Not sure that you have root - if you have flashed to official ics a week ago. Check out Dr Ketan He is the man! I think once you root your phone you will be able to install the theme.

I found that article.
That's the normal way to flash the phone.
If you are experienced and confident than go for it.
But you can find better and detail guides here on XDA.
That is not recommended for new user. Please READ, READ, READ before doing anything.

Unlocking network control key options!

I bought my unlocked un-rooted gt-n7000 and flashed the LRG firmware a month ago, but last night it self-updated to LRK and well now it's locked and asking me for the key.
I have now the question regarding what to do next...
I would like to hear your suggestions because I don't want root or pay to unlock it.
And well if I end up paying I don't know of any safe web that can for sure give you the key.
But on the other hand I am thinking of rooting, but I see so many custom ROM's etc. I would like to know of a stable custom ICS 4.0.4 ROM.
I appreciate your comments on this! Thanks!!!

I'm sick of this
Samsung recently released the new XXLRQ (ICS 4.0.4) Update for the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 that combines features from Galaxy S III and the Note II, I'm pretty sure you all know about this.
So I flashed the update using ODIN and it worked perfectly, the ROM is great and all but the problem is the Network Lock Key !
I can't use my phone as AN ACTUAL PHONE! No calls, no texts, no mobile network, nothing!

[Q] Rooting and upgrading to Jelly Bean

Hello,
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I am not good at this and very nervous of doing something wrong and destroying my mobile... If you could please help me?!
My Galaxy S is:
Frimware version
2.3.3
Baseband version
I9000BWJV2
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813*[email protected]*#2
Build nr
Gingerbread.xwjvh
The mobile is very very slow and very difficult to use because of this. I have seen that I can root the mobile and upgrade it to Jelly Bean, and hopefully my problems will be resolved...
I am just not sure what kind of programme I should download to root it... also I'm very nervous about in what steps I need to go about to upgrading to Jelly Bean and what I need to download and in what order to do this.
I'm not sure what I download to my laptop's desktop and what I need on my mobile itself...
If you could help me with a step by step guide I would be eternally grateful.
Many Many Thanks
Wishing you all Happy Holidays.
Kaarina

Basically what you're doing is flashing the newest GB firmware for your phone using Odin and then rooting it, also using Odin. After that you have access to " recovery mode", from which you simply choose a zip file with your ICS or JB ROM and flash it.
If your phone is normally working now, I suggest you retry. This process is fairly simple, given you follow all the steps.
Edit: wait, looks like you have a Brazilian i9000.
Since you're using a Brazilian I9000B, disregard what i wrote above, most ROMs aren't compatible, read this

thanks mate but I'm on version 2.1 but in ur thread it says, Rooting GT -I9000 2.3.6 [India DD JV7 / JVB]....... should I go ahead with that rooting process still? just wanna make sure cause I really don't wanna brick my phone
on 2.1??
why you are on 2.1???official update is released since ages..just update to 2.3.6 and then follow the same.
this two steps done very carefully
1 when you connect yor phone to odin in download mode the yellow light will be blinked in id:com.
2 put kernel file in PDA only
3 uncheck re partition and just click your device will be rooted enjoy.

just go in settings and then navigate to software and in that there is "check for updates"
one advice: get some basic information regarding rooting, recovery, kernel etc....i root my phone after doing research for month and then i proceed.here in XDA lots of information available very easily just go through posts and forums.read and re-read then proceed.
if u do something wrong we are here to help you but make sure you know what you are doing.

Follow these steps sequentially; safest, tried and tested by over 10,000 people on GT-i9000:
1. Go back to stock: Flashing To Original Rom - Using Odin on GT-i9000
2. Root your device: Rooting GT-I9000 2.3.3 [India DDJV9]
3. Install ICS: Installing Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0.4 On Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
4. Install JB: Installing Jelly Bean 4.1 on Galaxy S GT-I9000
