ok, it seems that u now have emmc bug, while restoring ur backup so I think u were in stock kernel, but you are lucky that your phone is opening, so you think I have to repetition your phone, but before you do that you can try to flash stock gb with PC Odin, if it fails, so the repartition method is your only way.

In my run to restock my Tab after trying CM9 on MTD so that I could do a full wipe and reset to see if I could clear up the problem I had with the unit not going to sleep I ran into an issue.
I screwed up the the reflash with Overcome, which ended up with a probably partial formatting to EXT4 on the /system partition.
Currently I can get to download mode and boot into recovery and it will respond to ADB commands and Odin says it's flashing when I try to send it images. I've attempted to reflash Overcome from scratch and see if it would format the /system partition but it still just hangs on the boot screen.
In Recovery I can't mount /system or /cache.
Is there a way to format the partitions in this state so I flash the ROM and Kernel?
Have you tried restock to gb stock safe v5 with pit selected?

First thing I tried.
Well crap. So I tried it again for giggles even though I tried it yesterday thinking that was my best bet since it was responding in Download and Recovery. And bloody thing flashed and started working.
Well cheers for making me do the thing again.
There you have it.
As long as you can go to download mode, it is always good to try and retry.
glad it works.

Well, what happened?
I am stuck on the boot screen as well.
Did you performed Full Wipe on ICS Stock Rom ? If so then its unfortunate to say your note might be bricked.
I advise u stop flashing stuff when you clearly don't know what your doing.

It is not a good sign. Looks like a case of superbrick to me due to emmc bug. Probably will need repartition with custom pit or adb.

Hi guys,
I normally try and work this stuff out for myself (as you can tell by my join date and my post count) but this has me stumped..
I was attempting to change ICS rome and somewhere in the process something went wrong...
After many unsuccessful attempts of flashing, stock ICS & GB, Abyss.. I checked the partions for errors and found the actual size of p-10 was different than the reported size by 1kb.
So, tried the e2fsck fix- it reported that it had corrected some errors.. I tried flashing again and agin- no success.
I then deleted the partitions, recreated them and reformatted in CWM. ADB reports no errors on any partition. When I try to load an ICS rom, it installs then hangs when it gets to the screen where you select the language.
I can successfully install a GB rom, but after a couple of minutes I start getting errors- then the affected app closes.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Which ics rom were you on originally before you tried flashing to which ics rom? Did you perform any wipes while on ics? Does sound like you have a good understanding of emmc bug and partitioning so forgive me if this all seems mundane.

I was on N7000XXLRB, Kernel Version 3.0.15-N7000XXLRG, and Build number IMM76D.XXLRG. Tried to go to AlBa rom, flashed Abyss, wiped cache/data in the CWM recovery and flashed the rom in CWM recovery...
I can successfully flash a stock GB rom with PC Odin, but it hangs on the boot screen( so I can't install dmmc test).
I have tried everything I can think of, just waiting on a jig to come in the mail so I can reset my counter for warranty
If you find a solution please post it.
I think i have the same problem. I posted it in general ( can anybody move it over here? I think this was wrong. Sorry i panicked. )
It's called permantly rebooting after flashing cm9.

Guys I really need your help.
After "succesful" flashing the official German ICS 4.04 ROM with PC odin I can't start up my Note again. It hangs at the bootscreen.
I can still get into downloadmode, can flash all the ROMS with PC Odin succesfull but after booting it gets stuck at the bootscreen.
I can also still go to recovery, wipe data and cache but after rebooting it always stuck on the bootscreen.
If I go to recovery I see the errormessage:
E: failed to mount data <invalid argument>
E: copy_log_files_to_data : : can't mount /data
In recovery i can still root my phone and flash Abyss kernel. Also with the Abyss kernel i can flash al ROMS succesfully but they all stuck at the bootscreen when i reboot.
Does somebody know how to fix this problem?

You are not supposed to do wipes running stock ICS kernels. GB kernels such as abyss are the only safe ones (to avoid the Emmc hardbrick bug)....If I were u I would try to flash a stock firmware with odin.
If you get stuck and nand write or factorys.img then u are bricked....:crying:

It seems you became victim of brick bug.
And yiu have error on data partition rather than system rom.partition so u cud flash successfully non wipe ROM, but if you try flashing wipe ROM then it won't compete. So.if your device is under warranty then send it to service centre. Confirm you have flash countwr zero to.reclaim warranty.

hi,
i flashed t Rafaels latest kernel version (201210312042). i flashed the format ext4 file over it (My sd partition in fat32 and EXT3). i changed the file names as mentioned to ext4 as mentioned in the thread. but still cannnot restore my backup and the whenever i try to do so...i manage to soft brick my phone.
Another thing, when i go to cwm recovery to flash something .....it shows an error that says cant open cache and cant mount error in CWM recovery. i think few others are also facing such a problem........please let me know what should i do to correct this error?.... i just cant reflash my phone all the time as the restore thing is not working as it should.
Even my Headphones are not working :banghead:
P.S.- All respect to rafael for making a kernel for us....giving us frequent updates to make it run smoothly. :good:

Hi
My GT N7000 doesn't start anymore, keep on infinite looping. ODIN flashs well (no errors) but ROM doesn't start from logo.
I flashed with a (2.3.6) Custom Recovery on Odin and after I typed *2767*3855# for full wipe. It starts normally but when I flash with a (4.1.2) it kept on looping. I made full wipes and install or restore ROMs, but they don't start from the logo.
On the Recovery Mode after wiping data I have this message on red:
E: Failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
Maybe I must flash a .pit file? But where is it? And how I do this?
Thank You

No, I didn't try this yet. Sorry for asking, but I am kind a newbie on this and I don't know what is "GB". How can I do this? Thank you
well I am thinking that you should go read dr ketans guide (sticky section development) and the clean install comments, that should help you. gb =2.3.6 rom. reflash the one that worked.

Thanks a lot for your help! I already read dr. ketan's guide and trying to flash it again with an older gb 2.3.6 on odin. I think I did it right at first time, but I will flash it again. Where can I get a good 4.1.2 jb to flash over gb? Just asking...what does rootable directly and non rootable directly means? Thanks again!
I think root directly is rootable via conventional methods mentioned in thread.Indirectly is via flashing rooted kernel for rom via pcodin. Then triangle away
The best rom is usually the same csc rom. However i would recommend on gb root and backup efs on and off the phone first. Then you can flash any csc rom and restore efs should it get corrupted.
Csc is country sales code, found via *#272*yourimeihere#.

I already found a way to do that. I lost IMEI and now to repair efs I have to use a z3x box, and then flash a stock 2.3.6. After this procedure I can flash any ROM version.
I really appreciate your time here trying to help me!
np, if you don't mind forking the money, getting that box is cool. Its cheaper to have Samsung or cvxcvx do it. You will find him on this forum.
