Don't buy Motorola they come with locked bootloader.
Don't buy the 3gs its overpriced.
Some of those Xperia's are really good priced for the hardware you get. ( here at least) I don't know how their community is though.
Samsung is always a good choice. Just make sure to go for one that has official ICS upgrade.
The Nexus S is a very good choice. Bugless ASOP.
Don't buy the HTC One V. It's got buggy bluetooth even on the official ROM.
Lg takes their time with updates, but their updates are really good quality.
I don't think any of those phones justify spending that much on a phone. It's not that much better. Why is it you want to change? Some of those phones are even with the optimus black. The Optimus Black is BETTER than some of those phones.

For see the hardware spec diff use "compare" feature in some gadget website like gsmarena.com, phonearena.com, etc.
About ROM dev, go to each it dev section in xda.
Maybe it can help you to decide.
If I were you, I will go for Nexus S, coz it have bugless AOSP

What about sgs II? Still too expensive? I think it would be a good deal
thanks for all suggesstion
i thank all for the suggesstions given.
i saw all and got the Galaxy S II Lite. it is a good phone.
@xonar_, tog3, n00by8015 - xperias have problems. xperia u - no card; xperia sola - no front cam; xperia go - low screen res; xperia arc, neo v, neo l, ray- no dual core nexus s also no dual core. also other like L7, one V, defy etc-no dual core. and s2 costs more than i can give.
s2 lite is best in my range. superamiled, 1.3 mp 2nd camera, good 720 recording, curve like screen display like galaxy nexus, mali 400mp gpu, dual core cpu. good. only thing there is no xda forum. and only one rom here called jetmod. and one rom in htcmania called chuck rom. dat is all.:crying::crying::crying: but the phone is good. wil get jelly bean from samsung directly from GB.:fingers-crossed:
where do you live? If you can buy on ebay, the galaxy nexus unlocked is arround $300-400 surprisingly!

1. xperia u
2. xperia sola
3. xperia go
4. Lg optimus 2x

Im here to ask for you guys what phone should i buy,my X8 will complete 1 year and he needs some holidays. So,i've been looking for the Mini Pro and Neo V,they have the same price, basically the same hardware,so,i dont know which one to choose...
-Mini Pro
-QWERTY keyboard
-More Compact
-Small Screen
-Neo V
-Big Screen
-More feature for video Recording
-Slim
-No QWERTY (but with a bigger screen maybe its easier to write)
Any Sugestions?Remembering that i probably'll buy one of these two,or at least one SE,other models and brands suggestions are welcome anyway!
Thanks and sorry for my bad english!
I would go for Neo V, just because i got used to touch screen writing, and with android, its even easier with apps for drawing/writing like Touch-PAL, it makes sending messagges, emails, facebook comments, etc. Very easy.
And i prefer bigger screens also
Goodbye!
I prefer old neo rather than neo V, neo have more thread on development section than neo V.

I also preffer NEO V
I think it depends of your taste, talking about screen size mainly.
I used Xperia X10 and it's wonderful to have a big screen, videos, images and pics look awesome; the problem with it was its size, very big to take it easily in your pocket or your shirt pocket, for example. In contrast, small
phones (with small screens) are more practic, the problem here is the difficult to type fast... Kinda hard.
Neo/Neo V is the better option because I think this phone is well balanced between screen size and phone size. I used one and looks amazing, and it fits well in my hand and my pocket. So, I recommend to go fot it, as I will.
But Xperia Ray is a good option too, if you want a phone as small as X8 but even thinner. Honestly, since I've using X8 I began to love small sizes, and now I think big phones are ridiculous That's why Neo and Ray are perfect, in my opinion.
Im thinking to go with ray. My real intention was neo,but coz i want to buy a laptop too,i'll go with ray.it got almost the same specs as neo n its stylish

+1 stylish.
Not to mention its pixel density and 8MP Camera. I prefer Ray. But note the lack HDMI port of Ray.

Thanks for everyone,i make up my mind,my next phone willl be Neo V!
About Ray,i think its beatifull too, bout its too small for me the screen on landscape mode, plus, its hard too find were i live!
About Neo (8MP) here the price diferrence is too big ,and i really dont need a 8mp camera,5mp will be fine!
Thanks again my friends!

You must go for Xperia neo v. My friends have all xperia phones. But between neo v and Xperia mini it will be better to go for Xperia neo v. Much better than xperia mini....
Don't make mistakes Neo V is best.
Mini pro thicker among all Xperia model... because of the slide out keyboard. Better go for bigger screen... or get Xperia pro

I'll suggest SE Xperia Ray it has 300dpi screen

Hey XDA. Right now, i have a LG O2X, just turning a year old. My dad just orderd an arc s for a small price. He really doesnt care what phone it is, he just wants to go read the news on the fly.
So, should i choose the Arc? Btw, my mom has a pair of livesound headphones laying around.
So:
Arc S:
Better screen?
Fully working ics
Sleek
Good headphones
but:
Slower
not so much for gaming.
viewing angles?
LG:
Fast with custom rom ( using temasek kang):
Good screen?
but:
thick, heavy
not much support from nvidia.
What would you choose?
I listen to music for about 1.5-2 hours per day while surfing the web on 3G. I play occasionally.
Also postet on the Arc part of XDA.
I'll chose arc just because of OTG-USB without rooting and design and weight and music too(speaker's quite loud and clear with Xloud on)
For all rest things I'll choose 2x especially due to front cam, uniform body(so that it doesn't falls off my hands while held for taking picx/vidz) , camera is better, video bitrate is better thus better quality, screen size doesn't matters when resolution is same and most imp. Is that i hate hardware buttons on phone

well my wife got SE Arc S and have Lg Optimus 2x and i did play quiet a lot with both phones, and to be honest like for me there is no way to change Lg O2X for SE Arc S, simply LG is way better than SE special now when i install v20q(i compare only stock rom), SE is good for read news on internet, or facebok, but i don`t use my phone for that my wife does .
I'm going to buy a new phone. I don't know what to go for. I'm between those two. Can You tell me all the good and bad things?
Take a look on youtube or google, but so far i know, i make the general chat for nothing i think, to ask your questions and stuff over there.

It's a vast topic and I've only had my Xperia T for a couple of days, so I can't properly quantify battery life just yet, but here goes.
Overall, I'm going to say, "no, the Xperia T isn't better than the S III." The S III is, for me, a more complete package. That's not to say that the Xperia T is bad, not by a long shot, but it doesn't feel so all-encompassing as the S III. The S III wins on points rather than a knock-out, but from the top...
The Xperia T's screen is beautiful. It's sharp and responsive and has BRAVIA. The Samsung's screen feels overly saturated, but it's also a beautiful one. I've found the S III's screen to be a little bit more responsive than the T but I prefer the Sony colours.
As far as performance and feel go, both feel fluid and responsive and both will very occasionally jerk or stutter, but the S III does it that little bit less than the Xperia T. I feel like I'm splitting hairs here. It isn't a deal breaker for me.
The S III's camera is very impressive indeed. I was a little disappointed with the Xperia T's camera; more pixels, but not set up from the factory to be so fast. With some tweaking (enable touch take) it's much better, but when working with images, the Xperia T is noticeably slower. Sure. Fewer pixels to shunt around memory and a more capable processor (depending how we measure it...), but this is where the Xperia disappoints me.
What they look like is personal preference, but at the moment there are way more cases and accessories for the S III compared with the Xperia T. The S III is much thinner, the Xperia T is more comfortable to hold than the Xperia S and as great as the S III - but this is as much down to personal preference as anything. I don't much mind for soft buttons or real buttons, both work just fine (and I adapt between them).
It feels like a moot point, but I don't like Samsung's default keyboard one bit. I use SwiftKey 3 and I use it on both devices, so nae bother the big yin as you can change it. Likewise with ICS you can disable junk you don't need, but the Xperia T comes with more stuff on there that I don't need.
For me, it comes down to speed. The Xperia T is a fast and fluid handset, but the S III feels that little bit quicker and more fluid. If you've used neither then you probably won't feel that big of a difference.
Hopefully that helps. The Xperia T plays the value card and it's a decent handset, but the key strength of the camera feels just a little bit hamstrung by the device being slower than the Samsung flagship.
Hi guys
Loved my Xperia S but returned it due to problems(screen) within 30 days from amazon. I have the galaxy s3 (New upgrade) but its going back for the Xperia T, the hardware on the s3 is great, still not sold on Amoled screen though, love the software on the Sony, Xperia T arrives on Monday hope I've made the right decision glad Sony now allow micro sd or wouldn't of bothered.
The Xperia T feels really solid compared to the S3 which feels cheap.
It's having an very unique and great look.
Sony's software is so much better than overbloated Touchwiz.
It's not having 1000 features added like Touchwiz, but i'm not using that stuff anyway.
I prefer clean software. Everything is where you would expect it.
Sony's software is mature and not childish like Touchwiz.
No annoying sounds and colors.
I'm really impressed.

But anyway, it has to go away for CyanogenMod.

Bought Xperia T
I bought today Xperia T. I've tried S3 for a week. It is really difficult to say wich one is better. My choice was Sony because... I like Sony.
Size, Apps - personal preferences
Speed - very close
Quality - both very good
Buttons - I like S3 main button, but I've missed camera button even more
Battery - Hard to say. I was using both phones a lot, and i don't say any bad words about any of them. But You can't use a spare battery with Sony. But I never used any spare one with any other phones.
Only one big thing for Samsung. DEVELOPERS.

Okay, I am completely sold. Getting the T. Next week. CAN'T WAIT !
Just swapped Galaxy s 3 for Xperia T a few days ago.
Pros:
1. The Software is way better on the Xperia T. Love the task manager with small apps. Xperia link with my Xperia tablet s is a god send.
2. Dedicated Camera button is a must for decent photos.
3. I prefer the colours of the Xperia Ts Screen.
4. The speaker quality is brilliant in calls and movies.
5. Headphone sound quality is richer.
6. Phone is sturdier and feels like a premium product.
7. Keyboard has better sensitivity.
8. PlayStation gaming coming soon, rumoured full wireless dual shock 3 support
9. GPS lock on is fantastic. Really quick and gets it even inside my house.
10. The Xperia T gui is just as smooth as the galaxy s3 and the speed is just as fast in loading and running apps bar some intensive games.
Cons:
1: Games run better, more smoother on the s3 (on really demanding games)
2. Development/community is better on s3
3. Looks like the s3 has jellybean first
4. No burst mode on the Xperia T camera?
5. So far battery life seems better on the s3 but that may be as im hammering the Xperia T as its new.
6. More official accessories available on the S3, where are the Xperia T official cases?!

For the cons I've highlighted above I'd say that they are obvious due to the fact the S3 has had a good few months to build this developer base and also for retailers to release accessories. Only way to do a like for like is give the phone x more months and then compare how the S3 is now to how that is in the allotted time. If you look at the S3 after a week from release date all the available ROM's/mods/accessories weren't there straight away it took time to build up. For these reasons none of these are cons for me
Oh and I'm also looking at the Xperia T as my next phone in November unless Google makes an exciting announcement on the next Nexus phone/series by then.

Unless AT&T locks the bootloader, I'm likely to get a TL - which is almost exactly identical to the T.
Only thing is I kind of want to wait for the next Nexuses... But I'm kind of thinking of using my XDA ERD perk to get the TL and then personal cash for a Nex.

I appreciate this unbiased comparison.
I want to upgrade from my Galaxy S2 soon and i am tempted by the Xperia T,
I played with an instore demo and it felt slightly slower then the S3 in store demo. It could of been because of every single timescape widget running lol.
i wanted to remove the widgets and reset the phone but i think the store would frown on that.
So it's only a little slower and may lag/stutter slightly more?
The screen - the timescape interface is so dull it doesn't do it justice. I watched a demo video showing sea life etc and it was incredible. Yet Gsmarena tested the phone and it's viewing angles and contrast ratio is below that of the iphone 4 (a 2 year old screen). that was disappointing. Now i don't know what to think
But it's so much more comfortable in the hand...i know i will drop the S3!
I personally find it quicker than my S3 in day to day use, chrome also runs a lot better.
Hi there! just a quick question but need a really detail and good answer here. I'm currently using a Xperia X8 which i bought a year ago. getting cranky now so I decided to buy a new SONY phone. I don't see any goodness in Samsung neither in Nokia due to the Windows OS so don't bother suggesting that. Just wanna know which phone should I get, Xperia SL or Xperia T? i love photography and both seem to provide almost what I need. Mind informing the pros and cons of getting both? and also I've used my friend's Xperia S for an hour and i used the XLOUD app, maxed the volume and played a song. It seems like my X8 have a better quality of sound compared to the S. fyi, its upgraded to ICS, he bought it recently, on 16th of October... the sound seems..pitchy and not really up to the "standard" i was looking forward to. So please help people cause in my hometown, SONY seems like an alien brand...
quick answer. get the T. its the more actual and more powerful device

Dual Core Snapdragon S4 Krait, extremely fast,
Sometimes faster than SGS3 or One X
13MP Sony Exmor Camera
Which is better? Xperia Z or Galaxy Note 2. The primary thing im going to be doing is gaming, facebook, browsing the internet and some social networking.
I've heard that the Note 2 lags in some games? I want a phone that can run all games smoothly.
both are amazing phones the note 2 is prob one of my favorite phones of all time but now have a xperia and that too is amazing
i feel you maybe better off with the xperia z cause it might be more future proof but either one you wont be dissapointed

I've heard that the Note 2 lags in some games? I want a phone that can run all games smoothly.

You are talking about battery here
Go for the note 2 , I got one , and its perfect for that kind of needs !
Note2!!!! Xperia Z is too wide plus it's interface is literally gAy. Note2 has greater battery lasts me whole day every time with 5+ screen on time.
Buy a note2 and you won't regret it.... ever... like ever ever..........
Or wait for the note3

There will never be a phone that doesn't lag.
They are 2 great devices, choose what ever you want.
They both have their pro's and cons.
The winner is note 2...Xperia - good design with sh*t camera

The Note 2 has 720p screen + MALI-400MP
Xperia Z has 1080p screen + Adreno 320
It's a really hard choice. I've heard that the screen on the Xperia Z is really washed out. Can anyone confirm that?
Also, the battery on the Note 2 is AMAZING. Thats one of the main reasons I consider it.
