Anyone have info on build dates or hardware revisions? My 16gb was 100% fine when got it about 11 days ago, now screen is lifting a little and left side creaks a bit. Touch seems less responsive too. Wondering if any changes have been made to address these issues?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My build number is JRO03D
Was fine at first, after 11 days started lifting a little and touch response was not as good.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Everyone's build number will be JRO03D, that is the latest android software, including on phones.
I'd be surprised if there were any difference in hardware revisions this soon. A revision would mean a design amendment, and therefore a subtle change in manufacture.
We don't know (with great certainty) if the screen lift issue is poor manufacture of a good design, or a correct manufacture of a bad design.

That's your software info, not build info. That changes with every android version.

It might be worth posting some comparison pictures to show people what you mean.

All of those things can be solved by updating it to the same version of android as the other one. They are all created equal, the firmware is just different

What he says is apparently truth, I saw a review someone when also had two n4s, one with and without update and you could see the difference that you describe distinctly, and when the update was performed, they were calibrated to the same levels

i did notice before i updated the first one, it was more saturated. My observation above is based on the same version.

What's 'lower battery'? Do you mean worse battery life, or it shipped with a lower amount of charge already in it?

The screen temp difference is normal. I work with hundreds of iPhones every day and every one of them are a different color.

Hi everyone! I recently had bought a N7 but I'm still waiting for device arrival (I'm on Colombia) the 30th of December.
So, here is the thing : I just want to build a list of mostly n7 devices with almost zero troubles using the ssn of them. I have read that A90 ones are very faulty and the latest (c90k) are mostly very stable. Please, give me more feedback about it.

They are shipping ca0's now. The two I've gotten have been flawless.
This thread seems kind of iffy, what are you asking? If you want to know what models of the N7 have the least problems there is already a thread where you would e able to find that information.

Sorry but you're not going to find a flawless build.. I've had five now from c80 to ca0k all of them had some sort of screen lift. Its just a design flaw. Never had any other problems other than the lift. Really nice device. Doesn't bother me.

So I better expect the screen lift in my incoming n7???
Enviado desde mi MT27i usando Tapatalk 2
FWIW, my N73G unit is 100% perfect.
Zero screen lift, zero dead/stuck pixels, no backlight flickering issue, no problems whatsoever.
If you look at the internal components, there were some major differences between the 3G and Wi-Fi units - not just the inclusion of the SIM slot. Not sure if that helped "fix" the other issues, but I'm happy.

Pretty sure the chances of getting a good one are greatly improved but there still wasn't a "fix" but rather work arounds. So there is still a chance of getting one with a little lift. Again, this lift is really retarded and only noticeable once you look for it...
But the work around was by removing a few screws which seems to relax the plastic so it doesn't flex as much. My 32gb looks good perfect as did my launch 16gb N7. I had 2 16gb in between with lift... fixed with homemade washers on the screws.
32gb was October release which was CA0K or whatever. Anything after A (ie. B C D E F) should be far enough down the line to have this resolved since it is a known issue.
Perhaps they are using more / different glue or better screws or something but they know and should be looking for this before it leaves the plant.

But the first thing I noticed when I turned it on ...the colors were very nice. They are no where near as bad as when i got my first nexus 4 directly from Google...
And another surprise to me was there was no T-Mobile crap loaded on it even tho one of the reps told me there was going to be ...

could someone type this in the terminal on the n4 -> su (press enter) -> dmesg | grep lcd
but you must reboot before doing this.
it should put out a line where it says lcd_id: primary or so. could someone post whats stays there like primary?
All Nexus 4's will be pure Google phones. No aftermarket bloatware will be found in a N4 from Google or N4 from T-Mobile. :good:

A sudden fix is not likely but not impossible. Would one of you please go to
Settings/About Phone, scroll to the bottom and take a screenshot (power button and vol-)?
I'm interested in the Kernel Version and Build Date.
I wonder if they are different than the ones of the latest 4.2.2 release.
The highlight of my day was when my life long Apple user borrowed my phone to check a sports score and said man this this feels so sexy and is fast as hell. The screen is nice. In using trinity and custom gamma.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Hi
After going back to stock 4.2.2 using the factory images and clearing everything before installing the images I noticed the LCD colours have changed completely. The more washed out look I was used to is replaced by a much richer display, matching the HTC One X now, although not quite as overly saturated as the One X which is a bit too saturated.
My phone is from November and I was very familiar with the more washed out look, and I just assumed it was fixed in 4.2.2 that I see now.
Perhaps the new settings can only be picked by a complete wipe and install, hence phones shipping with 4.2.2 look better as they are a clean install, whereas maybe an OTA isn't changing the calibration settings.
Regards
Phil
Kind off topic , but im thinking about ourchasing from the play store and continuing using tmobile. Will the insurance and warranty work the same as if in had purchased from them directly? I jist dont want to overspend If I dont have to.

So I actually posted this in the RMA thread but it just got lost in all the posts. Plus I can't find it posted anywhere else.
First two phones I had were 310k, both had faults and had to download the patch before using the phone.
My third phone is 311k, no faults and it came with KitKat preinstalled (no patch to download)
To check what build (batch) you have, look on your box where it shows the model #, imei # etc and look for S/N. The first 4 characters = build #.
I'm going to try and keep a log of all the build numbers and see if there are any changes to the phone like with the Nexus 4.
So.. so far:
310k - Need to install KitKat - Seems to have quality issues from my experience
311k - Preinstalled KitKat - Quality control seems better
This is just based off of three phones though. More information is needed.
Mine downloaded the update at first boot, i don't have the box here right now, but i will report the build version tomorrow
Edit:
ye version 310k here too, lets see what the rma one will be, it should be here next week
yep mine says 310k and mine updated when i turned it on.. kitkat was NOT pre installed
When mine came in the mail November 15th it already had the update patched on it straight out of the box so i guess I had the second batch. Mine is 310K
Mines 310k had to update to kit kat

I have an 311K (just got it today) and while it has LTE (unlike my 310), the vibration motor now sounds like a laser beam...? :crying:
I got a 311K yesterday - no update was needed.
- The camera is slow
- Vibration is weaker than my Galaxy Nexus, but still noticeable when it rings in my pocket
- The speaker seems pretty loud to me. I can feel it vibrate a bit when I play music
310k, everything seems to be good

Technically, they all come with "Key Lime Pie" preinstalled (an early build of 4.4). They're patched to KitKat right after startup.

Eh. I'd be pissed if they never made any revisions.
Do the new buttons protrude less?
I wonder if I should send mine in. I have legit rma issues but I'm waiting it out for a good hardware revision.

Somehow managed to get a speck of dust under my screen. Not sure if its been there since I got the phone or what. Its very tiny, but every time I see it, its annoying. Would that constitute an RMA? I don't really care about the revision changes, but just curious for in the future.
