[Q] Bricked my phone? - HTC Incredible S

I just ran RUU update and now my phone is refusing to start. Have I bricked it?

What state was your phone in before you installed it? S-off etc?
Is it doing absolutely nothing? No lights etc?
Does your pc recognise the device?

Help me Return my phone in factory condition

Hey guys long time to talk (long time since I have had internet)
So here is the situation, two weeks ago I bought the HTC Desire C and I rooted it, and of course unlocked my bootloader.
Problem is, I want to return this phone and exchange it for the LG Optimus Regard
Can anyone tell me the steps I need to take so the store reps wont know I fiddled with my device? (I read somewhere that they can tell how many times you flashed it, so I need to reset said counter if it exists) I really want to do this tonight.
Thanks,
Tlasch
You should be able to do a full unroot from the options in supersu also you can relock the bootloader but it will say relocked not locked like it used to and there's nothing you can do about that. But its unlikely they'd check that before they take it back anyway.

Well in superuser, I have no options, will this RUU undo the root for me?
It says its the Europe version, will that mess my phone up? (NVM it doesnt look like it will work, it keeps telling me my battery is less than 30% which is not true)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710312
Yes flashing a ruu will unroot your phone but you need to make sure its the right when for where you live so if you dont live in Europe don't flash a Europe one also I think you need to relock the bootloader before flashing a ruu.

Test Device

What is a "Test Device"? I noticed this the other day (see attachment). I got a replacement phone last week (this phone), and not sure if it was there when it was stock, or that happens when I did the S-Off.
Or is that a special phone that got out in the wild? My girlfriend's phone HTC One doesn't have it.
Rooting your phone did this not s off. It's totally normal

Actually my phone isn't rooted (currently). Because I have S-Off, I used the RUU to take my phone back to stock to get the OTA update. So phone is 100% stock other than having S-Off.

Actually from what I have read, S-OFF did this not rooting.
Read my comment above. I've had that test device message since rooting my phone. I just did S Off 2 days ago so I can confirm its done after rooting/installing a custom rom etc...

Sending phone in questions ?

Ok so I'm sending my phone in for repair and would like to know what to do and what not to do when sending in to HTC for repair . I just dont want to pay extra for stupid crap software wise or some stupid re install fee for modifying my phone . I have no problems completing any task nessecary to go back to stock I just want to know what I cab get away with sending to htc. So here it goes
I have at&t branded one
I'm currently on android 4.3
Firmware 3.17
S-off
Cid 11111111
Hboot 1.55
And bootloader unlocked.
What can I get away with ? Leaving s-off no matter what and we all know why just hoping I get my same phone back .
Since I'm att does it matter that I'm higher than 4.1.2 and higher hboot cid bootloader etc etc
Really what does HTC care about ? And what should I correct before sending in to HTC ?
Thank you for your time
Should I just change my cid to dev and flash dev ruu ?

Very helpful.
To OP: What problem are you sending it in for? If its a hardware problem that couldn't be caused by anything you did, then leave it. They dont care unless it could be caused by something you did to the bootloader. Just to be safe though, you could make a twrp backup, then flash a stock rom. No need to relock the bootloader or anything.

And saying the same thing in more words is more helpful?
He should return it to stock software, why risk it?
Advising they don't care about unlocked and unsigned software is bizarre, since people have been refused repair or charged for a new mainboard.

In the US? When I called HTC to do my repair (power button stopped working), I asked if unlocking the bootloader mattered. He said not unless you brick the phone doing it. I sent it in bootloader unlocked and ARHD installed. I got it back with no hassles.

Does 'S-Off' void your warranty?

I've locked and removed the bootloader, but the S-Off is still there? does that mean my handset is void?

In theory NO because some devices are accidentally(?) shipped S-OFF from HTC. And some other receives them S-OFF when back from repair.

I have an S-OFF device which visited the service center once. No problem at all with the warranty as soon as the bootloader stays LOCKED

Phone must be completely stock. Stock, recovery, stock hboot, no root and locked bootloader. S-OFF doesnt mind.
Okay thank you, so stock everything but the security doesn't matter

i have a doubt.... my device is locked, stock recovery, s-off, no tampered written and everything is perfectly stock... only issue i am having is that in says "This is a test device. Accordingly, to collect critical information about the device, Tell HTC is enabled and cannot be turned off regardless of device settings" ... so will this be a reason for a void warranty?

I it possible to lock the bootloader again after unlocking it and go back to stock, in case you need warranty service?
There is a date in the last row of your bootloader, be carefull it displays the day of your software modification...

HTC One completely messed up

Hello!
I wanted to go back to stock to send my phone in reparation because of the camera purple tint.
I tried to go back to stock using this tutorial and this French tutorial
I have a French HTC One with the French operator SFR.
I flashed the European RUU and after that I changed the CID by VODAP203 and I flashed a stock ROM of my operator downloaded from in the French tutorial. After that I flashed the related firmware and my phone started normally.
But I have big issues:
- Wi-Fi doesn't work and I get the "Error" message when I try to activate it.
- I can't transfer files to my phone using both adb push and simply copy and paste... The transfer bar doesn't move for minutes!
- When the phone boots, I got the error message "This phone just restored from an abnormal reset, Would you like to send an error report to HTC?"
I am completely lost, I have absolutely no ideas how to fix these issues... If someone could help please!
Thanks a lot for your help!

Haha that's right! I didn't think about that but there is no way for HTC to figure out those problems are the result of a bad flashing?
If you are stock again, locked (not relocked) your boot loader and s-on there is no sign that you flashed a thing. If they say so, they are just lying. Send it for repair.
