i installed es file explorer.
i USUALLY manage my BT and WIFI by replacing files in the /etc/wifi (i think this not the cause)
one thing i remember is i browse the /dev folder in my phone memory
open the stl5 and open with a text. BUT
im aware not to save anything it might change something. i just openned it.
im still on a good condition and after about a day. i reboot my phone and then the thing happens.
Well the answer is so simple mate reflash or flash a new rom. Its gonna take you ages to find out what, when, where, how that happped just get over it and flash a new rom there r hundreds out there. Lets just say that it was something from somewhere in the blue sky that happened to ur phone. Good luck

Hello,
my friend got a phone that at first sight i thought its the galaxy s i9000. but its the korean version of it with integrated dbm antenna.
but the problem he had was, that he tried to flash a gingerbread rom (for i9000) but came to me saying the phone does not boot anymore...
so i wanted to flash the correct firmware.. so i downloaded the latest one from http://m110sroms.info/ ...
but when i start the update with odin.. it stops with a FAIL at the very end of the flashing process.. i tried several times with and without closing Odin and with and without ticking repartition.. but it didnt help..
what is the problem? please help..
i downloaded another firmware but didnt worked either..
does he bricked the phone? is it possible to un-brick it?
please answers.. thanks
I don't know a lot about this, but I do know it's almost impossible to permanently brick your phone. So things could work out just fine . However someone with some more knowledge should help you out, since mine is insufficient. GL though.
i just tried almost every single firmware i found for this device but none of them worked
so please, if anyone does know a solution, feel free to post.
Maybe it's not i9000. There is a difference between models like i9000,i9000B... check it behind battery

Hi there.
I recently flashed the KRATOS Overcome ROM to my Galaxy Tab. Everything is just perfect about this ROM, except for the fact that the nice Samsung tune at start up has disappeared. I quite like it and would like to get it back.
I know it should be located in system/etc and the name is PowerOn.snd
Would somebody just copy it from there and send it to me or just attached it here for further use. Thank you!
I think even if you put any sound file if it is not coded to play at startup then it would be useless.

Damn! Are you sure about that?
I am not a developer so I can't be sure 100%. Yet I have asked before on another post(sorry I can't find it) how to put sound on boot animation and it involves scripting which I don't know how.
Maybe you know scripting? The best you have to do is go to the overcome site and ask this.question there.

Thanks, dude!
In fact I have asked this question in Team Overcome's forum first, before bothering anyone here, but since I got no reply for a couple of days, I decided to ask here, because I was sure that at least I will get some answer. And I wasn't wrong!
Cheers!
Hello,
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I am not good at this and very nervous of doing something wrong and destroying my mobile... If you could please help me?!
My Galaxy S is:
Frimware version
2.3.3
Baseband version
I9000BWJV2
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813*[email protected]*#2
Build nr
Gingerbread.xwjvh
The mobile is very very slow and very difficult to use because of this. I have seen that I can root the mobile and upgrade it to Jelly Bean, and hopefully my problems will be resolved...
I am just not sure what kind of programme I should download to root it... also I'm very nervous about in what steps I need to go about to upgrading to Jelly Bean and what I need to download and in what order to do this.
I'm not sure what I download to my laptop's desktop and what I need on my mobile itself...
If you could help me with a step by step guide I would be eternally grateful.
Many Many Thanks
Wishing you all Happy Holidays.
Kaarina

Sorry for bothering you, I can only say I never done anything like this before, and am not skilled at this. Being an older person, I can't believe I'm even going try this on my own...
Many Thanks and wish me good luck.

I hope you can help me or I don't know what to do.... what do I do help.

Is it normal for it to take over an hour for this??
Solved the problem with some thinking and restored the settings and re-did things and now the ROM is installing... so I think it is all going well!

Bricking an i9000 is rare, unless you flash firmware for a different phone or pull the cable halfway.

Basically what you're doing is flashing the newest GB firmware for your phone using Odin and then rooting it, also using Odin. After that you have access to " recovery mode", from which you simply choose a zip file with your ICS or JB ROM and flash it.
If your phone is normally working now, I suggest you retry. This process is fairly simple, given you follow all the steps.
Edit: wait, looks like you have a Brazilian i9000.
Since you're using a Brazilian I9000B, disregard what i wrote above, most ROMs aren't compatible, read this

Hi peeps, its the end of the year 2013. And my previously owned galaxy ace is dying out of slowness, incapability and lagginess.
I've now got the new Galaxy ace 3.
Just rooted it with vroot and installed SuperSU.
Though im yet to find any proper CWM that is capable with this phone.
The usual methods that uses Odin and flashing the PDA doesn't work for me.
Any help is appreciated
PS, XDA doesnt recognize Galaxy Ace 3 yet and please do let me know if i've posted in the wrong place.
Sharing is caring, respect is all the wealth we need.
I got the Ace III about a day after you and have already managed to brick it :crying:
So if you make any progress with CWM or Odin etc please post back.
It's such a good little phone I'd hate to give up on it.
Thanks

Looks like the same one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548856
I've been holding that one in reserve since my phone model appears to suggest it will not be compatible - and I'm in the "Twice shy" phase of my meddling
Thanks for that though. I'm also investigating obackup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040507&page=478) as an alternative to CWM, no luck there yet either. I'm in an unfamiliar position of having a fairly new device
