Call problems with ICS - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently swtiched my ROM to RemICS-UX from a stock Gingerbread. I have been having problems with calls ever since. When I get a call, I answer it and cannot hear any sound, while the person who called can hear me. Just like that, I can call someone but cannot hear the other side.
This doesn't happen all the time. Most of the time I can call people without problems but it happens at least once everyday. A restart is required when this happens. It goes back to normal after restart. I never experienced this with Gingerbread. Really annoying..
I am quite happy with RemICS-UX otherwise, it is really fast so I don't want to switch to Gingerbread again.
My current kernel is Semaphore_ICS but this happened with the kernel, which came with RemICS-UX as well. Any suggestions?

I think I found the problem. It is the Spirit FM application i'm using. I haven't been using it for a week and never encountered the problem again.

Lose sound output/input until reboot

For some odd reason, my wife's phone will randomly lose sound output and input.
For instance, cannot make calls because no sound is heard through speaker and it seems the mic becomes non-functioning, therefore the person on the other line hears nothing.
I've noticed at the same time that no other sounds (system, media, key presses, etc.) can be heard as well.
If the phone is rebooted the problem is fixed. This problem occurs usually once or twice a day. Its running a nearly stock 2.1 w/ root (although no root apps used or installed), I have also tried a different custom rom and have the same issue.
Any ideas? (I have searched and read up on some things, but did not see a definitive answer)
** Working on a fix now **
DrewX2, I'm having the same exact problem. Thought I was crazy! So I have the Damageless 2.08.1 (Android 2.1) ROM installed, and I thought I was being punished for not using Sprint's official ROM image . But you say that your wife's phone exhibited this behavior in more than one setup? What do you mean by "nearly stock"? Maybe someone out there knows of a way to look or download the internal error logs on the Android platform so we can at least get some stack trace info? Thanks!
Here guys, try this thread.

This is the exact fix I installed. So far no problems, will report back in a day or two.
Also, for the earlier question, when I said nearly stock, I should have said I am using nfinitefx45's Stock Sprint Deoxed ROM.

Sometimes Cannot Make or Recieve Calls after CM7 Flash

I have flashed CM7 on my incredible S last night. Now sometimes I get a text from my girlfriend or friends saying they called me but my phone never rings. This doesn't always happen, only sometimes... other times I can still get calls.
Does anybody know what the problem could be and why it is not working properly. I also placed a call once and it never went through or rang.
Thanks in advance,
Latif
I have the same problem. I thought that it might be from phone having low battery (I made a thread about it here) but I tested it and it seems random (my phone was at 5% and received a call fine).
People will tell me they've called me a bunch of times and the phone acted like it was off, but I had full service.

So far I'm using CM 7.1 with tiamat 1.1.4 as my kernel.
No problems so far. Maybe it might be ur radio being incompatible. For calls / signals etc is highly possible that it has something to do with your radio.
I'm currently testing out my CM 7.1 with tiamat 1.1.4 as my kernel because it was said to have about 2 days battery usage. If that's the case , I'm going to stick with CM7 and ignore other ROMS. But nonetheless, I miss my sense interface(looks more professional) and many things from sense which is good.
Just that I dislike sense because it is far way too battery consuming.
I had the same problem with Tiamat kernel 1.1.4. Restored to cm kernel and it working ok.

I flashed 7.1 using ROM Manager so I'm using the recommended settings (actually upgraded from RC-1, but had same issue with RC-1). I thought it might be radio but not sure. I'm interested to know for you since you're in SG as well, maybe it's a Radio/location thing.

My tips are that : do a clean wipe using ClockWorkMod.
And install the CM 7.1 >> Gapps (Google Apps) and then flash tiamat 1.1.4.
Do not use titanium backup or other file manager to restore the layout of your previous Rom whatsoever because your previous ROM might be based on Sense , and restoring sense stuffs into CM7 (a non sense ROM ) , might face some problems.
So far I've been trying very hard to flash CM7 and finally I got it done this morning at 1/2am..
Do try it out and if you have any problems share it out. I'll be glad to assist you based on my flashing experience.

I dont know but it also happened to me and I just got rid of the country code on the front of the number and it now works.
I've had CM7 (newest release) up and running on my phone for 24 hours now and this has yet to happen to me. Received many (and all) call so far
I'd try the latest radio. With the previous one I'd occasionally had people tell me they couldn't ring me.
I would occasionally notice on the previous radio that my phone would display no signal even though it's an area with full signal. Only been using the latest radio for a few days but no such issue so far. This radio is also supposedly a fix for the delayed SMS messages that some people had experienced.

was it working fine on Sammy's ROM?
yes i have never had an issue until using cm9. i think the microphone stops working too. i think it maybe when i try using the spirit fm app would this make sense? im not going to try the app now and see if it happens again. i thought that app should work?

Well, i think that's not a hardware issue to be worried about & don't mess with unknown and bugged up apps .
Why not try a re-flash (wipe cache & factory reset ) of BUILD8 ? If that doesn't also solve the issue then try Odin re-flash back to 2.2/2.3 and then again CM7.1 [with a Modem flash] to CM9 ?

[Q] Note wakes up after call hangup with button

Hi guys, my first post here on XDA.
The Note is my first Android phone, I previously had an iPhone. I really like the Note, but the most annoying thing about it is that it will always wake up after a call is ended.
I always call using the headset cable, and I both answer and hang up calls using the headset button. The phone is in my pocket. After hanging up the call (using the button) I happily go on doing whatever I was doing before. Meanwhile, in my pocket, my Note happily continues making pocket calls and clicks around at random!
It's driving me absolutely crazy. How can I fix it? Is there a mod I don't know about? An app? I've tried downloading another dialer (DialerEx) but no luck. It's obviously an OS "feature".
I first noticed this on stock ROM, so I tried RocketROM v21 in hope that it was fixed there. No luck.
Can someone please point me to a fix? I'm even willing to hack kernel code to get rid of this!
Thanks

Edit: I of course posted this thread in the wrong forum just to show my noobieness. Can't find a way to move it to Q&A so I leave that to the moderators... Sorry!
Moved To Q&A
No Problem, its moved
I'm curious about this as well. I use a headset 95% of the time and this drives me crazy. It's got to be TouchWiz I think since my AOSP phones never did/do this.

I just compared this to my friend's HTC (Sense UI), and he also does not have this problem. I find it problematic if this is part of the TouchWiz UI, because we don't have access to the source code for that, right? So, no way of fixing it beside throwing out TW completely?
How about the ICS TW? I'm still waiting for a stable CM9 release before jumping on the ICS bandwagon, so can someone with the ICS leak confirm that this is till an issue?
Thanks in advance!

Left speaker issue

I'm running TD 9.1, and prior was on 8.0. Tried both stock kernel, and a few other ones with no luck. At first when the sounds starts playing, the left speaker works fine, then with in a sec, it will fad to almost nothing. Is this something someone else has encountered? For all I know it has been like this since day one.. But I don't believe so.
Edit: I have also tried clean installs. i have not tried other roms yet.
Double edit: My xda search is not working, but google did for me. Found one other person having somewhat the same issue, but it was never answered. I hate to bump an old tread like that, after i have posted mine already.

I have the exact same issue. Tried million ROMs, sound patches and tricks but nothing change. The easiest way to see the difference between the two speakers is to run the Audio Test using HTC Function Test by dialing *#*#3424#*#*
Finally, I managed to get S-Off and now I'm going to get back to 100% stock flashing RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.3.exe, I'll do the test again and update the post.
EDIT: I'm full stock and it didn't fix it I guess I have to send it back...
BTW, what did you do? Did you fixed yours?
Running Sinless 5.1.5 now with elemental, everything works 100%. I guess for some reason my phone just didn't like TD, we all know they have a personality of there own..
Sorry for the long wait before response, I don't pay attention very well.
