(HELP) DSP Manager 6 Band EQ - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, I need a little bit of your help, I had my Ace with the CM7 which obviously had the DSP Manager and this version has 6 band EQ and the bass booster its a lot of much better but I'm having troubles with the ROM and I want go back to my Stock ROM but the available versions of DSP Manager to install in other ROM's out of CM7 has only 5 or 4 band EQ and doesn´t produce to much quality on the sound so... Some one knows how can I get the 6 band EQ version or how can I made an install version of my current DSP Manager that I have on the phone?

I'm pretty sure that you're able to install the DSP manager on stock? I havent used stock since the 2nd day I get my phone so i'm not 100% sure.
An alternative way is use Player Pro's DSP manager(with player pro), if ure gonna use it to listen to music that is.

[Q] DSP manager on other roms

one of the features i like the most in cm7 is DSP manager app. does someone knows a way how i could get it on other roms, or is there an app that provides the same settings?
Just copy /system/app/dspmanager.apk and /system/lib/soundfx/libcyanogendsp.so from CM and paste both at same path in new rom. I use it that way and it does work

I installed DSP Manager comes from CM7, and the dynamic range compression doesent work. Everything else works great...
My tracks sounds very good with dynamic range compression on CM7. Actually what is it doing? And how?
Nice bump

BUMP!, one of the features that keeps me in CM7 instead stock based roms... Stock based have alarm/stopwatch/timer/ in one place, divx official support and HDMI auto/1080p/720p/480p/etc... + I love colorized android settings
Any suggestion how to import these features (including full DPS with dynamic range that makes music sound awesome) that whould be great indeed.
any apk available?

I'm also trying to get dynamic range compression to work for DSP manager. I installed the .apk from CM7 on my Samsung Galaxy player YP-G70 running Gingerbread 2.3.5 and all DSP features work except Dynamic Range compression. Does anyone know if it needs to be flashed as a ROM to make it work? My device is rooted, however there is no support for it for CM7 yet. I get no responses to this question when I post on the Cyanogen forums, most likely because my Samsung device isn't supported and I'm being ignored.
Yes, yes I know, everybody hates Dynamic range compression, "It's destroying music" blah! blah! blah! But there are many times when it's needed, especially on small devices like android phones and PMP's. Listening to music, movies and video clips on these devices in noisy environments, or on small speakers can be difficult to hear the quieter passages of the content. then of course when the loud parts come in, they blast the speakers or headphones with distortion. I cant believe there aren't any Android apps out there to address this situation. Anybody know of one that maybe isn't on the android marketplace?
May be,
DRC feature of DSPManager is framework integrated. Check CM Vs stock ROM's framework

I tried it on the CM7 firmware and it didn't work any better than when I hacked it into the stock firmware. Specifically DRC, the rest worked fine except for the EQ which crashes (FC) on the stock firmware. Not sure why.

Power AMP + DSP Manager

Is there a way how to get working dsp manager with power amp on ICS? cause i really like power amp interface and i think it's the best player but i really miss the sound quality from dsp manager app :/
they work together without problems. depends on which rom and device u have, maybe dsp does not work with ur rom for some reason...
I'm using slim ics 3.1...with google player in system dsp manager works...but not with power amp...:/

maybe the problem is in the settings of power amp...whats yours?i mean audio engine maybe or what...i also have voodoo sound...but it woldn't be a problem...
this probably does not belong to this forum but actually I have the same issue as fr4nkie77 on atrix 4g running CM9 rom by Jokersax. DSP works with the stock music app but not with PowerAmp or Spotify.
PowerAmp and DSP were working together nicely when I was running Neutrino CM7 rom, but i've been running ICS for months now and not prepared to go back.
Would love to get that amazing sound back.
disable direct volume control under settings>audio>advanced tweaks. I think that will give control to DSP manager rather than having poweramp control it.
And this works?

You have to go into settings>audio>advanced
Then unchecked the DVC AND check the MusicFX box. Make sure that DSP Manager is the default option in your system sound settings. Then go to tone/volume or w.e tab in power amp and long press the music fax button. DSP manager pops up and you're ready to add your reverberation

Sound quality

I generally feel that the sound quality through headset on Sammy roms are crisp and clear than on cm9 or aokp roms, I just require user opinion on this
THank you
Might be due to DSP Manager on CM9. Turn it completely off as it doesn't work really well right now.
Sound IS better on CM9, and I want to know why... and apply that to an stock rooted ROM...
I've been searching and searching, I've installed DSP Manager on an Stock rooted rom XXLA1/XXLC1 (DBT) and it sounds exactly the same.
I start the app, and it doesn't require root permissons, and is not listed on the granted apps on SuperUser...
How can we improve sound quality, the same way CM9 rom does it?

Use PowerAmp to play music. It's the best music player right now. The equalizer and tone control it very good for me to play music.
I've used it for several weeks, but the sound quality I can achiveve is MILES away from the sound out-of-the-box that CM9 provides... That's the reason of this topic...
By the way, what are the values you put on PowerAmp Equalizer?

[Q] Best ROM for DSP? Distortion in Cyanogen?

Hello
I've been going back and forth between ROMs to find one with good sound. I've found Cyanogen either has muddy bass with no "felt" bass, and heaps of distortion over headphones more than capable of handling it. I was wondering what were the best sounding ROMs and DSP packages for the Incredible S are, Jellybean and ICS preffered.
Thankyou.

Hello
Which headphones are you using and how is the quality of the song?
I am using klipsch image one, playing flac and 320kbps mp3 and no problems on CM
I'm using awesomebeats but that shouldn't matter.
Try playing with both the "bass boost' and the visual equaliser though

I am using the Logitech UE200, and enabling bass boost at all seems to artificially create distortion, but if I manually disable DSP manager and use something like equalizer, the bass works a little better. However, there isn't any "sub-bass" [below 60hz]. It isn't as anywhere near as powerful as DSP manager could be if it didn't have that bug.
All songs on my phone are 320kpbs if obtainable, but any that I use to test low-end is all 320 MP3
I'm tempted to try AOKP R5 with just Equalizer, or Nooxzoide [Can't spell it] DSP manager as they had better results.

Try awesomebeats as its supposed to improve that stuff by using beats libs. Like I said my setup with any ROM basically produces decent sound, not the best but okay
For the record though I don't turn bass all the way up as it gets too distorted, its only on a bit but I can still feel it. Do you have yours done all the way?

In DSP Manager, it floats around Moderate/Exteme boost with either untouched or ever so slightly boosted 16/60 equalizer bands. In Equalizer, the sweet spot is 80% boost, and in Noox DSP the lowest end of the EQ is +10.0 without distortion [No PSYC selection].
What is awesomebeats anyway? a flashable zip with a modded DSP manager library or..?
EDIT: I've decided on VIPER Vivo, but just one question.
What DSP comes with it, do I need to flash Awesomebeats seperatley and can you have folders on the dock?

Awesomebeats replaces the DSP manager. Its a modded DSP manager that incorporates the beats audio libs from HTC. Just flash it and it will be set. If you Google it you'll find it, V5 AFAIK is the latest and the developer is ...Awesome... (That's his name)
It won't work on viper so don't try. However viper has about 30000 different presets and its own visual equalizer to play with

If Im not mistaken, isnt distortion more of a hardware thing?
A quick google search gave me this:Distortion on wikipedia

[Q] Best Sound mods on stock rom?

Hello ! As you all know Sound quality has been terrible on our Z1 since Lollipop came out and Sony has done nothing to fix it so now i have gotten enough and i wanna do something about it myself. I have been reading lots about sound mods and have been comparing them with others but i cant seem to find good one to fit my purposes so i decided to ask here. Im not looking for stereo mod or anything speaker related or like that, i just wanna get the true power what it is capable to produce to my headset like on KK and to be able to adjust the equalization and bass etc like we used to before Walkm... i mean Music app sound enchantments stopped working.. i have XPhonePlus Module from XPosed to enable old audio modes but its currently broken or something since doesnt work...
So basicly im looking for audio mod that:
- Brings back the volume that we had in KK. (In LP its much lower volume.)
- Makes equalization working again. (After LP, had never worked, not in Music beta or the not beta one)
- Makes surround work again (--||--)
- As good bass without losing quality as possible
- Being able to keep the sound enchantments in other apps too not just music app
- Works on stock rom
- As stable as possible, im not really good updater.
- Needs to be able to change settings on the fly. (on LP sometimes equalizer settings take effect on reboot)
I know all my requirements arent necessary possible but just something that way !
I have Bluetooth headset and wired one and i use both so it needs to work on both. i listen mostly electronic so extra bass related mod is never a minus. Im not looking to change music app since i like it so that is not an option.
Im taking suggestions and im gonna pick the best one based on popularity and comments so please share your favourite mod here an i will check it out !
Also im a noobie so i might need instructions i have root ofc and nuts recovery and xposed. im on .270 5.0.2 LP
@migidid
I'm gonna try to answer :3
1. Edit your mixer_paths.xml, need root, there is also many guide in XDA
2. Equalizer works correctly, I don't know why you have such problem xD
3. Surround works too, but only when using headset/headphone.
4. This need headset/headphone with nice sound range too, you can +bass from stock Equalizer, I'm used Poweramp and Poweramp equalizer + Sony equalizer
5. Sony Sound Effect have a global effect for your speaker and also from another sound media too, but I don't know about surround effects (didn't try this so much) xD
EDIT: It's works on Poweramp, just tested it :3
EDIT2: It's not working on Poweramp, it's "blank" sound, sorry xD
EDIT3: Got a fix, must disable Direct Volume Control and enable MusicFX and you will get Surround Sound effect xD
6. I'm on Sony stock L ROM build .270, rooted
7. Nothing bads, if you know what are you doing xD
8. Sony Equalizer no need reboot to take effect, it's immediate :3
I don't like use Viper or another Sound Mod like that, it's useless (for me), since Sony already have in build Sound Effect. I'm only used nice headphone (not high res), modified mixer_paths.xml and Poweramp. :3
