Enter button to send texts in stock GB/ICS - Motorola Droid 4

In AOSP you can use the enter buttons to send texts, but in motoblur (both GB and ICS) the enter button inserts a line, how can i change it so the enter button sends the texts instead? I haven't seen a setting for it
I'm on the .206 ICS leak rooted

The only solution I have found was to freeze the text messaging app and replace it with a 3rd party solution from the app store.

send SMS (or start a own app) via Camera Button

Hi
i want to send my SMS via a easy accessable hardware button (like the one from the camera)
does anybody can give me a hint how i can do that; or name an app which could be a solution for my problem
thx a lot
give handcent a try
its free in the market place
theres an option in the settings where you can get it so when you hold the camera butten a dialog will pop up
i think chomp sms has it too~
hope this helps
Just tried it with chompsms
It works fine but it just starts the app, its not possible to actually send the sms with a hardware button
My other thought now is to start a own app with the camera button (which automatically sends the sms)
Any hints on that? It should be possible, chomp and handcent are able to reprogramm the camera button...
Thx

[Q] Call Log Now Showing Calls+SMS Instead of Just Calls!

I installed OCLF and LauncherPro and now my Call Log in the dialer is showing SMS messages instead of just Calls. As I get a ton of text messages, my call log is getting really long and messy.
Anyone know how I can resolve this? I clicked on Settings while in Call Log but it won't allow me to restrict it to calls only. The only options offered is:
View by:
All logs
missed calls
dialled calls
received calls
sent messages
received messages
bump..
this is real annoying as the call log becomes super long.
bump..
would really love a solution to this.May be a log cleaner that deletes all the text logs ?
You mean in Contacts History?
Press Menu, select 'View By'. Deselect 'Message' and press 'Done'.
And messages do not appear in the history.

As stated in the original post, the call log only has the options to view by one of the following selections (not multiple selections): All logs, Missed calls, Received calls, Dialed calls, Received messages, and Sent messages.
If we could simply "uncheck" the 2 message options, this thread would not exist. We can only select one selection of the above choices. Further example: selecting missed calls would leave out received calls, dialed calls, received messages, and sent messages.
We would like something that only shows missed, received, and dialed calls (no sms).
So far, only the froyo builds are this way for the vibrant ROMs (except teamwhiskey's - i've tried macnut and axura which both suffer from this problem).
Is there a fix for this yet? I can't believe Google released Froyo with this dumb problem! There is no way to exclude SMS from the call log! My call log goes on for miles!
Can one of you XDA geniuses come up with a fix for us?
Ohh I hate this too. Its so annoying.
This is driving me crazy! Does anyone know if there is a replacement Call Log app that we can install in its place?
This is very annoying and for that fact I went back to ka5, does anyone have a way to replace the dialer app? I tried replacing the phone app but it gave me issues with connecting to the network.

For those who are rooted, I have bionix v rom installed and flashed the AOSP MMS app provided by Team Whiskey and this log annoyance is gone.

I may not answer your question about changing the 'call log' settings but this is what i do.
1. Go to 'contacts'
2. 'history' tab
3. Press the menu button
4. Then go to 'view by'
From there, there is a check list where you can select what kind of logs you want to see.
Couple of more steps to see the call history, but nonetheless it gives.you what you want.

Well the History app seems to work. But it brings up another question: why in the world are there TWO different call log apps in the native dialer? The "Logs" app doesn't resolve the situation, but to access the other call log app, you have to open the dialer, click on Contacts, then the History tab.
Maybe Darky can offer a custom fix in 9.3?

Ditto! This is driving me nuts! I am rooted and ready to add or delete whatever it takes to fix this. Would somehow downgrading from 2.2 dialer to the 2.1 api work?
try go contacts from the market, it provides a dialer aswell and looks much better than stock with all stock features and only calls in the log.

I posted a workaround for this in another thread which has somehow disappeared.
There are TWO call logs in the native dialer application. The first you get by clicking on Phone/Logs. This one is useless.
The second you get by clicking Phone/Contacts/History. Then click on the Settings button and create your filters. This one has all the features you need.

[Q] long text messages automatically converting to mms

whenever i copy paste text from browser of more than 160 characters to text someone, the message automatically converts to an MMS. is there anyway to stop this? i want to send long text messages. if i type manually i'm able to send long messages. trouble only while copy pasting from clipboard (browsers).
thank you.
I'd love to get rid of that as well...
i found that the stock app cannot do it. need to go for third party apps like go sms pro or handcent..
Had the same problem on my Dell Streak running Froyo ... Same problem on Note and Gingerbread ... I dumped the stock messaging and moved to Chomp SMS and now Handcent SMS ... No problems in either app and I sometimes send rather long texts
If you do fancy changing your SMS app go to the Play Store and search BigSMS. It simply allows you to send huge texts.
Great. So i've probably been running up MMS costs unknowingly. Ridiculous. Should send Samsung the bill.

[Q] Hangouts @ 320DPI

The new Hangout's with SMS integration is not working correctly on my device which is set via Build.prop to 320DPI. When you usually in a conversation and at the top there is the contacts name you can tap that and a drop menu appears so you can select send as SMS. on my device I don't have this option. I only have the option to change my own account used to send a Hangout from. No SMS options, I have to go and find the contact through the + button and add a contact from my address book.
Has anyone else this problem or even a work around ?
Yes, changing the DPI back and it works fine, I don't want big apps And yes, i've used AppsManager. on xposed this doesn't appear to work. It's as if the app isn't supporting SMS in lower DPI's - I had to go all the way up to 480 to get it to work in AppsManager.
Anyone using the DPI mod and hangouts?

Same problem with 340DPI on Nexus 5

[Q] Replace emoji key with enter key

I was typing a text and all of a sudden my enter key was an emoji key. It's only like this in an SMS app. Neither Google Messenger nor the stock Messages app has a setting to disable this. This happened to my wife's phone awhile ago but I can't remember how I fixed it. Don't suggest a new keyboard or SMS app.
