Phone perfect service not sending SMS messages and no Data - LG Optimus Black

Has anyone seen this issue where the Optimus Black does not send SMS messages and Data does not work?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjHEzIT-YAM&feature=BFa&list=PLIGs_eS-CxRUYnXUXqvvY4hRi7eLAwQR0
Basically what happens is the APN information disappears. It works and then it does not work.
There are even videos of showing the APN information being blank and then coming back Skip to the end to see APN information disappearing

It is a really strange error and the phone has been sent in for service twice. In addition the SIM card has been replaced

try different roms...worth the try

Thanks for the tips. I have tried several ROMs, and sent the phone in for service where they changed the software as well.
The odd thing is that the APN info will be there and then disappear without even an reboot. When the APN goes away it will stop doing all things that require an APN. Also, it should be on one of the videos it shows the phone having perfect service and not even make a phone call. It says no network found when the phone shows connected to the network and 4 bars of service.
I have two of these phones and very technical. It is the oddest thing

AT&T Tab will no longer connect to AT&T data

I bought an AT&T Galaxy Tab. I confirmed when I received it, data worked, and then discontinued my service.
In the meantime I flashed to Overcome ROM, flashed to JPD to enable phone calls, brought it to Canada and used it there with a Canadian GSM provider, and now am trying to reconnect my AT&T service.
I activated my AT&T service about an hour ago, and everything seemed to be fine. I received the welcome to AT&T text message. However, it just won't connect to any data of any sort.
I've reflashed the modem to JPA, which I've seen people say works on AT&T, without any change.
I've installed the AT&T data usage widget, and it says "No Network Available or SIM could not be verified".
My APN settings by default were set with everything normal except for an empty password compared to what I found online. I tried setting a password and no effect.
Under Settings => About device => Status it shows Mobile network state as either Disconnected or Connecting.
Settings => Wireless and network => Mobile networks => Use packet data is unchecked, and whenever I try and change it, it will change to "Turning on..." and then after a few seconds it will change back to unchecked.
All of the Samsung related data connection toggles like on the pull-down windowshade or on the long press of power act like they're changing something instantly, but have no effect.
Anyone have any ideas on what's gone wrong here?
Someone stated earlier that their tab was kicked off of the network as well. I would try a series of restarts to see if the problem persists. If it does, try contacting at&t directly.

I've restarted it about a million times in the past hour. I'll give contacting AT&T a try, hopefully it won't come up that I'm missing something from the stock ROM.
Called AT&T, they knew absolutely nothing, and couldn't help at all.
I suppose I'll try flashing a few more modems, including stock, and then I suppose I might have to reflash to completely stock if that doesn't fix it.
Try the sim card in another phone. They might not have apportioned it correctly.
Any modem will get you at least voice and EDGE, so don't worry about that now.
I have wap.cingular apn for a voice and data plan.

Hmm I'll see if I can dig something up. However, I'm a little unclear on what will happen because this is the $15 AT&T Tablet data plan, and at best I might be able to scrounge up a phone.
The sim card automatically entered wap.cingular apn on my tablet plan as well.
I was soo excited when I found this thread. This is clearly my situation exactly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1083173.html
I was using the voice APN on a data plan. I deleted all the old APNs, created a new one that is just Broadband/Broadband for name/APN. Rebooted.
Hit connect, and.....it's still screwed up. Now it flickers back and forth on the status page between Connecting and Connected, and the status bar up top reflects the same - I'll see the H with arrows for a half second, and then it'll disappear again.
On the Mobile networks page, Use packet data now similarly flickers between checked on its own and unchecked and gray.
Okay, no idea why, but everything works now.
After Broadband failed to work, I tried changing it to APN Broadband. That didn't work either, so I changed it back to Broadband. Things then started semi-working in that the connection was still flickering on and off, but when it was on, data was actually being transferred.
I rebooted, and now it's fully working. Hope it stays that way. Seems to shift back and forth between H and 3G a lot considering I'm in the middle of a city with full bars not moving, but other than that, all seems well.
It would have been good to know about 1,000 word ago you only have the $15 broadband sim!
Apn is: ATT BROADBAND, and nothing else.

Hmm I have it set as Broadband, not ATT BROADBAND, and it's working for now so I ain't touch it.
Are people able to activate an AT&T Galaxy Tab on anything but the broadband sims?
Yes, I have voice and 3g data by ising a sim from my old android phone.

Keep Losing Network and Data Connections

Don't know if anyone else has had this issue in this forum, but I have found several others with same issue in other locations. No one has come up with answer and HTC has been no help.
If I lose my signal, due to location or if I drop off of wi/fi and go to cellular data, it seems that the phone loses the ability to make or receive calls or texts. For example, if I leave a strong signal area and drop to edge service or none, and then return to a good signal location, the phone shows full bars and 4G but if you try to make a call it will not connect or if someone calls in they just go to voice mail. I have to reboot the phone and all is good. This seems to happen several times a day, never any issues with iphone 4s or Galaxy S3.
Here is what I have done and then after the fact HTC sent me an email telling me to do same thing.
1. Got new sim card.....HTC is convinced that the sim from my iphone was not good.
2. Exchanged for new phone.
3. Ran phone without syncing to my google account or any downloads.
Still same issue with losing connection. Most of the time I don't realize it until someone says, hey I have been trying to call you. I reboot phone and, wow, several missed calls and bunches of texts.
Let's see what they have to offer after the complaint.
Thanks

Hey, similar problem here
The difference is that I only loose mobile internet when disconnecting from wifi in AOSP roms (and GE), on sense roms it seems fine.
I have however noticed a pattern, it might help some one figure it out, but it might help you too.
I only lose Internet when disconnecting from wifi If 4G Is on, if I force my phone to not use 4G, then I don't loose network.
Also, if I do loose network, a reboot isn't required, you can simply Turn airplane mode on and off, that has always worked for me.
Ps: to force the phone off 4G I do the following :
1: open dialer
2: type : *#*#4636#*#*
3: go in "phone information"
4: under "Set preferred network type" set it to "wcdma preferred"
The reason I prefer this method is that it's always the same no matter the rom.
Pps: my baseband is 4A.17.3250.17, if that matters for any reason.

Not solved...try everything...but no luck....
I get it too seems like the phones radio doesn't switch frequencies as smooth as other phones.

No APN specified on the device - Driving me insane!!!

So yesterday I rebooted my phone and this popup keeps showing up saying 'No APN specified on the device'. I haven't changed anything, the old APNs are still there. Tried deleting and reentering APN but the popup still persists and now even my internet does not seem to work. To add to the trouble, the phone gets all laggy and jittery when this happens. However, once I connect it to a WiFi network, the popup goes away and the phone works fine once again.
Theres no problem with the network as my other phone seems to be working just fine, internet et al. Someone please tell me theres a solution to this :crying:
Which carrier are you with? You could try a SCRTN by dialing *#*#72786#*#* on the stock dialer if on sprint. That will reset the radio and the phone and force a reboot to do hands free activation again. Alternatively you could try to do a profile update through the settings menu. Though that then becomes more carrier specific as well.

[Q] My HTC One can't make/receive calls and text

As the title says, my HTC One suddenly is unable to make/receive calls and text messages. It happened randomly without me doing anything to the phone. The weird thing is, the signal bar indicates it is able to receive signal since it is full. However when I lock the phone, a "No Signal, Limited Service" message appears. Phone info also shows that the phone is receiving signal but the GSM service is set to "Emergency calls only."
I already updated everything. I'm running the latest radio, firmware and 4.4.2 Kit Kat. I don't want to give the phone to HTC service centers since their service is quite ****ty here in our country(Philippines) so I'm trying my luck here.
Here's the screenshot for more details. Thank you!

most likely a problem with your sim card or your account.
Have you paid your bill?
'Emergency calls only' usually means the device can see a network, but your 'home' network is unavailable.
Have the same problem the only solution was to restartmy phone. Btw have fixed the SIM size issue whichwas causing it but itstill happens from time to time.

Uhm currently, I am not subscribed into any postpaid service being offered by my network. I am relieved to know that this is not a hardware issue. Thanks for the reply by the way.

How did you fix it? I found instructions around the internet to put a little piece of paper above the simcard to increase contact but I haven't tried it yet.

[Q] Straight Tall APN issue with SM-910T

So I recently got a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4. As we know, it's unlocked 100% without any special root methods or entering in codes into the dial pad. With that being said, I popped in an LTE Straight Talk SIM card, transferred my old number to the new SIM and configured the APN and for a long while it was working fine with no issues. Then out of the blue, I had no data. It absolutely quit without warning. I go to check the APN settings I had previously and they were gone. I had redone everything and saved the settings. However, when I go back out a menu, no Straight Talk APN. I did the same thing again....and once again no APN settings. Just the default T-Mobile LTE APN.
So I'm at a loss. It was working fine previously and now I cannot set APN settings. I have reset the phone more than once (reluctantly). Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated since I'm paying those bastards $45 and some change a month for service I cannot get. Also as a note, I can receive and send text messages with no problem. Calling number results in "you are not registered on a network," but I know the fix for that.

Try setting the APN with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tracfone.straighttalk.stdatasettings
Sounds like your phone got black listed. Did you buy it from Tmobile? If you bought it from some one else it was either a stolen phone or the previous own stopped paying for it.

I had bought the phone from a local gas station owner (who had 2 other T-Mobile phones with him). It was working while he showed me the phone (he had gotten several text message and Facebook updates). He then reset it. I bought a Straight Talk SIM kit and went to work. I had working data until the next day. I had played around with some more internal settings, like updating the touch sensitivity and more. Everything was working until I refreshed the Wi-Fi antennae. Don't think that would have anything to do with the 4G/LTE radios or regular antennas. Overall, it was working, so I don't see how it could just magically stop.

If he bought the phone on a lease from T-MOBILE and never fully paid it off T-Mobile would black list it. Or if he sold you a lost\stolen phone.
You can contact T-Mobile or check the IMEI on one of those checker sights to see if it has been blacklisted.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
You can check to see if you're blacklisted by visiting the T-Mobile website and using their IMEI checker. If you're blacklisted you would not be able to place calls. I will attach sample AT&T APN that works for me. I'm on Cricket and not StraightTalk but it may work for you.
For all who helped out on this post, THANK YOU! I figured what my issue was. SIM card is fine and the data settings work as long I don't configure the MCC & MNC settings. Changing the MNC from 260 to 410 is what caused my saved APN to disappear. Not sure why that happens, but if any of you have an idea of why, direct me to the thread that explains this or if you know, quote this reply. And another thing, I am able to send texts and make calls, but due to the location I was in, texts sent at half the speed of smell and making a call was impossible due the phone claiming I was "not on a registered network" even though ST is a network (duh). I have no service issues on my Note 3 N900A when I that. Anyone think it could be because AT&T's device antennas differ from that of a T-Mobile Note 4? Personally, I don't think they would since they are both GSM and operate on the same bands (I would think), even though the Note 4 has "newer" technology. Not really worried about data, texts or calls since I have Wi-Fi in said location.
Again, thanks to those that helped me out. And, again, if anyone has any ideas to the information said above, by all means give your say or direct me to where there is substantial info.
