[Q] CM10 (Unofficial) 3g issue - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok im not sure if i am the only one with this issue but i have installed the Jelly bean ROM and it is damned nice only major issue i have is i cant get any kind of connection to the HSDPA network (Optus (Virgin) Australia).
I am connecting with UMTS fine but in every other build CM7 CM9 it has auto switched over to HSDPA when im actually using the network ... cm10 it seems doesnt and i cant find any settings to change it as HSDPA is much faster.
Am i doing something wrong or is this a known issue your help will be greatly appreciated

3G connectivity issues. All ROMs

For quite some time now, my phone has been having some terrible 3G connectivity issues.
It just drops from HDSPA to UMTS and gives me no data for chunks of time. And every now and then, the entire 3G turns off(as if the APN has been switched).
This has been occurring with MIUI 2.2, MIUI 2.3, CM6 and CM7.
Im using 5.12.00.08 radio (latest i think). Im unsure what HBOOT I'm running, but the full baseband version is "32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08". So i think I'm running HBOOT 32 but im not sure. With the CM and MIUI roms the problem was occurring on stock kernels and monk's.
Any ideas on what could be causing the issues? If you would like me to send logcats i can(i haven't seen anything in there to indicate any issues)...
Also i found a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931728
Not sure if thats related.
Seemingly the problem started occouring after i was using alot with WiFi Tethering with Wireless Tether by Lemons and co.
I'm using Virgin Mobile AU as carrier.
Also, the problems occurs before installing ANY apps as well(and afterwards obviously).
32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08
mine is only 32.50.00.32U... IMO just try flashing a new radio, start with 5.08 instead of 5.12 and see if that works then if you are content then leave it... else flash 5.12 after and try to root out the problem...
cheers!
The default setting in nexus one is WCDMA preferred... i.e. it connects to 3G if available.
If the signal strength of the 3G network is lower than than 2G network,
it switches to 2G rather than connecting via 3G.
However, Its a known limitation that Nexus one 3G reception is comparatively less due to physical properties of the antenna.

[Q] JVQ HSDPA not working!?

Hi guys! I'm having some problems with HSDPA after updating to JVQ. I'm on stock JVQ and I can't get to HSDPA... I only get 3G speeds and it's damn slow! I used to have HSDPA on JVP but after upgrading to JVQ it doesn't work anymore.
I tried the HSDPA menu but even if I change something the settings still appear on OFF and can't do anything about it. Can someone help me!?
Hi, I had the exact same problem earlier today with JVQ and my 3G doesn't work any longer.
The only was I couldmake HSDPA work was to download the APN configuration settings from my service provider, via their webiste on wireless, (THREE, Australia) and it works fine now
I suggest you attempt the same with your service provider. Good luck

VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday Issue

Hey guys I just got my new Raider LTE from bell yesterday, and decided to flash this rom "VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday"
I was just wondering if anyone else on the bell or any other network using this rom and the required kernel are having issues with connection speeds? I notice too that it jumps alot between 3g and hspa alot too, most I have gotten is 1.5 mbps on a speedtest.
Tested my Atrix and I got 14 mpbs same area and coverage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I guess the first question would be did you flash through fastboot on PC or using a different method?
Which of cache/dalvik/data did you wipe prior to installing the ROM?
Did you make sure the APN info in the Raider is consistent with the Atrix?

The 3G/H flicker thing is a know bug, even stock ROM has it, the difference is that stock ROM only shows 4G icon for every type of network, no matter if you are on a 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ or 4G network, it will always show the 4G icon.
For the speed you can check your APNs, it must be a different one from the one you are using on your Atrix. Try to delete every APN and create new ones based on the Atrix ones.
Awesome thanks guys, I had flashed back to stock to try and fix it, I also changed the apn settings and it seemed to make no difference, Bell uses some hybrid network so that could possibly have had am effect. Flashing back to custom Rom now that I know its a known issue.
Cheers
You could also try changing MTU through ifconfig, but this could cause reliability issues. So far, I've only changed MTU on the 802.11 radio for this phone.

3G problem

Hello, this is my first post in this forum. Sorry if I have done anything wrong by posting here. Anyway the main thing is a problem I have on my Galaxy Mini S5570. After flashing a large number of custom roms like Emanonv5 and CyanogenMod 7.2 RC5.7, I came over the V6_Supercharger. During that time, I was on TheWhisps' AOKP rom. After installing everything possible from the V6_supercharger, suddenly I couldn't connect to 3G network. I can connect to the 2G network but not 3G. In fact, when I used *#*#4636*#*# and put WCDMA only, the signal bar on my phone showed that there was totally zero network coverage. I wiped data and reset-ted a bunch of times , flashing roms and many others, the problem couldn't be solved. Does anyone out there encounter this too? If you got a solution please reply. Thank you so freaking much
hav u tried putting phone on only wcdma.
smtymes in auto mode there is problem.

Chek if the 3G works in another mob. Coz dat doesnt seems to be issue with phone.. Try to do dat n if that doesnt. Make sure u install any stable roms n try n also make sure u emable only WCDMa as the abov post said. Change from auto to only WCDMA
Hit thanks if that helped u:thumbup:
Sent from my GT-S5570 using XDA
never had this problem with supercharger but asking the question in the supercharge thread will help alot
also check if only 2g is ticked
I have done the WCDMA only but the signal bar is empty. When I clicked Auto, the bar stays empty which I think that it can detect the 3G network but fails to connect. However when I put 2G only, the bar is full. The thing is, I encounter the problem both and stable and unstable roms. What I suspect and am afraid now is hardware failure Is it possible for software to cause hardware failure? Thanks alot

[Q] Mobile data issues, wrong baseband?

Hi Guys.
I'm having mobile data issues with my N7000 on CM11. I'm not totally sure when it started, but I changed network providers and also re-flashed the phone from OMNI to CM and used a modified PIT file all over 2 days.
My problem is that I have mobile data when connected on 3G and H+, but when ever connected on just plain old H I have no data throughput at all. The phone thinks it does, but I can assure you I don't. Annoyingly most of the cells around where I live are H and not H+ so it leaves me pretty screwed.
I currently have 2014/08/31 nightly CM 11 4.4.4
Baseband N7000XLT3
Is this the right baseband for a N7000 in the UK on the network Three?
cheers guys.
Bump
Baseband number looks fine to me, I think that's general Europe.
I too have had that problem but only when I have the "3g" icon. I haven't ever been able to solve it.
