changes permanent but you can try it to see if it works for you.
So nothing for unrooted devices?
Has the JB update fixed this issue for those who have updated their firmware?
No, it hasn't fixed the issue however there is a program in google play that fixes it (albeit you have to pay for the full version). It is called touchscreentune (galaxy note) - you can change the offset of the tip and also change things like the sensitivity if the screen. I can confirm that it works on most XXLSZ ROMS with Philz (haven't checked it on pure samsung JB).
I have now purchased two different digitizer, and both of them suffer from inverted touch screen. It also seems to be off from being directly inverted.
Is there any rom, or fix for the scenario or app to resync the touch accuracy.
Thanks
Have the same problem. Tried two diffrent sellers and three different digitizers. The option and back buttons also don't work. Have you found a solution or someone who actually sells working ones?
I remember hearing about this issue before. I remember reading something about a manual calibration app from a Chinese android tablet that we tried to get working on here, but I don't think it worked out...
As for the buttons not working, do you mean that they work but aren't the correct function, or they just flat out don't do anything?
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile app
Same issue with my d-415
I Just installed a new LCD on my l90 and got the same results. The y- axis is inverted. Both the back and menu keys don't work at all. I did notice that when I rotate the screen the samex-axis is inverted . Which leads me to believe it to be a hardware issue and not in the firmware. Because the same inverted axis would move with the rotation right? ... I am going to do some more research. Probably disassemble and check over the connections with usb scope and see what I can't find. Let me know if you figure it out. Thanks!
I've started to have touch screen issues the past few days.
Any idea what may cause it?
Sometimes, when I touch the screen, say in settings, I touch one item, but a different item is selected somewhere randomly on the screen.
Happens in TWRP as well. If I select options to wipe, it will select others, and then it doesn't swipe over to execute the action.
No ideas? What would make touches appear where I don't touch, even on TWRP?
I tried the keyboard calibration on HTC's keyboard.
Any ideas? Screen protector?
It comes and goes.
I can't believe no one else is having this issue now.
I don't do stupid things with my phone, like drop it, put it in my pocket and sit on it, and wash it with soap and water.
Since I've started running Lollipop, it appears that my case is causing this issue. I've never had this problem before.
However, I updated my wife's phone to Lollipop Sense and now she is having the same issues with a different case.
Take the cases off, and they work more responsively.
I can only chalk this up to being a Lollipop issue, and hope it will be fixed soon.

I opened another thread about a similar issue I'm having after Lollipop. My gesture launch randomly stops working and I have to reboot. No other issues for me though. I have an anti-glare screen protector on mine, but had no issues before the update. I've thought about a factory reset to see if that would cure what ails.
I'm on tmo but have the same exact issues. This is what i've found so far...
I turned on the developer options and turned on show pointer. This will show you where the touches are landing.
If you scroll down slowly, you can see most of the touches are in line (up and down) and not random on the screen.
I've removed all programs that have screen overlays (screen filter, twilight etc)
I've removed the cases thinking they might be causing the issue, but removing them only slightly improved the issue I thought...
Sometimes its hard to reproduce the effect, its not consistent. So this leads me to believe that it could be a process that's running in the background that calls attention at the moment you're touching the screen, and then refocuses the screen to your point of contact. And in between it thinks you're moving your finger when you really aren't.
In any event, I can't find the exact cause of this. But, it definitely started after the update to lollipop. I had none of these issues before. I even got the phone exchanged because I believed the digitizer went bad or something. But this issue exists on my original phone, its replacement, and now on my wife's current phone and that phones replacement (across 4 phones).
I'm currently working on my wife's replacement (4 or 5 non-oem programs installed) and continue to have the problem. But it is not consistent as I can't readily reproduce it.
What i've done to try and learn more is when I see the screen pointer light up in random places, I keep pressure on the screen so I can observe where the screen is registering contact. It almost looks as if it's trying to pull down the shade. Whether it be because of the dual points of contact and it thinks we're swiping down, or because of another program that is stealing focus for whatever reason.
If anyone else has insights into this, please let us know as this is more than frustrating! I keep calling people in hanouts with a lot of people and they aren't happy about it lol.
Also for reference, we're using ADW ex launcher instead of Stock HTC Sense. But even when I remove ADW (uninstall) and run sense, it continues to happen. So it's not that.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue with the front facing camera. There's a couple people that had this issue as well, check the
mentions for SamsungSupport on Twitter a couple days back(at the time of this post)
There's even a video of it in action: https://twitter.com/Hired_Assassin5/status/918633351510200320
As you can see at the top, there's some major discoloration going on. It's almost like a negative image.
https://i.imgur.com/2ipVzgS.jpg
I got the phone on Sep 15th, release day. The camera was working fine up until around Oct 5th that I know of. Taking selfies with the dog, etc.
Well, I opened it up on the 12th, haven't used it for a while, and I noticed that issue you see in the first image. I contacted Samsung and they had me
go through the whole troubleshooting process, all the way to me factory resetting my device. Factory Reset, then skipped all the setup wizards
and went straight to testing the camera. Issue is still present!
So the next day, I went to my carrier store, they said they never seen that before. So they're ordering me a shipment to replace it, possible defect.
Well, that night, I decided to try and look deeper into the issue. Flashlight on camera lenses, didn't see anything. Then I remembered from previous
android phones, there's hardware codes you can enter into the Dialer, so I input *#0*#, which is the hardware testing screen.
It looks like this:
https://i.imgur.com/RhJD4WJ.jpg
So obviously, one of the options is "FRONT CAM". I thought I would "test" it. I clicked on it, and it was working fine! I said oh sh!t, WTH.
This is the screenshot of it:
https://i.imgur.com/2BiaA7U.jpg
Then I took the picture as well, and it turned out just fine, like a normal camera. Well when you tap the screen again, it backs out, and switches
into a different mode, or something. And well sure enough, that issue I was having in my main camera app showed up!
This is a screenshot of it:
https://i.imgur.com/kGgJDD1.jpg
Now this is where I'm wondering if the Geniuses and good people here at XDA can figure out.
If you notice in the first screenshot of the "test" https://i.imgur.com/2BiaA7U.jpg
It says SUB AP at the top left....
Then in the next one, the defective one or whatever https://i.imgur.com/kGgJDD1.jpg
It says SUB CC.
Does anyone know what those are, or what they stand for? And if possible, how can I get my camera app to go back to using the correct mode or whatever that is.
This issue happens in all camera apps, the Samsung default camera app, play store camera apps, etc.
Thanks.

I'm not having that issue *knocks on wood*
But it doesn't sound like a hardware issue though.
Sub AP, Sub CC are probably different Samsung settings not available to end users. Any advice I'd give is to back up, hard reset, test if problem still present, if problem fixed restore data.
When does the problem usually happen, in bright or low light?
What if you use the front camera "flash" does it still happen?

I originally thought it was a hardware issue, but seeing it function normally when I did the diagnostic testing, I knew it had to be
something that triggered the software to not work correctly.
the issue is still present no matter what settings I change. Changing resolution, flash on/off, picture size, HDR on/off/auto, all the settings
I can find, the issue is still exists.
EDIT: Is a hard rest the same as a Factory Reset?

have you tried using Odin and doing a fresh FW install?

Dam, that's unfortunate. That's 4 people now that have had this issue. I wonder how much worse it will get. Hopefully the new replacement doesn't have this issue.
It's weird because it was working fine for a few weeks, and then something happened. Not sure if it auto updated without me knowing and caused this issue.

sounds like they're sending you a replacement. make sure you are satisfied with the replacement because they might send you a refurb.

Nope, Samsung never got back to me. I just went to the Tmobile store and they were like, yep, never seen that before. So they overnight me a new one.
I just begun to have the same issue on my phone and I'm not happy after spending 1k on it. I'm going to my career tomorrow but unfortunately don't know I this will be resolved. Please Let me know what Samsung did for you.

can anyone advise on how to fix?
If you did not mistreat the device, dropped it or fiddle with system settings or something of the sort, warranty is the all time solution for these problems
Hey my note 8 front camera just experienced the same issue. I've talked to Samsung support, and frankly it seems like it is a hardware issue. It is recommended that you use Samsung Support to make a service request. Free shipping both ways, so if you can live without your phone for a week or two (or have a backup phone to use), that's the route I recommend people going.
Original Problem:
MENU / COMMON APPLICATION ( NATIVE) - CAMERA / VIDEO - CAMERA EFFECTS NOT WORKING
Problem found:
FRONT CAMERA FAIL
Solution:
REPLACED COMPONENT

Did you manage to find the cause of the problem?
My front selfie camera has the same problem!
sorry to raise up this issue again.. my s8+ is from Indonesia region, and facing the same issue when try to use front camera is failed with notification Warning Unknown Error Occured.
already try Wipe cache partition and hard reset but still facing the same issue..
but if i use front camera for video call thru whatsapp it's working fine, but yet again if check thru *#0*# for Front Camera it's Camera Failed..
is it hardware issue or FW issue ?
Front Facing camera has double image
Has anyone found a fix for this issue yet? Mine started this issue last year and I haven't found a remedy for it yet. Ugh.
