VOL down + power botton is not work..
how to do it??
try using your spen
Swiping your entire hand across the screen should also work..
Yep confirm swiping the edge of your palm from right to left of screen still works..
MENU+Power button for about 2 seconds
That's pretty weird. I thought when Google announced ICS, they mentioned that the holding down of Volume Down + Power button will work across all Android 4.0 devices.

Galaxy Note with stock ICS and GoLauncher.... what can i do??
Long press Power + Home and screen shot should work. It works for me on Note with official ICS
I can't get the screenshot using the s pen to work after my ice update. UK stock LPT . Any ideas why?
screen cap with stylus
tried out with stylus; you need to press and hold the button on the stylus.
while pressing and holding the button on the stylus, tap and hold the stylus anywhere on the screen.
Works on any app.
I haven't gotten any other recommendation to work.
It used to work for me like that on GB but not now on ICS
Just Swype the side if your hand across the screen

is there any possible way to be able to touch the screen and return its from the timed out backlight insted of the power button then the actual unlocking....
Not sure about touching screen, but there's an app called NoLock that will make it so there's no lockscreen and hitting the power button unlocks it. Eats battery though.

Is there any way? Probably. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Just having the screen up to your thigh in your pocket would be enough to turn the screen on and thus drain your battery.
Not just drain your battery, but imagine calling people unexpectedly, random texting, somehow enabling options and selecting factory reset . There's a reason why there's a lock/unlock button.
Being a lefty, I wish you could turn the screen on using the volume buttons instead.

I can. Hold them for a second and the screen should turn on when you release them. If it doesn't let me know I'd like to investigate further.

Nope, not working. It turns it on using NoLock but then that just changes the volume too.
Im running Darkys 7 btw.

Holding the volume button does not turn on the screen, you probably touched the power button with you middle finger which holding the volume button with your thumb.
Widget Locker
Try the app WidgetLocker--it's a couple bucks but lets you turn on the screen with the volume buttons if you want (any hardware button). It will also let you customize your lockscreen with widgets and unlock the screen using the soft keys at the bottom if you so desire.
Mentioned this app in previous threads, should really start getting a cut from the developer.

You really should believe people when they say something works. Just because your rom works one way doesn't mean anything about everyone else.
Now if someone would give me a link to the roms which don't unlock due to the volume buttons, I might be able to fix that.
lmao love the music

I am not using a custom ROM. Maybe some custom ROM has that feature added but it definitely does not work on stock AT&T ROM.
Works on stock 2.2 Froyo leak ROM

That's not a stock ROM by any means.
I wish the volume buttons were lower on the case. I have a tendency to squeeze them with my finger when pressing the power button one-handed.
So... SGS2 has a power+home button screenshot method.. Which i would very much like to see on our cappy's if its possible .
Another method is the CM7 screenshot method... Is there any way to get that into a normal 2.3 rom? Such as apex
does the captivate have a "hard" home button?nope.
maybe other combos...
Sorry, didnt know it required a hard button... Perhaps both volume buttons and power?

i can do it on my htc inspire (on virtuous Unity rom) which has no physical home button.
the timeout on the power button is changed so it gives you time to hold down the power button, and hit the home button to snap the screenshot
upon close inspection it appears that this is a question.....
Closer inspection leads me to the conclusion that this is the development section....
You see where I'm going with this right....??

I get it that using the s-pen to take screenshots still works the same way. But it seems that the the home + power button way that worked in gingerbread, is not working.
So are there any way to take screenshots without the s-pen in ICS ?
The karate chop method
In thus you place the edge of your palm on the e edge of the screen and then its like wiping your screen with the edge of your palm

hi mate, the home button + power button method is still existant in ICS as far as i know. I am using the Stock ICS 4.0.3 on the Galaxy Note and the key combination still works for me. Just make sure you get the timing right. Press both keys at the same time. Dont delay the press and it should snap.
Hi Fellas.
If you have used a S2 or a S3 before, you would know that the home button does not react instantly. The main reason is due to the S-Voice which is activated when you double-press the home button.
The S-voice can be disabled, thus making the home button react instantly.
Now, for the HTC One, in order to multitask, you have to double-tap on the home button. Does the home button react instantly when tap once? Instead of double-tap, I really wished it could have been tap-and-hold, just like the back button. Why the inconsistencies in behavior?
Tap and hold is for Google now
Double tap is for recent apps
As far as the speed, I've messed with a s3 and my one x is much faster going back to the home screen so it's safe to assume HTCs new phone will be just fine

Hi , take a look at this article : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117
I did it on my SGS3Mini GT-I8190 some time ago just to see if it really works and it does so no problems (don't know about the SGH-T599 US version though)
But bare in mind that TouchWiz will look strange with soft-keys as it is designed to use physical ones instead xD just change launcher
