Hi guys, I have been into a lot of gaming with my Note and my problem is that even with the phone plugged in the AC charger it runs out of juice and turns off while I'm playing.I am currently using CleaNote v5 ROM with the default kernel (Notecore 12.3) as I am having problems with the v14 & v14.1 (phone gets stuck when opening certain apps and needs to be rebooted).
Is there anything I can do (buy a better charger/battery, flash a better ROM or kernel) so that the Note can draw sufficient power from the charger and not drain while playing games? I just don't want it to die while I'm in the middle of playing even when it's plugged in and become unusable for several minutes.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Cheers :good:
Are you using the original Samsung charger?

I'm using a genuine iPhone wall charger in the lounge with a 2 meter USB cable. Will the length of the cable affect the charging? I think the iPhone charger have the same specs as the Samsung charger.
Unfortunately I don't know if the length of the usb cable has anything to do with the slow charge.
Have you tried with any other charger to see any difference? Or at least with another cable?

Are you on OC version of Notecore ? If so downgrade to STD version or flash Speedmod. Its better on battery comparing to Notecore. Notecore gives you performance but don't think its battery friendly.
You can also try Battery Calibration from playstore to improve the stats. Just make a full charge of your battery and open Battery Calibration. Hit Start and follow the instructions there.
Drain after Paranoid Android
Hey that`s my first post and I hope that's the right way to ask for help...
I was running Paranoid Android 0.5 based on CM9. Then I flashed PA bsed on CM10. There I got an awful battery drain. So I flashed back to PA 0.5. But know the problem was there too. Even flashing to Samsung stock Gingerbread/ICS with ODIN didn't solved the problem. In Airplane mode the phone still hold for days but with airplane mode off and only mobile phone it drains fast. Also to mentioned I forgot to fullwipe flashing the ROMs forth and back. Would a fullwipe solve the problem?

The length of the cord does affect charging.
I use a 5m usb cord which takes quite a while to charge compared to the normal cable (but am able to move around freely).

I am having strange charging issues for the last few days. I have changed ROM (complete wipe) several times to solve the issue and to check if it's software issue. But, it seems to me the issue is caused by neither ROM nor stock charger.
The problems which I'm having are;
1. It charges really slow even with the stock wall charger. It takes almost 8 hours to charge 99% and it never says battery full.
2. Even if I charge my GTab while the tab is turned off completely, it never says BATTERY FULL". I have tried charging it for 12 hours.
3. After connecting to charger my GTab beeps after a few seconds (5 - 10 seconds).
4. When it finishes charging (say, 99%) and if I disconnect the charger, the battery shows cross sign (not charging battery logo). After a reboot the cross sign goes away. It happens whenever I disconnect the charger.
4. I have tried stock ROM (Gingerbread) and Overcome ICARUS. Both are giving me the same strange issues.
Can anyone recommend me any solution which I can try with my ROM?
I have one question. Is your picture in attachment showing stock rom? Why is the baseband version showing DXJPD while Build number showing DXJPE? Is it both should shown the same DXJPE??

Yes, the ROM installed is stock ROM. Is it both should shown the same DXJPE?? Not really, I changed the modem to JPD. I tried JPZ and JK3 too.

try to flash overcome stock safe it will wipe everything for you , and after that check whether you issue solved or no
btw , abour (99%) after you unplug your tab from the charger , this thing is happening to us all , after the battery says full charge you unplug it shows (99%) wiping the battery status is not a ( solution ) and there is nothing to solve this issue
try to flash stock safe from samsung
could you tell me are you using the ORIGINAL charger or no ?

Bro, thanks for your reply. I tried flashing Overcome ICARUS with stock safe v4. The issue was same.
Regarding 99% battery charge; I know about full charge and when we unplug it shows 99%. But, I said it never crosses 99% and it never says "Full Charge".
I am using stock ROM from Samsung right now.
And, yes ... my charger is original ...

The beeping from the tab while on the charger means your charger is dying. I had the same issue, replaced the charger, and no more problems. It's not a rom issue.
99% is the best you can get.

I will lend a friend's charger today and will test with that charger to check what happens. If I get the same result then I will try discharging completely and charging it for 8 hours for sure .
discharge it 1st and check by your friend charger , this is the right way to go with
Have tried two different roms, (Paranoid ics and JB)...both with full wipe.
Have media scanner disabled.
Its the charger I think, same thing happens with mine with the stock charger.
But when I use my wifes galaxy s 2 charger it charges up no problem and twice as fast.
Charge It to full continously and then Wipe battery stats under the advanced menu of Recovery. Now reboot system and use your phone until your phone gets drained completely. Now charge it again to full continuously. It will be solved. If its a hardware fault you have to check with your charger. Replace it and see if it will solved
Hope it helps.
Thanks
Thanks
I have the same problem, but on stock ICS. What does the suggested method really do?
it recallibrates the battery... or it could just be a charger fault not able to supply enof current
might want to read this about battery calibrationHERE
If your phone is doing this then it is using more charge than receiving. Make sure you use a proper charger (not cheap one or usb) and problem should stop.

Hey I am using CM10.1 with it's stock kernel. I've been facing this problem suddenly too. The battery drains while charging. I tried using different cables and chargers, Hell! I bought a new battery from the Samsung store and tried it too. I tried factory resetting, wiping cache and all too, still nothing. Could you help me out in this? Thanks in advance.
As of a few days ago i can no longer use the device while on the charger without losing charge....fast! (ive used the device while charging for the past 9mo).
Same on any kernel, any rom....any of the 3 Samsung batteries I have.
Any ideas?
Is the phone warming up or getting uncomfortably hot? The only thing i could think of is the battery has reched the end of its useful life..
===EDIT===
I was not able to read the last part that you said you tried 3 diff batteries.. LOL my bad..
Mostly it happens when you use incompatible charges (Not the original ones) which doesn't charge battery to its full voltage.
Replace it and check if its solved. If not you can calibrate battery or replace the battery.
Check battery status under settings and see if you have a file running "gpsd". A few times this bug would hit my phone using 63% and drain my battery while charging.
I would have it charge all night to disconnect in the morning and get a warning my battery us low.
To fix I would place my phone in airplane mode, turn off and turn back on, remove airplane mode and it would be back to normal.
Check to see if you have the bug.

Try to install betterbatterystats and check for any wakelocks on your phone. Wakelocks are dreaded battery juice killers. And I agree, turn off your phone at night and in the morning, check back on the BBS what process is working at the background (of your phone).

This problem is occurred to me also. all my devices are original.
this problem was found only when I used stock rom ics 4.0.4, but not found with custom rom as paranoid, cm9, cm10 etc.
try to flash custom rom, you will solve the problem.
Mine has allways done this, whether stock or custom rom. With orginall charger too. I put it down in my case due to being on skype. It also gets vvhot. This is with the original bat.also a samsung spare.

OK I had this problem before, and I solved it by changing charger and clean rom install, I think it is a mix of hardware and software issue, hardware as it is linked with no. Of pin in the charger, I think when the phone discharge while charging the phone see the cable as USB otg so it give it power, any way, change the charger and install any from with trying different kernels

Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my phone where it's just not coming on or where i get it to come on it sticks at either the charging battery symbol or N7000 splash screen.
ROM: Vanilla Rootbox 4.1
Kernel: NX kernel 1.3.9
(i think - i'd have to double check the various threads to ensure exact version numbers)
I noticed the battery was v low this morning <5% and charged it briefly while eating breakfast and headed out to work with a view to charge it fully there.
I saw my phone was dead at 10ish so put it on charge for a while here. The only thing it has shown is the battery, but the circle dowsnt spin and the battery charge animation doesnt run. I've tried taking the battery out a few times and attempted start up where it gets as far as the splash screen and freezes also.
I've not as yet been able to enter recovery mode and attempts at entering the download mode give small red lettering saying low battery - cant download. Obviously not charging properly.
I'm at work at the moment, so i've not really been able to look too much at the rest of the forum (but the ones i have seen have been able to access download mode and suggest using PC ODIN - which if i can get it charging is an option for tonight!), and don't currently have access to another USB cable, but neither plugging it in to the computers USB port or the plug works.
Am just about to nip out for lunch but will get another USB cable to see if that helps.
Does any one have any suggestions?
Try another battery which is sufficiently charged and then flash with ODIN. Flashing at critical battery levels is not at all advisable. So first insert a charged battery and then flash the stock.

I did think of that when i went home, tried a s4 charger (partners, which i used this morning and it was charging fine) - no joy - just sticks at battery still. Grabbed my spare battery (unknown amount of charge on it) while i was there but it still sticks at galaxy note splash screen. I'll leave it plugged in for now and will see if ODIN picks it up and hopefully enough charge etc.
Best recommendation for flash is stock GB isn't it?
Yes GB gives an excellent performance compared to the newer versions. Though if you are going to root it again, it's lot convenient to root on the JB.
Hit thanks if i helped

Stock JB it is
Now lets see if i *CAN* do it tonight...
EDIT: I get home, have food, download the stock rom (takes an age), see partner while waiting, come back home, plug the phone in to computer and i get the battery charging animation! I have no idea how many times its been plugged in to chargers and computers. Have swapped it to the s4 charger as that'll give it best charge for a while.
I don't know why it's gone from being completely unresponsive and now 10 hours later its (apprearing to) charge. Turning it on it booted - although it said charging 0% and turned itself off...
Hi, I have some serious issue regarding my galaxy note.
I have my phone standby this afternoon and out of nowhere, it died on it's own. I tried to bring it back on but it always die after boot. I plugged in my charger and it can work like normal. When I plugged my charger out, it turn off on it's own after several minutes. I tried to boot into CWM and it not died on its own. I tried to reflash the ROM, full wipe, restore, but no use. It always dies after galaxy note wording screen. I'm desperate for any other explanation possible, since I know it's not dying in CWM mode, so it shouldn't be a battery problem?
I use avatar ROM 3.13 nightly by the way. I have tried reflashing and full wipe.
Thank you for the help.

Does the screen flicker when it dies?
Did you overclock/underclock/undervolt it?
Does it get hot?
The battery does sound like the prime suspect.

Yes sometimes it flicker when it dies. But I haven't overclock / undervolt it. No it does not get hot. I'm considering to buy a new battery but if it's not the main cause it'll be a waste of money. Thanks for the attention
Even i think its because of the battery.. but be on stock rom for a few days and monitor the behavior or phone and decide.
It definitely sounds like its the battery.
Or maybe the charging circuit (You will need an external charger)
The next step would be trying another battery.
Been there, battery was it for me with the flickering before turning off itself.

Did you get the same case? Apparently it's battery. I'll need to replace it and see.
Battery battery battery many threads out there with the same topic. New battery will fix your problem. Pull out battery and see if it is swollen
