[Q] Can't backup using CWM

So I've been trying to backup my stock XL rom using the Clockwork Mod (which I downloaded from the dev forums) flashed it and everything worked fine.
It's giving me an error saying that I might not have enough space on my SD card (we all know you can't put an SD card on your XL) nevertheless I have 3.9GB free on my internal memory. Any ideas?

No there isn't a separate sdcard on the XL but there is a 8.9GB part of the 16GB internal memory that is used as the SD card and it is quite possible that it could be full if you've put a lot of music on it for example. Try going to settings/storage and have a look at how much space you have left on sdcard part of the storage...

I don't have space on my Phone Storage but I do on my Internal Storage. Isn't there a way to back it up on the internal one?

I dont think there is, well at least not that I'm aware of anyway, you might have to free some space on the sdcard part of the phone storage so you can back up. You could need up to 1GB to do a proper nandroid of a stock rom, because my backup for BinDroid is 800mb and that has stuff removed from stock...

Okay I guess I just backed it up, but once my phone turned back on it said that my phone recovered from a crash and if I want to tell HTC blabla, is that normal?

Yeah mine did it on stock rom too, but once I'd installed custom rom it didn't happen again

my htc sensation xl having problem with external memory. pls help

Please help me. it's been almost two weeks i'm having this problems. my phone is HTC Sensation XL CM10.1
the problem starts here, when i switch on my phone, it stuck on CyanogenMod, i restart my phone so many time but that wont help me, so what i did was i format my phone from bootloader.
so new problem appear again
I'm having problem with my EXTERNAL MEMORY. this is not SD CARD since HTC Sensation Xl DOES NOT have memory card slot. it's HTC Sensation XL 16GB.
my problem is everytime i enter camera and gallery, it says "No external storage available" then my whatsapp also cannot download images and videos. then when i go to storage, it shows only internal memory available, it does not shows the External one, it seems like the external memory is not inserted.
i already restart my phone so many times but still this wont help to solve the problem. then i go to recovery, then i tried to mount sdcard, but it said "cant mount Sdcard" then i tried to format sdcard but failed since the sdcard cannot be mounted.
then i try to connect my phone through USB to my computer, but i cant even read the sdcard, theres no notification that my phone is connected through USB. but its connected already. lol. so confused.
if i cant connect through USB, then how can i solve this problem? how can i flash a new rom? how to downgrade my phone since i hane read from most of the forums that the only way to solve is downgrade the phone to stock. but i cant even connect it through USB to put the rom.
im just telling this if this can help you.

What rom are you on ? if you are on a ICS rom then flash my sdcard fix for ics roms
or open up system/etc/vold.fstab and if you are on old hboot = 1.25 or 6.25 then check and check that the line says 33 not 34
if on new hboot = 1.28 or 6.28 then check that the line says 34 not 33

already did that, bbut nothing's happened. external memory still missing. im on a cm10 rom. i cant even use the sdcard fix, bcause my phone cant even connect through usb. idk if there's onother way by using usb debugging

If vold.fstab is correct, then there is no reason to use sdcard fix, all that does is correcting that value.

Don't worry, i think best way is to use from official Rom at the first. it will make everything solve, and your XL reset to factory options. Then if you want to use CM10, choose which one Ok for you phone.

Hi!, I've the same error... I check the vold.fstab file and I've 34 and not 33 (my HBOOT is 1.25.0004). How to fix the sdcard error??

Hi at all,
I had the same error, but today my friend repair it.
At first, i will tell you what I had done:
1. I was on http://www.htcdev.com and unlocked my Bootloader
I've get this:

2. Then I had installed the Recovery
I had used this one
I think I don't have to tell here how I installed the Recovery with fastboot
3. Then I had installed SuperSU
--> After this I had startet my HTC Sensation XL and it was rooted
But after a time it was boring and I had downloadet the Rootbox 4.2.2 ROM and installed it direktly from the running phone with the ROM-Manager.apk
After that my HTC rebooted and for 3h I had only the RootBox screen, but after a time I opened the phone and reset it (Battery out)
Then it start fast in the Android 4.2.2 but then....
1. The phone doesn't show the SD Card under Settings
2. File Manager can't show you files on sd card
3. No USB connection to the PC
4. Recovery can't mount / format SD-Card
-> Softbrick
BECAUSE I FORGET THE "S-OFF"
!!How I get my SD Card mounted!!
(You have to install the HTC and ADB Driver on your System)
1.I had downloadet the XL Multi Tool and flashed HBOOT to S-OFF
-> Still no SD-Card
2. Then I had:
MOUNTS/FORMAT SYSTEM
MOUNTS/FORMAT CACHE
MOUNTS/FORMAT DATA
ADVANCED/WIPE DALVIK
-> No system anymore, just a withe HTC Screen
3. Then boot into Recovery
-> Connect your HTC SXL to your PC
Go to "mount USB Storage " and sty in this menu, now the PC have to format the SD-Card -> But please look that it only show you the 8 GB free space (SD-Card). I know that Windows can show you only this one but with linux it is able to format everything.
So i had formated the SD-Card
-> Download CM
-> Download Gapps
Copy on the SD-Card
Reboot to Recovery
-> Install ZIP from SD-Card
And now it woks (With my HTC SXL) I doesn't get the error "can't mount SD Card"
-> This was mot everything that I had done and try
(I had installed CM with adb and try to format it with the phone )

[Q] SD Card not installed

Hi guys,
I recently bought a HTC One, I rooted it cause I wanted to change the htc icon to being operational so then flashed the kernel teaMSeven-sense-4.2.2-kernel-v2.1.4.zip. All appeared to be fine but now I am being told that I have no SD card installed so I can't access my photos, use my camera or access the Dropbox app properly. I presume there are some other issues but can't be sure yet. When I connect my computer to my laptop I can access the internal storage without a problem. When I go to recovery mode and go to Advanced - File Manager - sdcard I can see all the folders. Also when I go to mount and try it first gave an error that usb-otg couldn't mount and now it hangs at updating partition details.
Please help!

your sd card is there. there are some fixes in the development section. Take a look there

USB OTG is not your internal storage.

I had the same issue and that video is far too complicated for what you actually need to do.
This is what I did when I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 on my HTC One.
Issue: You will have a new place for your data now. The default under 4.2.2 is now /data/media/0. Under 4.1.2 it was /data/media. Notice the extra /0 - that's for a multi-user environment.
Resolution: Needs root access, of course.
1. Install ES File Explorer
2. Enable ES File Explorer to have root under it's settings.
3. Navigate to /data/media
4. Ta-da! All your old files are there! NOW...
5. Select and move your files that you want to keep from /media/data to /media/data/0
This worked for me 100%. My free storage was only 2.58Gb with a fresh 4.2.2 install. Because I moved all my wanted files across and deleted all the other legacy items, it's now about 13Gb free.

Used the youtube vid so thanks for that osmosizz, worked well and thought me a bit in the process like getting your java paths right!!

i have flashed om my mam's phone cm 10.1 cuz she was not satisfied with the htc sense, she claimed that the sense was working to slow.
my problem is that when ever i open the camera or tring to download a file from the internet the phone shows this message :
" no external storage available "

so i went back to google my good old friend and found this thread about a similar problem on that thread that solution was offered:

No it shouldn't as it could format the SD card by it self. Unplug from computer and format in recovery and also. There's a sneak peak for a upcomming ROM for sxl

i booted into recovery formatted sdcard mounted it ( though the recovery ) applied the 3rd way and now i am unable to make phone calls any help ?

i found the solution. if you did a backup it will work. in cwmr you navigate: backup and restore and confirm,than navigate to advanced restore and confirm. you will get a backup file,confirm on that file,now navigate to restore sd-ext and confirm and wait.after done,reboot. now works with no problems. i had same problem,i downloaded 5 roms for htc from this site(developers) and all have same annoying thing with external card. if i restore my whole system always work.so problem are those roms,something is not made it properly sigh.

Phone storage problem

Got used sprint Htc One M8 32 GB, settings show that phone storage is half full but only 2.7 GB is occupied by apps and everything else is occupied by "other". I have no folders or files in phone storage when I open file manager or connect phone to PC and the worst thing is that I am not able to download, or copy anything there. Would be thankful if you can throw some advices

It showed some old trash in it but still can not copy and download...

is it running custom software ? did you factory reset the phone when you bought it ?
