I like my ASUS laptop.
Your best bet is to google both laptops and read the reviews on each of them.
well asus VGA is poor and acer is bad in quality, but what about dell inspiron 5520?
Dell is a joke and Acer makes nice laptops...

Anything but an Acer. Poor poor build quality. Asus have improved hugely since the N53 though, and HPs overheat terribly, I have one. Although the new gen don't I think

If you want a laptop that can play games just make sure you have an HD graphics card or you won't even be able to play Diablo 3.

I also vote for ASUS. I have one (x52 aka k52) and I love it. Support is also good in my place.
HP has indeed heating problem on some laptops. I have faced as well.
Dell is good but I won't go for it. Its like spending money for the brand name. Same goes for Sony in my opinion.
Acer is good as well but I heard issues on some of there laptops, as well as less resale value.
But this is just my opinion. Research more on reviews and decide. We mustn't decide on brand names. Its the product we need to decide and use!
Good Luck
Asus have heat issues, and some came with a faulty screen, still i like the brand i have a G72GX and a desktop essentio something...
If you really are a heavy gamer you should check the samsung 7 series at amazon.. its about $1.7k thou

He had a galaxy s 2 epic touch and says its not as good as that either. I asked him why didn't he buy an iPhone since he liked it so much and he said that its because of "faster wifi speeds from sprint"
Yes, those words exactly.
I showed him my nexus, and he said that screen is not as good as the retnia display. We compared pictures and it made the iPhone look washed out. But he never changed his opinion because he said apple makes the best phones ever.
I partly agree, needless to say. I'm buying the galaxy nexus with an iPad. Or a iPhone and a kindle fire. ( for face time of course, can't do it on my main rig.. I run Linux gnu)

Boss - My iPhone can do this and this and this and this...... it's so much better.
Me - My phone can make a call.

Some go to apple because they see it as the best. Like everything from apple is the best. Let them be and after some time they will all be bowing to Google.

I don't know or care. It does not even matter for what he stated. Poking fun at iPhone GSM users by saying how is your 4g service is just dumb.
On the subject of fanboyism... i know someone who thinks apple is soo great he was willing to buy a iPhone 3G cause he thinks its better (Mainly cause he claims lcd is far higher quality than amoled). Wouldn't even consider a 3GS or a 4 because they are too expensive.. SO yea cheapo fanboy.
To make things worse he is judging android based on a old samsung phone that was end of life when he bought it and was stuck at like eclair (was forced to root it out of box just to make it do anything half decent). He wouldn't even consider a Nexus S with Super LCD (i9023) because it was too expensive.
To simplify things.... you can't win a war with a fanboy you are just hitting your head on a brick wall.

arguing with an apple fan boy is like arguing with a lawyer or any to be lawyer. It never ends and when it gets near closing, they bring up some new moot point.

I have a 32gb Touchpad, and a Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 is more portable, comfortable, and stable. Typing on the Nexus 7 is much easier, and faster. The battery on the Nexus lasts considerably longer than the Touchpad. The Touchpad is a nice device, but I don't use it at all now that I have a Nexus 7.
I've got a Touchpad and a 7'' Android tablet. I'm using the first one as my multimedia device and Internet browsing at home (BT keyboard + mouse) and the second one when I've to use it outside home.

On the popular topic, I bought the n7 and took it back. The screen really does feel too small after using the touch pad for so long, and performance didn't feel much different either.

If it helps, I've got both. I'm using the N7 pretty well exclusively just because it's much lighter (better for reading) and fits in my cargo pocket at work. The N7 is faster, sharper, has better support (obviously) and will have for a long time. I recently went away for a week and purposely took just the N7 to see how I would get on and was pleasantly surprised.
Downsides are, it's smaller so not as good for web browsing but is still usable, the kicker is 'no flash' since it's jelly bean. There are ways of getting round that for some things but it does mean my favourite news site is a bit crippled.

Where does the lack of flash hurt you the most? I'm seriously considering trading my TP for a N7 and I'm really worried about the web-browsing trade offs (i.e. screen size, lack of flash).

Hey since FLASH is not officially supported on jb since I started using the web browser PUFFIN it has FLASH built in its the best browser IMO. It has a trackpad built in that you can/off easily.
Its the closest to browsing on a PC I've ever seen you can put it mobile browsing mode. I've tried sky fire, opera, Firefox, stock, chrome and I like PUFFIN the best.
Checkout projectfree.tv in puffin browser compares to any other.
Puffin is also available for iOS.

With Nexus selling loads why do I feel so lonely? I have yet to spot anther Nexus7 user.Have any of you spotted one yet?If so when and where?
I've seen several. A friends of mine has one. At places like chick fil a and Atlanta bread they r a frequent.
I live in Alabama though.

I've never met anybody in person with a nexus anything. That's one reason why I love the nexus line. It's a lot more rare to me and not "trendy". It's not a social status symbol.

Most places are still sold out of Nexus 7 so many would-be Nexus 7 owners have not gotten theirs yet. With that said, other devices such as iPad or Kindle have been out much longer so it's not really a fair comparison either.

Coming from somebody who's screen magically cracked without me dropping it, I would still say the N7 is one of the best tablets out there, hands down. Initial product release is always a risky time for consumers, and I knew that walking into it. You can say that it should be perfect from the get-go and yeah I would agree, but replace the N7 with anything else, whether it be the iPad, a TV, a Chevy pickup truck, it doesn't matter. Lemons exist, especially during the initial run. Couple that with the fact that there are thousands of people who never complained about their N7 and the greater picture becomes a little clearer. Forums by nature tend to attract enthusiasts of that product as well as negativity since users with issues tend to seek out a place to vent (forums being a nice target), whereas the majority of people wouldn't bother to seek out a place to speak highly of the product - they'd rather utilize that time USING that product. I think my opinion is further swayed to the positives because ASUS *did* fix mine under warranty. Granted, I called them a few times so they knew my level of frustration before they even had a chance to work on it, but the end result was a 100% functional fixed unit. I'm a fan.
Love my Nexus 7. Only complaint was that I was cheap and purchased the 8GB version. The 16GB would have been a better match.
Just got mine yesterday and Im loving it, its a c80, the only problem I found is the crackling sound that it makes when I unlock it or select something, only problem so far, hope not to get one of the other major issues...
I unlocked and rooted mine the day I bought it (a week ago).
All went well via RomManager Premium, until I tried flashing a Rom.
Which then took into boot loop for a day or so.
Eventually got it back to life via Nexus Toolkit (Wugs).
Now left it in Stock mode using NOVA Launcher Prime and all is good!
Best 7" Tab ever, and I used to own a Sammy 10.1 Tab.
Awesome value for money.
Thumbs up to Android/Google! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Same here. I'm so tired of seeing all this negativity through the Nexus 7 threads. My device is literally perfect. I've had it for about a month the now and love it more each day. No issues whatsoever, and receiving my Portenzo Bookcase in the mail the other day was the icing on the cake!!! I love this thing. Very affordable, and for the money, I got much, MUCH more than I bargained for. I'd gladly pay 250$ or even a bit more for a product of this caliber.

im tempted to go buy a nexus 7 today in town for £190
do you guys think its worth its money ? i have a galaxy s2 on cm10.1 jellybean 4.2 so i guess its just a bigger version of my phone
have you been dissappointed with the nexus 7 when you bought it or do you think you have got a goot tablet?
cheers guys!
I bought it for christmas for my wife.
I have a Desire HD and she has a Incredible S as smartphones.
I have a Samsung Tab 10.1.
So as mobile tab or for ebooks it's the best one I think.
And it's a very good price. For a tablet in 10.1 inch you pay 400 £.
If you want to invest 400 £ buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 otherwise a Nexus.
You wont't be wront.

I have been surprisingly impressed with my nexus 7. I bought it at launch, and I was already heavily involved with the HTC rezound and the Transformer prime tablet. I had also had two iPads so I thought I knew all I needed to know about tablets. Had my local staples not had one in stock aftrer launch or had it been more expensive I wouldn't have tried it.
But I'm so glad I did, because the 7 inch size surprisingly makes it feel, completely different from a 10 inch, and its so handy and convenient. My favorite part is the development. I set my tablet aside for a few weeks, and when I came back to it development had increased instead of slowed, so I get to flash and help work on toms of stuff.
If you have any more questions send them on but I highly recommend trying it.

For portability nothing beats it and you will appreciate the pure Android experience for sure. I also thought I'd miss the extra few inches but in fact I prefer it because it makes typing and playing games much easier as your not stretching to use the controls all the time nor are you fed up of how heavy it gets in your hands although I appreciate that depends on what 10" you have.
Enjoy it!
I'd say go for it. The Nexus 7 is easily my most used gadget I own.

Galaxy tab2 10.1 is only £230'ish and the note 10.1 only £320'ish
Anywho, N7 is the best bang for buck on the market. Yes it has its flaws (well some do) but it's still a tidy, fast machine.

As a guy who has owned probably half a dozen different android tablets, this guy has said most of what I would have about the n7. At home I use it more than both my laptop and Nexus phone. Out and about I'll always take it with me in preference to my laptop as it's small enough to be very portable yet still large enough to be much more comfortable to use than my phone.

These 'should I buy' threads always make me laugh.
Why not go ask in an ipad mini forum if you should buy a 7 over a mini.
I'm sure they'll all say a 7 :what:

Asking this question in a forum full of people who already own the device seems a bad idea as far as getting unbiased opinions goes.

OK how about this just compare all the other tablets to the n7. Then look at what you get for your money. Hands down the n7 is underpriced for what's inside. The only thing that it lacks is a SD slot.
Seriously why did we get the n7. Sure its a nexus but we got it because of the price its cheap and gives you the most bang for your buck.
