Charge and data are two different operations. The cable could be good enough for data but not for charge.
That said, was the second charger a Samsung or OEM specific for tab? Samsung chargers have a special resistor network inside them that allow the tab/phone to detect that it is a charger vs a data port.

Not very likely. But then again, neither was the platypus. :silly:

the second charger is a samsung two ( 2.5 A , 5 V ), he works fine for two days.

Slow Charge on Stock Samsung Charger

Guys, I've been rocking my note for 2 weeks now, and I noticed that the charging with the stock samsung charger (if I use it while charging sometimes it drops % ) is reallyyy slow!
Until yesterday I used my old HTC Desire charger, and it worked as a charm, it charged way faster, but unfortunately I gave the phone to my GF and I had to get back to the Samsung one.
Looking at this thread in the AT&T version of the GNote, (http://goo.gl/RUcZ2) it looks like the problem is the stock wire not having the pins shortened. But I'm kinda lost, since I am not an expert of these things.
How did you solve this problem?
Can't you just try with another USB cable?

i use my old htc charger too but not becuase of fast charge, becuase the samsung one makes a high pitched squeal that annoys me

If it makes that sound, there is a shortage, DO NOT USE IT! It may cause fire. Return it to dealer for a replacement charger.
A charger should not make any sound at all.

Slow charging using USB laptop!

Hi guys. Is there anything that i could do to make my galaxy note 2 charging faster using a laptop? Charging using my laptop is soo slow! Help guys!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
That is the limit of usb on a computer. If you want a fast charge you need to charge off the wall.
Wait for kernels that pump up the charge. (not recommended)

USB outputs about 900mA to charge devices with. Note 2 wall charger has a 2A output. Do the math.

True enough; I just gave the maximum amperage you can get out of USB. Probably should have been more specific.
Something like this might solve your issue...
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB2HAUBY1-Cable-External-Drive/dp/B0047AALW6
Not sure I would be willing to try it myself though.
Lol, yesterday I put it on charge at 20%, checked it after two and a half hours, and it was at 55%. I have USB 3.0 on my cabinet/MoBo, but just need to find out which one is it, but how do I do that?
This is a known issue on almost all Samsung phones that most people here aren't willing to acknowledge. The USB spec allows 500mA, but Samsung designs the recent phones to only pull 96mA. Apparently some of the modified kernels correct this.
Just be glad it's not like my old Samsung Focus. It would only pull 50mA which was less than the screen consumed. If the battery was totally dead, that phone was impossible to recharge via usb because it would auto-boot after you connected it, which would immediately consume the small charge it had acquired, thereby dying again.
Anything you charge off of a usb port will take forever.

Other brands of phone I've had seem to charge very quickly over usb. My laptops usb port will even give my ipad a full charge more quickly than my GS3.
Guys, try this. I have been using this for a few years now, works like a charm with everything, including iPads

Yes, that feature is included in a number of Asus devices, and it works really well. It's included in my Asus Sabretooth Z77 motherboard, and also on my Asus Diamond router (which has 2 USB sockets).

Why are you guys in such a hurry? I thought that it was best to charge the battery at the lowest possible amps - and the maximum should be 2amp/hour with the wall charger... so, as often as you can, charge the battery from usb, so that the battery lasts longer...?
- Bobo
Or just get a spare USB cable that you dont use to often. Short out pins 2 & 3 to force the phone into AC charge mode. You just wont be able to use that cable for data any more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767961
I was thinking about doing this or at least purchasing one online, but not sure what needs to be done, do I short out the CABLE or do I short out a USB port on a car charge? I read on a different thread that a guy who drives for 30 minutes, increased his charge from 15% (unmodded) to 30-31% (modded) and I think he did this to the USB port in his car charger, but not sure

Charging issues with Cyanogen 10.1.3

Hi there, im posting this thread because i had/im having issues while charging through wall plug my Galaxy S. It says its charging but it wont charge really as the percentage will never go up. If I charge the cell through usb from computer things go fine and it charges normally.
I've purchased a brand new charger to see if the old one was the guilty for that issue but the brand new is not working either.
Any of the battery supplies doesn't work either so i figured out that the issue came from software so I upgraded my Cyanogen to the most recent stable version and well, at the first charge through the wall plug was fine but after that isnt working again.
So I'm asking you guys if there's a solution for my issue, i'm really desperated with this problem. I can't travell if my cell doesnt charge through wall plugs.
Thank you.
Hi,
i`ve posted your thread in the development thread of CM 10.1.3 ...maybe more people have a idea what it could be !

I've checked it and its not a hardware issue. This issue started to happen when i installed a stable version of Cyanogen and data connection through USB works fine when im transfering movies and pics through the usb connection. Problem is while charging with every wall charger i have for Galaxy.
Maybe make a backup of your device...with CWM-Recovery and t est with another ROM or newer ROM, like CM 10.2 ...only as a test

I bought recently a samsung charger recently.
Before having 10.2 i was with experimental versions of Cyanogen but mobile didnt work properly so i did full wipe of data/cache/dalvik and installed the custom firmware (Gingerbread) and then i upgraded it to Cyanogen doing the right steps as detailed in this forum.
It is really strange, that it worked over usb ,but not with a wall plugged-in charger ...
But i don`t think that it is a software-problem ...
Do you have any news actually?

It may be problem with current output of charger. Check whether your charger is giving 700mA (0.7A) output.
Find the output marked on the sticker (or on body) on the charger whether it is written 700mA or less.
If it is 700mA, then output is equivalent to the original charger. If it is 550mA, then it's just OK. And if it is less than 550mA, it is of no use for Galaxy S.

Hi, I've just checked the charger outputs and they are between that range. One is 0.7A and the other one is 550mA. Thing is that with the 550mA one it only charges when i plug the connector to the phone in the same particular position, if not it's not charging. The 0.7A one is not charging at all but is the one which charged the phone without problem some days ago.
I'm ordering an additional one to confirm my suspects, ill keep u noticed, thanks for all the help!

Instead of buying the new charger, You may buy the charging pin as shown in the pic given in the link. It will cost you just around 2% of the cost of the original charger.
www.telecomb2b.com/uploadedimages/3023Connector-pin.jpg
Separate both the parts (mobile end) on the charging pin and also on the old charger. Now exchange the end parts of both (charger and charging pin)
and enjoy refreshed charger

Fast charge mode has nothing to do with Ac charging. When connected to USB, our phone allow limited power to go for charging. (As you can see, it takes around 6 hours to charge via USB.)
This mode removes this limit and speed up charging.

No Fast Charging after updated to the latest Nougat version (200MB) update

Hi,I'm using the exynos version of galaxy note 8, currently running stock firmware on this version
Before the update, the fast charging running normally, but after this update the fast charging doesn't work although the fast cable charging option has been ticked..
Sometimes its running, but mostly its not.

Is it ? I didn't know about this..
But at the previous software version it does charge faster with fast charging status.. at the lock screen also stating cable charging instead of fast charging.. the estimated time also different ( 1h10 vs 1h30 ) for example

Hmm, maybe you try reflashing your system with odin
try simple things first, clear cache in recovery and reboot, if it doesn't work then maybe just wait the few days for Oreo and see if that fixes it, full reset should always be last option
Also check your cable and port.
Mine was a bit dusty and stopped fast charging as well.
Cleaned it and it was fine again
Most likely not a software issue, it would be hardware which doesn't necessarily mean you phone, as tbe others said could be the cable or even the adapter. I never use the stock Samsung cables, IMO they suck & wear out fast.
I've never had a problem with fast charging, cable or wireless. I'm on a new fw version than you & even when I was on RA8 I never had an issue.

I have a 950F 128 gb, the first day I tested many things, including fast charge, and it did not fast charge when screen on, after 2 software updates it behaves exactly the same way, anyway, I really do not care about it, I never use it, as it puts more stress in the battery

With a fast charger plugged in it will display fast charging but it's not actually fast charging. But this is a good indicator to let you know your cable & charging adapter is supporting fast charging. As said, it's not actually fast charging until the display is turned off.
Plug in a USB voltage/current tester & you will see. Don't have one & you want to test for yourself. Compare charging times with display turned off & display set to never turn off. It's not just the Note 8, has always been this way since fast charging came out, at least on Samsung devices.

⚠️Quick Charge and OTG damaged

Hello, I have connected my smartphone to the original Samsung charger. Suddenly there have been noises in the USB connection. It has smelt burnt. Now quickcharge and OTG does not function any more.
Data transmission and slow charging works.
I have changed the ROM many times. But it does not helped. Sorry for my broke english. I'm German.

I'm not an electronics expert, but "it smelt burnt" is usually not a good sign. I think the hardware was damaged and I would not recommend to use the device anymore as a possible short circuit can cause a fire.
You can send it in to Samsung for warranty repair. If you don't have it longer than 6 months, it should be easy. Where did you get it from?

I buy it on November, 28th 2017 by Samsung Online-Shop.
Moreover, I have an additional assurance.

I have not rooted my phone and i always use Samsung orignal cable and otg connector. it seems it all started after update. do you have FD model ?
I have the same problem i can only charge my N950F with wireless charge and the micro usb adapter. I can't connect with my PC it doesn't recognise my phone. The charge is slow with micro usb adapter more than 5 hours to charge at 100%. I've tried to install many rom but the problem is always here. What can i do please?

Yes i've tried but nothing. It doesn't work. Also with debug usb not work.
Hello can you help me please? For me it's a big problem
@prodaz
With your information's nobody can help you right.
Maybe you are still on Nougat bootloader but on oreo Rom. Maybe vice versa already on oreo bootloader but on nougat Rom.
You use the original charger and USB cable? Have you tried a different charger and/or cable?
Maybe best way is, flash latest stock rom and test it again. If then all is ok, it was a software issue. If it isn't, maybe your USB port is damaged or Dirty

I've tried all these solution, an other usb cable, flash the latest stock rom, clean the usb port, try with an other cable. My usb port is not damage because it charge with the usb adapter but is slow.
When i put the usb on my pc a message prompt that it doesn't recognise the device. reinstall driver does nothing.
Thank you Logel for your help.
@prodaz i had same problem and it was related to hardware. i advice you to go to service center.
