Incredible phones does not connect to router - HTC Incredible S

I have a NETGEAR N300 router, WPA mode, channel set to Auto and SSID broadcast unchecked. I have 5 different Android phones and 1 iPhone, 3 of them HTC Incredible and all these 3 do not connect to the router. AT&T inspire connects without a problem when it was on GingerBread (now rooted and upgraded to ICS). I have a Verizon Rezound (stock) running Gingerbread and connects to the router without a problem.
As soon as I enable SSID broadcast, 3 HTC Incredible devices connect immediately with the stored credentials. When I disable SSID broadcast, 3 of the phones immediately disconnect while the rest are working
HTC Incredibles are stock devices running Gingerbread
Any ideas? I tried switching channels around and that didn't solve either

Try rooting one and putting ics rom. Might be a bug with invisible ssid on it.

Can't connect my N1 with Linksys router

Hello
My N1 can connect easily to all kind of wifi routers and modems without problem but not with my fitness club's one, they have a Linksys N160.
My N1 can detect the signal, enter the password but then it's stucked with the message ''getting ip...''
Where is the problem? is it a know hardware or software compatibility stuff?
Sometimes rebooting the wifi router helps. Also make sure that when the guy over at your fitness club reboots the router you don't have the wifi of the club saved. delete the saved wifi profile, reboot the wifi router and then try. Cheers.
Already tried it several times. I saw that OS4 of iphone/ipod have the same problem with router enabling Wireless-N, I will ask him to limit the router to B/G
I also had similar problem with Linksys WAG54G2 (at latest firmware). Then I changed to much cheaper adsl router, TP-LINK WD-W8960N and no more connection problem.

I had problems using my Nexus One on my SMC Barricade 802.11b/g/n router when 802.11n was enabled. Turned it off; problems were gone. I don't think that works well yet, though some people have said otherwise. Could be a router-specific issue.
Ok so it's a WAG160N to be specific.
He tried to use mixed B/G instead of mixed (which would imply N too) but it still stuck at getting ip...
I told him to throw this router in the garbage because anyway SE and HP mobiles can't connect too,but he said he would do it but his boss will never accept to pay a penny more
My parents had a router that did exactly the same, my phone got stuck on Obtaining IP, whilst the missus 5800 connected and broswed just fine.
It was a crappy old thing and they replaced it the other week, now I can connect and browse just fine.
I also use a linksys WAG160N.
bought a nexus one, could not for the life of me get an internet connection.
turns out dns on router is poofed, so i just set DNS from my isp manually on the nexus one together with a static ip and booya interent at full 802.11n speeds.
sometimes its the simple things.
This sounds similar to when I set my router to channel 13 or whatever the max was on it. My N1 would only sometimes get a connection, but would eventually drop it and stay off. Solved it by selecting a lower channel (WifiAnalyzer suggesten channel 1 as the best alternative to channel max) on the AP.
I can see that in CM6 nightly that I have since started using I can choose regulatory domain, and thereby open up channels previously blocked. If you can't change anything on the AP this might help you solve the problem on your end.
So suggestions if none of the posts above me provide a solution is to run WifiAnalyzer and see how the channel-graph looks.

Static IP with Belkin Wireless N Router

Hi all
Does anybody have an Incredible S using Wi-Fi via a Belkin Wireless N Router?
I have the F5D8636-4 V1 and can't get the internet working.
I have tried setting up a static ip address, it says it's connected, but I still don't have internet access
Can anybody help?
Are other devices managing to connect to the internet through the wireless network?

I have a Belkin Wireless N, and I also had the same issue.
I also tried everything that I could, and nothing worked.
I have no idea if this was a coincidence or the actual problem, but my router wifi channel was set to 13. When I changed it to channel 2, my Incredible S connected to wifi instantly.
Strange.

Check out this thread. Seems to be an issue with HTC phones in general - they only work on Wi-Fi channels 1 to 11. It can be fixed, but you have to root the phone to change the system setting that controls it.

Droid can't see wifi router

I have an unrooted OG Droid running on stock Froyo (2.2.3). It's off-contract, but I have been using it by connecting to my wifi router (Netgear WNDR3700). Everything has been working fine until Friday when it stopped connecting to my wifi router. I tried reconnecting, but it cannot seem to find the router at all, even if I'm standing right next to it. My router does not appear on the list of available wi-fi networks when I look at Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-fi settings. The strange thing is that it seems to pick up all of the other wi-fi networks from my neighbors without any problems; it just can't seem to find my wifi router.
All of my other Android devices (Nexus S, Evo 3D, Galaxy Tab, Logitech Revue) can find and connect to my router without any problems. It's just as though the router doesn't even exist from the perspective of the OG Droid. I haven't made any recent configuration changes on any of my devices or router. My other wi-fi devices (laptops, printer) don't have any issues finding and connecting to my router either.
I've tried rebooting, pulling the battery, etc. without any luck. Any ideas?
By chance did you unplug the router, my og DROID loses wifi sometimes and even though phone sees it won't connect but usually resetting router gets it to reconnect.

I haven't done that yet, because as far as I can tell, the router is working fine. The issue that I'm seeing differs from yours as the phone doesn't even see the router right now.
It's a bug in Android. Delete all the remembered wifi accounts on the phone and then you should be able to scan again. Once you scan, it should pick up the router again. Had this happen on a couple different android devices.

I gave this a try, but it didn't work. I can still see all of the other available wi-fi networks near me, but not my own router. Any other thoughts?

I've had this with my router whenever i reset it.
its because there are too many routers in your area on the same wifi channels . change the channel your router is on until its one with less or no routers on it and it will appear eventaullly.

I have same problem with you.
My LWW cannot find/detect the home wifi, but another device (laptop and samsung galaxy mini) can work well with the wifi network.
but my LWW can find another wifi network except my home network. but sometimes when I don't use the LWW for long time, and when I started to turn the wifi on, it can work well. but after I stopped the connection and start to use the wifi again, it cannot find the network again
I just had the same problem and fixed it.
Sometimes routers are configured to select and use the less crowded wireless channel. That can cause your wifi to eventually use channel 12 or 14. Like sleepyguy007 said, it is more likely to happen if there are too many wifis in the area and all channels are crowded.
As far as I know, Android devices are by default configured to scan only up to channel 11. So if the wifi is in 12 or 14, it will not be recognized.
Go to the wifi config screen, where all the networks are listed. There, with the menu button, go to "Advanced"->"Regulator domain" and set Android to scan all 14 channels, that should do the trick.
I hope that is the cause of the problem and you can fix it... Otherwise it could be a bug, and the solution may be harder
I'm so happy & surprised!!!
I had same problem and with your helps(phobophille & sleepyguy007) my problem solved:laugh: :fingers-crossed: :good:

have you tried rebooting your router?
Hi,
Have rebooted router and still no good. Yesterday my Note connected to WiFi at work No probs. Got home and it got stuck on obtaining IP. Today get to work and my Note will Not connect to work WiFi now either Same prob stuck at obtaining IP have restarted the work router also still no help. Had a look round seems to be a problem on the Galaxy SII also. Just for info I have not added any new apps for days.. must be the phone buy why?
Any ideas?
Thanks
S
Lets try this:
Check whether your laptop can get an IP from your wifi.
I. YES
- Turn on wifi on your note.
- Go to Applications -> Settings -> Wifi settings.
- Look down at Wifi network.
- Touch into the name of your wifi then choose "Forget network".
- Turn off wifi on your note.
- Turn it on again.
- Enter the key and see what's happen.
II. NO
- Check your router configuration.
If you hav have enabled mac protection on router, reset it.

Hi,
Laptops x3 and other peoples phones can get onto WiFi ok, both at work and at home, my Note Will connect ok to the BTFON / BTOpenzone (off of the same routers) with no problems again both at work and at home. We have changed nothing with the routers (BTHome hub 2 and BTBusiness hub at work).
Can you advise what to check with the router as all seems to be in order for all other WiFi devices, it's just my Note that is having a fit and wont connect?
Many Thanks
S

Hi, Re mac protection, the routers auto set up and I am unaware how to check re mac protection. I cant understand why has my Note decided to stop connecting out of the blue?
I have similar issues.
I have setup a WIFI hotspot and all my non-Android devices can login without any issues (Notebooks x2, iphone3, iphone4, ipad), however my Note and my Blade (all running 2.3.6) and an Acer A500 Tablet (running Android 3.1) cannot connect.
The android devices see the hotspot and will attempt to get an IP, but most of the time will not succeed.
Any suggestions?
I'm having the same problem with the "stuck at obtaning IP address" problem.
Just got my Note 2 weeks ago and am still not able to connect to the internet using wifi.
I can't connect to my home wifi nor starbucks nor any other public wifi. When i use static address, i was able to connect to my home wifi BUT could not use the internet. I really do not know what to do...PLEASE HELP!!!
I too have experienced this. Running stock 2.3.6 + root. happened with lots of different routers. Usually solved with power cycling router & note wifi. Very annoying.
I think (personally), it has nothing to do with the Note at all, BUT on most samsung smartphones...
I read somewhere that Sammy's phones have a weak side in detecting and connecting to any wifi device...
I personally tested this also with my Note, side by side with my friend's Nokia, a Blackberry and a Galaxy Nexus as well.. both Samsung phones stucked at "Obtaining IP address..." for some time, while the two phones (Nokia and the blackberry) connected thru wifi with ease... no problems at all..
I have same problem periodically at my sister's house, especially when a lot of other mobile devices using the router. If you google the issue there are many with same problem.
Simplest way to solve it for me has been to unplug & then plug the router back in. Rather annoying.
I had same prob with my galaxy tab... Forgetting a network won't help..
Nor there is fault of router...
Google this problem you will find results with solutions for xda only... (did the same but don't remember the link)
Al t bst!!

[Q] WIFI 5ghz connection issue

I initially had the HTC one connected to my dual band modem/router but overnight it now won't connect to the 5ghz band.
It either gets stuck on the ip address/authentication stage or skips the process stating that the internet signal is poor (or words to that effect)
Any help would be appreciated before I have to send the phone back
It happened to me with bp kernel.
However, I'd say overall 5ghz on N sucks, it might be my device it might also be my old Linksys 610n... Though the ipad gets stuck to the same frequency without issues.

I can now connect to the router using a static IP address but no internet access. HTC support didn't help so guess it is going for repair.:crying:
Should try setting the channel width to 20mhz and see if that helps.
