When I try to install the drivers for my Vivid, (or One X), the driver, "My HTC", shows up in computer manager with an exclamation point by it stating the driver is unsigned. I have tried doing it manually, or letting HTC sync and sync manager do it. I haven't had any success, and want to root my Vivid badly. Can anybody help?

hey everyone, my apologies if im posting in the wrong section but i need help! i just got a vivid today with the 4.0.3 ota update. completely stock. not rooted or bl unlocked. ive been trying forever to get my comp to recognize my phone when in usb debugging and it keeps saying i need a disk to install the android drivers. did a command prompt and confirmed i have adb. restarted my phone and comp multiple times and still getting the same message! any ideas..? thanks for any input and the possible noob question. ive uploaded what keeps popping up
If you install HTC Sync you will get teh drivers. You may also be able to try the All in One Tool at the top of this forum, I see it has an install driver option (I've never used it).
i did try the all in one tools but when i clicked on install drivers nothing happened. ill install htc sync and try. thanks

Just a heads up for future reference, when using the All in one tool w/ vista/w7 you gotta run it as administrator.

Hello Everyone
Yesterday I tried to get my Nexus 7 with adb-Drivers working.
At this point, my HTC-Driver for my IncS was working. it was.
Now the Nexus 7 Driver and HTC Driver are completly messed up after i tried to install the nexus 7 driver. None of them is working. When I connect one of my IncS, Windows will search for Drivers but cancel this with: "No Driver found".
When I go into the Device-Manager, it shows my IncS as Android Phone in Other Devices. (See attached Screenshot)
I tried 1000times removing and reinstalling the HTC-Driver but this didn't help, Windows don't find any driver for this. HTC Sync is also don't recognize any phone, adb either.
Tried to go back with System Restore, but the Driver-Problem is still here.
Please help me, I need this driver working for syncing my phone.
Have a nice day

Try a right click on android phone in device manager, choose install driver and guide it manually to folder inside Program Files (x86)\HTC. There you have 2 folders HTC Driver and HTC BMP USB Driver just try with both.
Thanks for your help. But i found it another way:
Go to device manager, choose android phone and then update drivers.
Choose Search on Computer, then Search in a list of installed drivers.
Then goto list all drivers. Goto HTC Corpartion and take MyHTC.
Now its working. That dumb Windows never removed the HTC-Driver, but was too stupid to realise, that it should use this driver for the IncS...
Yes, your Win got stucked searching IncS drivers in Nexus folders cause you confused it with another phone connected. I had problems even with 2 HTC phones (Desire and IncS), so a few times it got stucked while i was trying to downgrade and install BlackRose, and that was a real pain in the ass...
With 2 HTC's I never had problems. It always worked fine with my Wildfire and Incredible S. But the Nexus 7 has messed up everything...
But thanks for your help, my phone is working now (with adb)
HTC Sync setup_1.1.66.0_htc not installing
Hi,
I recently bought a HTC one X, upgraded it to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I had the connect to PC option in ICS before which now does not exist. The problem is, when i try to install the HTC Sync setup_1.1.66.0_htc, it gives me the error "The files for installation requirement checkandremoveoldhtcdriver could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or cancelled downoad."
I have removed all possible HTC drivers that i found in the computer. I am using a Windows 7 Home premium X86 OS.
Need help! Googled and googled but have not found a solution so far.Called up HTC and they dont have a clue.

Device manager does not show anything. Tried that as well. Have posted in One X forum as well. Awaiting reply. Read in another forum that Sync manager has issues installing in Dell Inspiron. I have a Dell Inspiron. Dont know if that is true.

Hi guys,
Got a T-Mobile HTC One yesterday and I can't get the thing to be recognized by HTC Sync Manager. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it tons of times, restarting the phone, restarting my laptop. Nothing works. When I plug in the phone, I get a drive that has a link to the HTC website to download Sync Manager, which I've done already. And if I turn off USB debugging, I get a message from HTC Sync Manager that says it's unable to recognise the device because it's locked (which is false).
Are there any sort of drivers that need to be downloaded for the phone? It seems unable to "mount" as a drive like my old Google G2.
Any help would be appreciated guys.
I have a MacBook Pro on 10.8.3.

Thanks for the reply,
I turned USB debugging back on, still no luck. And unfortunately I'm on a Mac (OS 10.8.3). Those drivers are only for Windows, correct?
try changing the usb cable

im on mac as well when i plugged my htc in and it told me to get htc Sync Manager, it installed the drivers as it loaded so maybe uninstall Sync Manager plug the phone in see what happens
I tried uninstalling sync manager and trying again but nothing happens. And I don't know how to delete the drivers or install them. I've seen a couple of download links to "mac" drivers for the HTC one, but they actually end up being .exe files. HTC support has pretty much given up and told me to go with a third party sync manager.
Anyone know where I can uninstall or install the drivers? Thanks

I had the same issues and ended up using android file transfer for mac..
google "android file transfer mac" and you'll find it.
it's pretty fast and much better than sync manager.. you can leave sync manager installed, i think it's still using the drivers of the installation.
HTC Device Not Recognized Locked
I was having the same problem, and what solved it are the following steps:
1. Go to settings
2. Click on Developer options
3. Uncheck USB debugging (this was recommended in another forum)
4. I also turned Developer options off
5. Plug your phone back in
6. After I performed the previous steps, my computer installed device software, and once that was completed, the HTC Sync Manager recognized my device and allowed me to sync it.
Operating system Windows 7 with an i5 processor
Hope this helps.

I went through the same problem, the correct procedure is to remove the last driver from the device list reboot than install the nexus universal driver, there is a post about the naked driver which i used and worked fine. i spent three days try to resolve the same issue. good luck
I had the same issue yesterday. Download the drivers from koush and see if that helps.
So the nexus universal driver will work for the HTC one if I uninstall the driver that is listed in the device manager? I believe it just says HTC ONE currently, I'm not army computer atm. And could you possibly link the post with the naked driver you used. Thanks

Im still having the same issue, device not found. I've tried to delete the HTC one driver and turn off automatic driver installation but when I plug my device in it still installs the htc driver. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,
I had sync manager installed and it was working fine. Until I upgraded the phone to the latest os. Which was the Lollipop.
Now what happens is
Sync Manager opens, but says phone is disconnected. I see the phone in windows explorer, I can browse through all the files, I can see pictures, music, etc.. No problems.
I have tried uninstalling sync manager, reinstall. Rebooting many times. I have tried running a driver cleanup of all devices and still same thing happens.
USB debugging is enabled. I would like to root the phone and install a custom rom. But the adb utility doesn't see the phone as well. I have tried Hasoon2000 and it doesn't see the phone.
I have an sdcard as well on the phone and I can see that as well through windows exxplorer. I have tried other manager alternatives such as Mobi, phone explorer and they also don't see the phone but they open up as well when I connect my phone but just can't connect to the phone.
I have Windows 7 64
HTC One M8.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Its the M7 forum.
All I can say is, update your HTC drivers and also download the latest android sdk, make sure usb debugging is enabled in developer options.
correct forum is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8
