Hi,
I have a Tab with JM6 installed although I had this problem even with JJ1 (Asian firmware). My problem is when I use my Apple keyboard I have to type very quickly and if I press the keys longer than usual its starts repeating like thissssssss. Has anyone experienced this issue? if yes, any workarounds or fixes?
thanks

OK, got Apple Wireless Keyboard, worked out of the box contarary to Apple guy who advised that it doesn't work with anything else than an Apple! (and so even the store's guy didn't advised me not to buy it and bought from another store)
Only two issues,
(1) @ gives "
(3) # gives UK pound symbol
It is a tab problem, I know and tried all settings on tab fromvarious English flavours to whatever I cound think of, but it doesn't go off!
i am totally new to this tablet. I was little surprised that i cannot tether my galaxy tab with my Nokia phone, but luckily i found this site. Can someone please answer the following questions..
i) Is there a step by step video or document to root samsung galaxy tab 10.1?
ii) Incase i want to go back to the previous state just like the way when i bought my tablet how do i do?
iii) Dont know if this matters or not but i will be tethering my tablet along with Nokia N 97 phone( this is fully unlocked, i am able to tether with my lpatop), are the steps to root same?
Please advice as this is very cricitical for me, if i am not able to root then i might have to just return the tablet. Thanks in advance
Not quite...
For best results, I would put this question up in the forum dedicated to the Tab 10.1, not this one which is about the 7" original variant.
Beyond that, rooting a 10.1 should be very similar to most other Honeycomb devices, so check around for any how-to's on that.
With regards to what you're tethering with, that will not affect how you root the system. Rooting a tablet is simply gaining access to parts of the device that weren't available before, just like jailbreaking an iPhone. You will then still need to set up tethering as a separate process (and remember, the Tab isn't a computer, so it won't necessarily as easy...)
To revert to the previous state, you can either take a backup using recovery before you start (possibly a little complex) or performing a factory reset will "un-root" the device.
Any more experienced devs can feel free to correct me...

Ok, you're in the wrong forum.
Having said that, you don't necessarily have to root if your Nokia phone has bluetooth and supports bluetooth tethering (most of them do). When i had my 10.1 Tab i had it tethered to my Windows Mobile phone easily without needing or having to root.
Also, if your Nokia has wifi and supports wifi tethering (either adhoc or infrastructure), then you're golden, no need to root.
I see you have an N97. Just pair both devices via bluetooth, tap on the N97 in bluetooth settings (on the Tab) and choose to use for internet access.
Hello,
I have been looking around the forums and struggling with the galaxy gear i picked up today.
I have a verizon note 2, that is rooted and using a jellybean ROM. It appears that this ROM does not support NFC, and that looks to be the only way to install gear manager.
I have downloaded numerous 1.5 and 1.2 and 1.4 gear manager APKs from these forums, and have been able to set up gear manager on the phone but it appears to not be working so well. I cannot seem to get any notifications pushed to the gear, and cannot get the weather to show on the gear.
I was going to return the gear and just be done with it, but I am now wondering if anyone has any insight into whether or not I could get a simpler stock based ROM that enables NFC and has no conflict with the gear and my note 2?
I am using the stock messenger app, and no text messages come to the gear
Update
I contacted samsung to ask if there was any way to get the most recent gear manager without NFC and they said there was not. I am wondering if anyone can post a working APK, and if anyone can link me to a verizon note 2 rom that they are using and having no issues with the gear.
The phone calls go through without issue, but no text message or any other notification seems to be pushed through.

Your rom has no NFC ? This is... weird ?
Regardless, why not simply install a stock samsung rom ? You can install the gear manager straight from the samsung apps store and your done ?

I am not sure how to find a stock rom that will work without causing problems. I just assumed the ROM did not support NFC as it was not working, the options are there in my settings.
Does NFC require the stock battery and back cover? I have an extended battery, but was able to find my stock battery without the cover and it would not connect.
I am currently downloading jeallybeans_b22 to flash and see if there are any issues - would you mind linking me to a rom that you think would be issue free?
Thanks for the help

I don't no dude exactly, Varys from phone to phone.. I remember reading in the past some aftermarket battery's prevent NFC from working.. which is more than likely your problem.
Also your not going to receive notifications unless you use a rom based on Samsung, otherwise you will be forced to use third party applications in order to receive notifications.

Ok ill try and find a rom that will work better.
Can you post your gear manager apk?
Im not sure if the original back is required for nfc use but even with the stock battery the cradle did not prompt me anything.
Pretty bummed this isnt working but I do know its my fault for having a rooted note.

What, No its not because of root..
Dont over complicate things, its simply because your using a aftermarket battery.
Also you dont need nfc, you can manually connect the gear via bluetooth via the galaxy gear manager app.... ALTHOUGH I highly highly highly recommend you get a Samsung based rom !
No offence intended although you dont really seem like your very confident with android & know what your talking about, I recommend using a Samsung rom first until you understand how the gear actually works..

No offense taken at all, I have rooted every android device I have had but almost always run intro problems. I would definitely say I am not confident in this whole process. The problem I am facing now is that all of the roms in the verizon section for the note 2 are not really clear on what is close to stock and what is not
While my current rom is touchwiz based I am still trying to find one compatible with the gear.
When I said it was my fault for being rooted I just meant my fault for not understanding how to find a stock rom to revert to.
2 key ingredients to getting gear working are android 4.3 and touchwiz
nfc is only used to make connection easier, you can alwys just select to connect manually. I'm pretty sure nfc antenna is part of battery

Without downloading the gear manager apk from someone who posted it on XDA I could not get the phone to prompt anything and the connection failed.
After downloading the apk for gear manager I was able to get the limited connectivity set up. I am guessing this is because the ROM is not very compatible and I will try to find one that works better.
Thanks for the help guys, sorry for wasting time. I cannot find the OEM battery cover for the phone, just the OEM battery and neither work when trying to bump the cradle to it. What a silly way for samsung to deliver the download... I don't understand why there is no option for a download from them.

No, that is not how it works. You need the gear manager to connect and you just download this from the Samsung store (or I've posted all the apks). Anyway, nfc is just used to automatically pair devices and that is all, nothing else - it's simply less user interaction this way
EDIT: nfc looks to be part of the back cover (http://allaboutsamsung.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Note2_wireless_charging_2.jpg)

You can download gear manager directly from the app called "samsung apps", its considered bloat to some developers.. so it may be stripped out of the rom your using.

OK it's now fixed. I did it myself. (downloaded Samsung Tag Writer which wrote the missing data back onto the NFC part of the charging cradle.)
Hi there, I recently purchased an t710 which I upgraded to 5.1.1. I'm wondering if there is any reason to wait rooting this device and tripping knox. I purchased an extended warranty for accidental etc from squaretrade so I'm not too worried.
What do you think? Also this is the first touch device I ever owned and I've never owned any smart devices other than a blackberry curve 8330. :victory: I am however quite savvy with computers in general. I've strayed from these devices due to high cost and high toss rate.
Couldn't hurt to throw in some app recommendations too! I sure would like to customize a bit more than samsung is allowing me to.
In addition to my original question, what's the best root and image available for my galaxy tab s2 t710 currently? I wasn't quite sure as there are a few. Does flashing one of the images wipe everything?
Also, as I understand it, many knox features have to be paid for with a regular subscription or something and the applications are not fantastic currently. Am I wrong?
Feel free to add anything you think I should know, also app recommendations would be great. Thanks!
Well, I took the plunge anyway, but I didn't do a backup with TWRP, everything is working but I forgot. Besides knox status, I'm assuming there's a way to undo this correct? like factory reset? Or did I screw it up (If I need to that is.)

Knox status doesn't totally matter its more for secure environments like corporate or government to know that a device has been compromised.
Samsung and carriers often still warranty devices that have the Knox flag tripped.
To answer your question though, there is no way to undo a Knox flag.
Hey, I said besides knox status lol. I meant since I didn't backup in twrp before flashing root is there still a way to restore default firmware if necessary? Also how do I disable the securitylogger? People have mentioned it on the forums but I can't seem to find how to do that, thanks.
The only adverse effect I have noted so far was having to re-enter my wifi password.
Can anyone recommend a decent busybox? I installed this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en but is it the best one truly? The only other root program I have installed is AdAway. Actually, any decent app recommendations would be great, thanks!

For what reason do you need to install busybox? Unless you have a real need for it why install it and cause more issues?
I can't think of a real single time I've ever needed busy box.
Xposed, Root explorer and Titanium backup are the 3 apps I use on every device I have.
auto rotate suddenly stopped working after I rebooted the tablet, I tried doing a factory reset but that hasn't fixed it, it won't go into landscape mode. Any ideas to fix this?
I just rebooted it through TWRP instead of inside the system and that fixed it, why the heck wouldn't a factory reset? anyone ever hear of this issue before?
A slap on the back has been known to fix it.
Hello everyone,
I have always been an iPhone user since the first iPhone was released back in 2007; however, I have decided I would like to switch to Android as jailbreaks become less frequent on iOS.
I want to get the Samsung S10 Plus Exynos but I had a couple of questions.
If I purchase this device, will by be able to have root access without an exploit needed?
From what I understand, enabling root will trip Knox. I also understand that certain apps made by Samsung won't work like Samsung Heath and Samsung pay. But will other apps work fine like Pokemon go or various banking apps?
Is there a better flagship phone with root that I might want to look into getting instead?
This is all very new to me as I have always been with iOS and I would truly appreciate any advice you all can give. I have been doing extraneous amounts of research, and I will continue to do so, but these are just a couple of questions that I havent been able to find an answer to as of yet.

1.No you wont use any exploit.
2.Yes samsung pay and samsung pass wont work.Pokemon and banking apps work as long as you dont heavily debloat.Samsung health and secure folder work.
3.No there isnt
First update phone to latest version (ASII) with odin.(Get the firmware via Frija and flash via odin).Install samsung drivers and extract what you downloaded from Frija
In odin there are 4 slots. In Ap put Ap file.Bl in Bl.CP in CP and Csc in Csc.(PUT CSC NOT HOME_CSC).then boot phone in download mode(turn it off and hold bixby and volume down then plug in the usb cable Connected To The PC).In odin click start and wait until it boots..Go to youtube and search for max lee how to root s10.Then go to Xda in S10e/S10/S10+/S10 5G cross development and install TWRP by Geiti94 with his instructions.(Optional but recommended) install any custom rom available (CarHDMod,BeyondROM,LineageOS,LightROM and HadesRom).I personally recommend you to install hades rom with corsicanu's instructions. Then you have a rooted and custom rommed phone!
