Touchscreen stops working, many other issues... - Nexus 7 General

I am extremely disappointed with this device (My first tablet)
Here are all the issues:
-glass not flush, cracking noises (partially fixed with tightening screws)
-touchscreen stops working if tablet is on a cloth surface (like bed)
-touchscreen stops working after just a few minutes of gaming
-colors washed out, slight light bleeds
- speaker makes clicking noises now and then
- touchscreen not responsive, craps out sometimes even when not gaming
THE NEXUS 7 IS UTTER **** OR MINE IS DEFECTIVE

Swap it out, in the many other threads above hits about defects sounds like they are aware and have fixed issues. Plus it sounds like you got a bunk screen. Only issue i have is the lift

Galaxy Ace Docking Station

Just wanted to share this with some people. I was bored last night so when I was at the store and I seen a battery powered speaker with a phone rest I thought I could do a little modification to it. I have now made myself a Galaxy Ace Docking Station! lol. This is my Alpha 1 Build and I have many ideas for improvements!!
Alpha 1 features:
-Micro USB connection for charging and PC Sync
-Loudspeaker for portable listening
-Audio out for connection to stereo speakers
-Build cost $2.00 (had all parts but the portable speaker already)
Alpha 2 ideas:
-Support for microphone
-Better fit and appearance
-Looking for a ROM that supports 180 degree screen rotation
Alpha 3 ideas:
-creating a mount that doesn't have the phone upside down
Any ideas or input would be helpful! I find this really to take the edge off the boredom. With a few parts off Ebay I should be able to come up with something decent looking.

That is epic! except it looks funny upside down lol xD
Awesome! As far as I know, the Cyanogen 7.2.0 support 180 degree screen rotation.

Nexus 4 Screen Impurities

At the top of my screen, there are two spots leading up to the edge where the blacks (can only notice it on blacks) are faded. It almost looks like there's a leak where the light is bleeding though, except there is no light bleeding through. Not sure what it is. My camera picked it up a lot better then you can notice it, but you can still notice it when the screens all black.

If you don't think you have this, I would still point a good camera at it to check, because it picks things up that you don't sometimes.
thats called "blacklight bleed" and ALL sidelit LCDS have this issue to some degree (iphone5, htc one X, even your desktop monitor)... you would need a SAMOLED screen to completely get rid of it

Its an expensive camera that's better discerning than the human eye...
If I can't see it with my naked eye, I'm not too worried about it

Brightness problem

Anyone having this problem with one side of the screen being brighter? Very noticeable on Grey's and some blues.

Every Samsung AMOLED screen is like that.
My galaxy s3 and note 2 were not like that

Hmmm...I was laying in bed last night streaming some videos because I couldn't sleep. I think I would have noticed something like that on the black loading page...I recall everything was of uniform brightness. I'll have to check again later & specifically look for it. However, I'm incredibly anal about that kind of stuff so I think it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
I have a Charcoal Grey unit, by the way.
Opened up Chrome to that blank screen like you did and mine looks normal. I was thinking perhaps it was just a viewing angle sort of problem, but every angle I tried looked the same...normal. Not sure what could be causing that for you.

We've come a long way with display technology and bad displays are a lot more rare than they used to be, but a bad one still will slip through from time to time. A trip down to the local AT&T store to swap it out for a new one will fix the problem.

[Q] Light leak/irregular light line across the bottom?

Has anyone else had this?
It's not dissimilar to this issue in the old LG G PAD

It is not as prominent, but it is there. It's like tiny lights, which illuminate the bottom edge of my Z3+, are there across the bottom - more visible on whites, or bright colours.
I can live with it (I think) if it's a common issue, but is it or should I replace?
Many thanks. Once more, it's not as prominent ! Same effect, about half a centimeter, if that, long.

That s because of bad build quality :|
that may not cause any issue but it s not nice, ask for replacement :good:

I've had a 3rd unit, and it was worse than this one - with the first, white, being the worst of them all.
It's so minimal, this odd light bleed I mention, that I'll keep the 2nd one I think. It's like a very very thin lightbleed, only visible against red or blue, in a wavy pattern - less than 2-3 milimeters. I think, overall, the panel job is not so good because they made the phone thinner.
I don't have it

Newly purchased - Small slit at top?

I can't find information elsewhere on the internet, so I thought I would confirm here. I just purchased this phone and where the metal border meets the glass screen at the top, there is a very thin gap. It begins just before the decorative matte strip at the top. It became more noticeable (assuming dust is getting in) the more I've been talking on the phone.
Is this the speaker?
upload a photo of it, personally I don't recognise what you're describing.
I just peeled back my case enough to look, yes that seems to be the speaker opening.

You have to zoom in. The gap starts and ends where I posted the arrows. I can fit a folded post it inside it by about 1mm.
All I can assume is that this is the speaker location.
yes I have that too. I had never noticed it until you prompted me to look.
thinking about it, it would be weird if nothing was there.
nice colour choice BTW

Yes I believe it's a speaker as well.
