How can I avoid WM going to sleep when I'm transferring "big files" with WIFI ?
yes of course.. just in the battery menu configure that PDA doesn't go sleep..
cheers.
It's already done...
In fact, I'm using "Slide to unlock" (S2U2) and I'm trying to sync my RSS feeds with "pRSSreader" using WIFI. After a few minutes, the screen goes to black and wifi is disabled...
So I'm looking for a solution to get my update and lock after finish
Another possiblity: Keep WIFI activated when going to sleep....
I use this to ensure keeping skype and msn online via wlan... u will find the registry key somewhere here in this board if u like it like this (just be sure to turn wifi off when u dont need it for battery reasons)
Hey lemmings,
The easiest way is to install kaisertweak.
There is an option in the XML file under Wifi Standby Mode: Enable the function
Soft reset and you're done!

The WiFi turning off on me has bothered me on occasion. I looked and I don't see any WiFi settings on Kaiser Tweak. I'm using Version 0.4 if that makes any difference.
Thanks,
Jay
Viva Kaiser Tweak ! I've use it to enable Wifi Standby Mode.
Yea, I hate that. Good thing they made Kaiser Tweak! I would be a forever annoyed by the sim contact list showing. . Is there a solution to hid them forever?
Just changed this. Thanks!
My university has a log in for Wifi and I was tired of logging in everytime my phone went to standby. Now I'm always connected!
Battery hog though.

Hi, I've searched the forum for my question but the only threads I found were about problems to start a data connection after updating.
Well my problem is the opposite. After updating my original android to version 2.3.5 with HTC sense 3 on my IncS the data connection starts itself spontaneously. I turned off the option mobile network (in the quick settings as well as in the settings itself. I first noticed that the data connection turned itself on when I opened the messages application.
I really hope someone can help me fix this problem because this issue has cost me a lot of data traffic and thus a lot of money.

As a preface: I am on JB build .489, rooted with CWM recovery installed. Locked bootloader so there is no custom kernel. I have removed bloatware and installed Xposed Framework, but have not done anything to affect the internet settings.
Now on to the actual problem:
Last night I was on the internet when my phone ran out of batteries. I stuck it onto the charger, offline charging was working fine etc.
Then when I turned the phone back on there was no internet connection whatever. The mobile data "on" in the status bar and in the setting page both work but have no real effect, but when toggled the usual Data warning messages appear, or the data traffic has been disabled message appears too. Yet despite all this no mobile internet signal icon appears in the status bar, and I cannot download internet settings and mms settings.
Wifi is a different story: when toggled in the status bar toggles, the animation for wifi on plays for around 7-10 seconds then stops, no signal is established. In the setting menu however, the actual soft button appears to be slightly greyed out, but I can still toggle that too. But once I do, the text "Turning Wifi On" appears on the page, but nothing else happens besides eventually the Wifi turning itself off. No network is found.
I haven't done anything to cause this, to the best of my knowledge. I have uninstalled the few apps which I installed last night, I have tried hard reboots, waiting until both one vibration or three vibrations when rebooting. I have tried resetting the Xposed frameworks to system default (I know it shouldn't have any bearing on it but still). The only thing that I can think of that I havenn't mentioned is that I used the Busybox installer the other day to update busybox and also install the zipalign option (didn't get round to doing anything with it though, and the internet was working fine after that for atlest a few hours) but then again this should have no bearing on my internet connectivity whatsoever.
Well... There you have it. Any and all recommendations are welcome, though I would also say that I would not like to do the usual "take a backup, repair with PC Companion" method which most people seem to suggest, so anything other than that I would appreciate as advice. I do not have logcat installed but I have ROM Toolbox installed along with a few other Root Utilities so I can get a couple of pieces of information if necessary.
So what do you all think? How do I fix my phone?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried redownloading internet settings through Settings/Xperia/Internet Settings? That might fix the mobile broadband problem

It just says "unable to download"
Bump. Anyone?
Please only bump a thread once every 24 hours.
I would suggest rapairing with PCComapnion or sues.
Maybe restoring a backup.
Take out SIM, give it a clean and re-insert
Apparently removing the SIM card and cleaning it worked! Mods go ahead and close this thread if you want.

Hello everybody,
I am in big trouble. Android os is using my data in background. please explain me why i can't control this background usage.
I turned off every sync. I used droidwall, data manager, apn switch but still eating my data. please kindly help me how to solve this thread?
data switch should have control of all data usage.
thanks for reading my thread.
You are turning Mobile Data OFF but the phone is still using mobile data ???
Data use in the background is usually apps updates .
If mobile data toggle is off it uses no mobile data only wifi .

Hi Everyone, my friend is having the exact same problem, the status shows Android OS has downloaded 300+MB today. Anyone know what causes this? He has updated to the latest stock version of the OS via Keis. I have check all his other app settings and they are only downloading the usual 5MB per few days. This is very annoying.
If you set a limit in data usage it should cut it off when you go over it. I'd probably try a full wipe and start from scratch

One an app downloading two play updating apps three software OTA updates in the background .
Find something on Play store that monitors individual apps data usage .
Or just turn mobile data off .

Won't it show an app downloading in the notification bar if it was updating anything from the play store? Also I have turned off software update and still nothing, I have downloaded an app to monitor data usage and Android OS still shows the most downloaded. What is going on? This is frustrating.

Mobile Data is off so that nothing gets downloaded, that is the first thing I told him to do. I am at a loss as to what else to tell him. The only thing I can think of is installing another stock ROM via Odin.

If Mobile data is off then you need to be sure that its actually using data and check via the network .

Yes it is using the data as he got a text message from EE saying that he has nearly used up all his data plan and will be charged if he goes over it. So something is downloading as Android OS, an update has been done and am stumped. All other apps have their own download info so unless some other app that is badly made.
So that means Mobile Data is not turned off check the toggle .

Yes it is turned off. But when he wants to check FB, or News on the Phone it starts to update when he switches the phone on. He just text me and said that he has used up all his data and now is on 2G and can't afford to switch on 3G. So he will have to wait till the end of the month before he can use 3G. So I am not sure what to do. It seems a lot of people have this problem but it seems that no one knows what causes it. I thought it happened mostly on ICS but I have seem some people saying that their ROM (JB) has done the same thing.
Its a question of tracking down the updating app .
Turn firmware updates off in the settings for one .
Have a look on Google Play My Apps update them over WiFi .

I have installed that. But it still displays the same info also I have checked the settings for updating the apps and it is on WiFi only. I think I will have to Root the phone do backups and re-install via Odin.
It has downloaded 8MB this morning in a couple of hours.
problem solved
After finding several solutions, i change apn setting to pap mode. And i use droid wall and i allowed only facebook, candy crush and browser on 3g and allowed everything in wifi. Now its ok and no data use in background.
Thanks for your replies to my thread. Member.

Google+ is the culprit. Disable/uninstall it and you'll be back to normal
