I am on the leaked ICS stock, i would like to confirm anyone else get screenshot by pressing and briefly hold power and Vol down button together??
want to confirm tht i am not alone
Yes, I can confirm it works. I don't find that trigger particularly convenient or as useful as some of the root screenshot apps available, but its nice to have a built in feature.
This works but it's a little finicky for me. If I don't press them correctly then it ends up changing my ringer volume. Also I can't figure out how to mute the shutter sound...anyone know how to do that? I'm on 6.16.206.

Hi,
First time poster as I've only just registered but I've been playing with the ROMs that Stona, SamerD, Anders, Lexmaster et al have been posting. Big thanks to you guys for putting together these ROMs.
I was a bit confused about the differences and advantages of one ROM over another. At the moment I've installing them and finding out which one I like the most. I'm actually a massive fan of Sense but those ROMs all share the problem of muting the call whenever a message or other notification comes through. So I've had to move to one of the others. I've been using Evervolv for a while and really like it. It seems fast and pretty good. I use my headphones to listening to music so all the AOKP ones are currently having issues. It would be good if there was some comparison between ROMs. I was planning to do something myself, e.g. a table with features, but then got distracted.
Anyway, to another point. I've ordered a new Power button for my phone. Under a number of the ROMS, Stona, SamerD, and Evervolv it doesn't lock or unlock my screen (thus why I've bought a new power button). However, I've got Vanilla Rootbox on there at the moment and the button seems to work most of the time. What it doesn't do though is bring up the power off menu when I hold the button in. I'm running CWM recovery and used the advanced function to do a key test. It outputs a code with the up/down buttons and the other keys but not the power button.
Has anyone else seen power button issues that change dependent upon ROM? I'm having to rely on volume wake or plugging into USB if it goes off to get the screen back.
Thanks.
Broken powerbutton?

Now I'm no pro but I'd say that your power buttton is broken. I've tried most of the above roms and had no such issue
I have tried pretty much every rom here except Paranoid android(gonna try of course) and never had such a problem.
I'm on stock android S4 Active I9295. Since official Samsung upgrade to lollipop 5.0.1 the function and setting has disappeared to be able to use volume button to switch on torch when screen is off. Does anybody have a way to get it working again? Would very much appreciate if anybody can help. Made different searches but couldn't find anybody else mention this problem or solution.
This has been removed from Android Lollipop
It still works on mine, also official lollipop. Although when it times out and you it's 'up volume' again it doesn't turn on unless you turn the screen on and off.
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

I miss the embedded recorder and screenshot!
Does anyone have any ideas? I did find an app on GP for recording (prefer embedded) but have not had any luck with finding a screenshot that actually works...
tis,
gbh
Screenshot is suppose to be power button + volume down. Works for me.

Caused by datamining. The dev's at Google know about the use of features. The majority seems not to use this.
Same with a dark theme. It is easy to embed. But it's not in Android.
We are probably a minority.
@Getabiggerhammer:
Screenshot: Power + Volume Down
Screen Record: Power + Volume Up
@NLBeev: They're still present. The devs at Google simply can't code their way out of wet paper bags.
Thanks everyone,
Yes I tried the volume down+power and the volume down+ home neither seem to work though. If I knew how to root my old plum phablet it had an extra button added to take snaps that worked flawlessly on 4.2. I was hoping someone might know of code floating around somewhere or an app, but then that might not help me anyway since there must be some other issue going on if you all can get it to work and I cant.

You just have to press the two buttons at exactly the same time, and keep them pressed for around half a second. It won't work if you happen to press either button a little bit before the other.

@runecock, that's the trick thanks! It works!
Like we have been able to with every phone since inception.
has anyone noticed this? or know a work around? That is one of the most important features to me.
you hit the power button to mute and ignore but the screen comes right back on in a second.
anything??
So I am re-purposing an old LG V20 as a music player. Everything is perfect, it's a great phone, except that the reason I got a new one is that the volume keys are jacked. Press Volume Up, and it will suddenly stick and jump all of the way up. I'm not sure what's up, but it sucks. Right now, my workaround is to press Volume Down, so the volume popup appears onscreen, and drag it where I want, but if I could make Vol Up and Vol Down buttons in Tasker, it would be nicer and give me more granular control. I just don't know if I can do that or not. Like I said, phone isn't rooted because Verizon is run by jerks who want to fill your phone full of bloatware that nobody even uses, but they still draw a paycheck for.
Anyway, tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Within tasker you can use the keyboard action for volume up/down then set shortcuts/widgets to link to the tasks [emoji846]

Thanks, looks like what I needed. I wasn't finding one when searching, except one that stated right off the bat that the phone needed to be rooted. Which is why I posted and listed int he subject that the phone wasn't rooted. I was hopping there was a possible solution for us folks that are stuck with Verizon's crap.
