Does it work for both outgoing and incoming calls? I want to give this a try but seeing the bricking of several devices related to latest CWM, I think I'll have to wait for a while until some of the issues are resolved.
Anyway, thanks for the heads up! This is definitely another feature worth waiting for (aside from the official update to ICS for P7300 users).

I don't suppose this modem will work on stock Honeycomb 3.2 or the AOSP Jelly Bean? Or will it?

Seems nice, but i dont have the deodexed ics to try it
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app

Or what if I flash the official P7310 ICS and then add this modem into it?... hmmm
Well, the modem seems to work with Honeycomb but since there is no Dialer in there, it does not respond to incoming calls nor is it able to dial using GO Contacts EX.

I hope stock ics for 7300 to ebable voice calls... Let's wait and see...

If Samsung didn't enable GSM voice for the 10.1 (P7500) stock ICS, I don't think they'll have a change of heart and enable it for 8.9 (P7300). But still, it will be a dream come true if they did.
One of the reasons I bought the 8.9 because of the early reviews from GSM Arena saying it had voice. But that would be like crying over spilled milk wouldn't it?
I just hope they resolve the bricking issues from the other threads so we can try instructions here without fear of losing our tabs in the process.

What enrages me the most is that stock Honeycomb 3.2 has a Phone.apk and a TelephonyProvider.apk present in system/app but they will neither install, not show up in the App drawer.
If I only knew what configuration files block these apk's from registering... since this modem here works fine under Honeycomb...
I need the knowledge to unfu*ck what Sam-Sung did.

gsm voice call working on ics
Finally obtained to work over the ics in the development forum, ported from p7500.
The trick is to modificate framework-res.apk and enable this function.
The dialer is nice.
Some functions, as manage redirection of calls, cannot be used. But in general the read looks sunny...

There is a risk bricking your device, under my point of view if you have used some moment last 6.x version of CWM. But do a read around other threads and only go ahead if you are pretty sure.
It is quite easy, except the fact i had to install again HC but i think the problem is with the CW version. I think no tisk with 5.5.4.
- install the modem as described in the first post. I have used it over 3.1, 3.2 from hcomb and from ICS (cyanogenmod v 9 and the adapted version made in development form from official 7500).
- install a rom with support for phone. I have checked .
Between both do your reboot as usual.
Now is the moment to change the framewor-res.apk to support phone applications.
I have attachedthe file update.zip refered to forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835031
Comments
1 to check if the new modem works, just phone to the tablet. If the line is not busy it should be working.
2 i cannot manage the voice over bluetooth headset

Can you be more specific about editing framework-res?
The thread that you linked to does not have an update.zip anywhere.

Disregard last post
I managed to get GSM voice calls working on stock Honeycomb 3.2.
After many efforts with different versions of apk decompile tools I managed to get the framework-res.apk with voice calls to work.
In effect the App Drawer now shows a Phone icon and the Contacts app now shows an option to dial a number.
I am attaching my working framework-res.apk which should work for anyone with a P7300 on a stock Honeycomb 3.2 ROM. I also have the I9003 modem installed but this might work with the stock baseband on your devices. Try and see.
If it doesn't, then flash the I9003 modem as per OP.
Push the framework-res.apk via ADB. Or use RootExplorer or equivalent to replace framework-res.apk in /system/framework and reboot.
Consider using ex Dialer from Play Store to be able to punch in numbers by hand.
Bluetooth headset is not working. Most likely something missing form build.prop. Will investigate.

Has someone else tried?
Correct me if I am wrong:
from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875024
get the files and follow the instructions:
For [ROMs based Samsung Stock ICS 4.0.4 Deodex OR Odex]
1- Reboot to Recovery Mode.
2- Make a Full Backup. [Recommend]
3- Install File CWM_I9103XXLQ3_Modem.zip
4- Install File Voice Call Enable [Stock] ICS 4.0.4 ROM Build 1.zip
5- Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache.
6- Reboot the tab and enjoy voice call.

Honeycomb oes not support video calling over gsm networks. In fact, even in Gingerbread on Samsung devices that ha video calls, the feature was sort of hacked into Android to work. Android source code releases do not contain anything related to nativee video calling, I believe. Hence there was never an AOSP custom ROM that had them.

Hi - I have so far avoided trying to get GSM voice calls working on my P7300 because I thought I would have to install a custom ROM, and I prefer to keep things as maintenance free / easy as possible. BUT... it sounds like you have installed the standard ICS rom for your p7300, and you've got the dialer working? Has anyone else managed this with the P7300XXLQ6 ICS Rom from Samsung Austria?
Thanks for the post mate!

You should be fine to use this mod with that setup, the incompatibility only rears its head when running full JI2/JI4/JI5 roms, since at the very least, framework-res.apk, android.policy.jar, and services.jar were updated/modified in those roms.

Likewise, I played with this earlier today and had no FC issues when receiving texts using any lockscreen.
Just to double check, try clearing your cache and dalvik-cache, and to triple-check, you are running a JFD based rom, right?
This won't work on any of the leaked JIX series rom's, including the new Bionix 1.5. It also likely won't work on any of Eugene's hybrid of franken-twiz series rom's.
Cheers
yep, running JFD. didn't see it happen, just know that I heard a text come in, and then when I went to check it a couple minutes later, it was already bootlooping.
I have notifications from the stock messaging app turned off as I use chomp. Do you think that could be the issue? (I see you have the stock messaging app in your screenshot)
Also, I went back looking for the old zip with the Glass/Androind/Fascinate lockscreens and saw you'd taken it down. Is that one still available anywhere?

With the last upgrade of skype allowing video calls for some Android devices, Pulser_g2 succeed to make it available for other devices too.
I tried and is working on Galaxy tab 1000. Just uninstall the old version of skype and download the apk file from the following thread.

Hi Manadus,
Thanks for your quick advice.
I am going to flash with Overcome Rom too. I would like to make a copy of existing ROM first just in case I need to return the tab for warranty repair. My ROM manager has CWM Recovery rev 2.5.1.8. I could not make ROM backup successfully with this CWM. I am trying to read all the threads to find out an easiest and safest way to make a ROM copy. Do you have any suggestions?
my stock ROM is P1000MUGJJ7.
Thanks.
Hi Uniserve,
I'm not expert but I think that you need to root your phone before making a full backup of your ROM. I faced the same problem while using ROM manager but after rooting the phone the problem was solved.

My tab has already rooted. So far from what I read, the newer tab could not make Rom backup by CWM. I may need a new kernel or use Roto-backup. I will do more research. May be I will start another thread to ask for help.
Thanks.

[ROM][UVLG3] (2012-09-02) Stock-Rooted-Deodexed-Zipaligned / Debloated

Thanks to Android Revolution for providing the nandroid backup of his T-Mobile Note, here's a complete stock, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned ROM. I'll look in to releasing a modified framework-res.apk later that adds SIP calling settings and modifies the auto-brightness levels. If no one else does it first, I'll probably look in to adding the extended power menu to make it easier to reboot in to recovery and maybe see if we can get the 15 toggles mod that works on many AT&T roms working too.
I didn't remove any apps, so if you know there are things you don't want, feel free to open the zip and delete things out of /system/app before flashing. Suggestions on what can/should be removed would be great too.
This does not include the modem so flash that separately if you want the latest T-Mobile modem. I'm working off of an AT&T Note so it's easier for me to keep the modems and ROMs separate. tomin.fhl already has that posted for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837907
Thank these folks for making this possible:
Android Revolution and all the folks releasing bits from the T-Mobile Note.
www.androidfilehost.com for providing free hosting
electron73 and flappjaxxx for releasing stock-ish AT&T ROMs that were very helpful to me to figure out how to put together the flashable zip
Download: http://beta.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390034591667978483
Mods that work:
I tried a couple of the 15 toggle mods for AT&T Note UCLF6 ROMs and they seem to work as is. If you like the toggles go ahead and try them and be sure to thank the creators if it works.
electron73's: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773408
bigfau's colored: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766933
Edit (09/02): If you're looking for a stripped down version, I've customized the ROM more or less to my liking and have uploaded it for others to use. These are the changes I remember off hand:
Removed:
TouchWiz "stuff" (launcher, widgets, supporting APKs)
Samsung keyboard/TTS (keyboard wasn't working anyway and I don't use it so didn't spend too much time figuring out why)
Most of the wallpapers, including all of the live wallpapers
Some Google Apps (new Play Music/Video, a few others) as they inevitably end up out of date anyway and need to be updated from Play Store. The ones that I left in the system partition have been updated to latest available on Play Store.
Other T-Mobile add-ins (if you actually miss anything that was removed you can grab it from the full stock ROM)
Added to system:
Apex launcher
Hacker's Keyboard
Google Now (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224)
Edited framework.jar to include the 4-way reboot option to restart in to recovery (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24303020&postcount=13)
Edited framework-res.apk and added in the native SIP calling settings (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962). Also tweaked the screen brightness when on Auto to be a bit dimmer (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541180).
Added as non-system APKs:
T-Mobile My Account (overlaps a lot with Access T-Mobile, I'd pick the one that works better for you and delete the other)
ES File Explorer
Titanium Backup
Solid Explorer
aLogcat
Chrome
I've been using this build for a couple of days and it has so far been problem free for me. If the camera closes on you after initially loading the ROM, a reboot seems to fix that without it cropping up again. Last thing on my to do list is to look at replacing the T-Mobile tether app (I don't tether too often so it hasn't been a priority). In the future I'm considering replacing the S-Note and S-Memo apps with some of the community/other developer note (Memo/Papyrus/etc) taking apps, mostly in preparation for a jump back to Cyanogenmod ROMs once they gain a bit more stability.

It works fine on the AT&T Note, that's what I used to test with. Just make sure to use a modem that is modified for i717 since using both the mdoem.bin and amss.bin straight from a T-Mobile Note causes it to run about 10 times slower than normal. I know tomin.fhl, jeet92 and others have different combos that work and I may do a little testing too next week when I get some time. Doesn't look like we can expect any breakthroughs in speed though unfortunately.

Yep, you sure can. I usually make a few changes when I download the zips for other ROMs, like modifying the framework-res.apk first to allow for native SIP calling, then saving it back in to the zip. Other interesting things to do is to add in the Google Now files that were modified to work with ICS so that you don't need to copy them in after a flash.

I'm not too sure about that, but my initial guess would be that it's not possible. Some quick Google'ing came up with UDP ports 500 and 4500 that are used, but that would be set on T-Mobile's servers so having your client try to connect on a different port would result in no connection. Have you asked your IT department if they could work with you to find out what rules could be added to the firewall to allow Wifi calling? I know some companies will install repeaters to help get reception for their employees if they're in a bad area, and this would be an effectively zero cost to them solution.

I'll take a look at this but might not get to it until next week. I did get those FCs sometimes also, but it was better when I factory reset even when flashing over the same stock image. For now using a different keyboard seems to work fine as a workaround.

This is the same thing as stock, just modified a little to allow theme-ing and flashable via CWM. Looks like it does not have the UK language listed. You can use this ROM on both the AT&T and T-Mobile Notes and it should work just fine. You're not really gaining much if you're already on T-Mobile stock ROM though unless you want to flash mods on top of it.

[MOD] Phone calls on CM10.1 / AOKP 4.2.2

Hey guys, this is my first post on the forum.
Many people got phone calls on stock ICS, then changed to 4.2.2 and lost it
But while seeking the forum, I GOT IT AT LAST!!
Although, it has a bug, which is when u receive a call and slide the call button, as soon as u press it it says "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped working", but it might work perfectly on other ROMS
I tested it on Infamous ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220912
Here it is :
Format System (No data wipe required if ur reflashing same rom)
Install ROM, Gapps, and the file attached
Fix permissions (just incase)
Dont reboot untill u do all of that, as in dont reboot in the middle of the procedure.
There u have it
Please tell me if it worked
EDIT : works perfect on infamous 1.7.2, just extract the zip file, paste all the files in their place, and keep the phone.apk untouched (keep the original phone.apk Cruz it works)
P.S : i really appreciate Khomsn for making the CM10.1 build with phone calls, but that build is REALLY laggy.
Thank you everyone.

I can make a call and stoping with push end when i'm tryng calling, on my tab sounded a ringer and working fine for receive call. everything is working fine to me.
Thanks for the effort, but this isnt working for me. I cant even get the phone apk to show anywhere. Im not even sure ifi t installs one. If there is another installation method that isnt mentioned here but that I need to do please refer me to that. Otherwise after flashign th one file above and fixing permissions I get no phone apk to even test this. Im on the infamous rom as well.

Umm... i just installed the phone.apk from Khomsn's thread as a normal apk and that seemed to fix my problem.
Otherwise. Just push the phone.apk in /system/app/ and fix permissions (i dont think fixing permissions is neccesary but i just do it incase)
Yea, Ive done that a few times and I cant get phone.apk to show in the apps list after install.

Consider installing gapps that contains a phone apk after which you flash the phone fix above. Your tab should make calls flawlessly but know that the speaker is set to off by default so you have to activate it when making a call.

Ok thanks for the reply I do need a link to the GAPPS with a phone apk though , unless of course the GAPPS for the tab 10.1 comes with it but why would it. If Im wrong please let me know.
EDIT: Ok so my bad, looks like I need a 3g tab and I have a wifi tab. Thanks for the help nevertheless.
Do search for gapp of 20121212, it contains a phone apk. Gapps for custom roms often contain the apk.

i think it's the META-INF that's the issue.
i'll try to put them in another zip and reply.
BTW: i've got a build of infamous aokp with phonecalls "without the need to do anything" but i think im gonna need permission to upload it.
But for the time-being, i think installing the phone.apk like a normal app will work "iv'e tried it out of curiosity and it actually installed )
but i still don't know why com.android.phone keeps FCing after opening mobile data in settings or when answering a call. Anybody got any tips.

Inverted InCall Dialer

I am posting here for people who don't check my rom thread. The inverted dialer is only the "InCall Dialer" because it seam "Theme store" themes don't theme the InCall Dialer.
NOTE: This mod will most likely only work with a rom that has "Signature verification disabled" Check with your rom developer for more info. It will of course work with my Rom and again I can't promise it will work with other, just ask in the ROM thread you are using.
The screen shot shows my "Theme store" "Main" dialer ("Space odyssey") and then my Inverted dialer next.
Just flash in recovery and enjoy
I would also recommend checking my ROM thread for the most current theme options and mods

It is possible? It seems like our main dialer will not work for sure, but I belive the InCall dialer is compatible.
If you want to try I would suggest navigating to system/app/InCallUI and see if it present, then copy it to your sdcard and flash the dialer of your choice. I've seen you from the S5 forums and it seems like you know what your doing so I won't go into detail about finding the app in your system. Good luck and report back the good or hopefully not the bad. If it does fail just push the backup you made of your stock apk and set permissions, then reboot.

So it didn't work lol. When I did it, and then called someone the InCallUI actually never even appeared and the phone would not let me go into it lol.

Sorry about that.
I did just notice in your Signature that you're running a 100% stock rom.
That's probably the issue. The apk I modded is deodexed amd the system would probably need to have "Signature verification disabled". As soon as you get to a custom rom let me k keeping and we can see about getting it working for you. Thanks for the feedback amd being brave and trying it.
Was it easy to restore? Did you make the backup of the apk amd then just put it back after?

Well it's the stock ROM odexed.... but I'm obviously rooted haha. But yes very easy to restore.. I just renamed the stock apk "InCallUI.apk.bak" so it was very easy to go back to the original one.
This theme is Dope! My phone is G925f and am still suffering with the stock call ui any chance to get it work with thank bro

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.
I do have users with the 925f variant running my rom and obviously the themed incall work with that.
If you are not running my OZOP rom I can only recommend making a backup like I posted to the above user, The themed apk is from a my "deodexed" rom with "signature verification disabled" Then flash and see if it works?
The worst case scenario when you make a call the incall portion won't popup and you will have to reboot the end the call and restore the backup apk.
For some reason on 5.1.1 didn't work ppl couldn't hear me on incoming and out going? ??
