No it doesnt remove anything. Why do you think so? Just install ROM Manager or Quickboot app and reboot to recovery. Done. There should even be an option to reboot to recovery, if you longpress Power button. Then select reboot and then select Recovery. Do some research next time please.

Hello! I recently flashed my GT-I9000 with Darkys. I now became more interested in ROMs like Cyanogenmod and MIUI. Could somebody please tell me how to change from custom rom to another? Is it different? How about lagfixes? Do i need to disable something? Step by step guide would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you got lagfix enabled? If you have you should disable this first
The ROMs you are referring to have full install instructions. If you wanted to start from a stock ROM you can flash using Odin then start from scratch

Nice to see some other fin's
You are on 2.2 stock rom right?
(You may skip this if you've already done)
First, root your phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Then, go to Market with your phone and install ROM Manager and flash ClockWorkMod trought it
(You can get to Clockworkmod by pressing Volume UP + MENU + Power On when phone is off)
(Start here)
Read this and flash the file in it trough CWM (=Clockworkmod). (install zip from sd-card>choose zip)
Before it do a nandroid backup with Clockworkmod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047924
After flashing it, (I suggest you to use the Cyanogenmod ROM, its much better than MIUI IMO) just see this guide and download Cyanogenmod and flash it trough CWM
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/17020-all-models-cyanogenmod-7-for-samsung-galaxy-s-phones-build-20110303/
PM me if you have any questions

Hi people, noob question here:
To install GingerDX v14, i cannot use xRecovery anymore?
Can you explain what is ClockworkMod and how to install and use?
thank you in advance.
clockworkmod is same as xrecovery so if are using previous gingerdx just reboot into clockworkmod and just flash it
You can use the xRecovery to install the GingerDX too...
I used here
yea i used xrecovery to flash gingerdx and clockworkmod to flash wifi hotfix but wifi still has problems
I am using stock eclair yet, i bought the phone les than 1 week ago and i wanted to test stock android first but i am planning to move to froyobread or gingerdx and i have all ready, xrecovery, rooted, etc but when i saw the "use ClockworkMod to flash." in red and all i have assumed that it can't be done with xrecovery.
thank you for your quick responses.
The wi-fi hotfix is for Clockworkmod, flash using it!
can you explain how to install CWM please?
it will replace xrecovery?
i have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119456
but i dont understand exactly how to install.
thank you.
easy way to insalt giingerdx 14 is to first insalt gingerdx13 by flashing it with xrecovery and by insalting gingerdx13 u have insalt clockworkmod and xrecovery and then press the power button ,then choose restart and clockworkmod ,then flash gingerdx 14

Hi
I flashed team hacksung's build 16.
When I launch rom manger, it ask if I want to install clockwork recovery.
I thought it was already installed? Is it safe to proceed? My current recovery seems just fine.
You have to install it, if you want to download files with RomManager. Yes the CWM is already installed.
Sent from my SGH-I9000 using XDA App
So what will it install if I already have CWM?
Just tell the app you have version 3.x.x.x and it will be ok.
thanks but how do I do that?
In app -touch flash Clockworkmod recovery , select galaxy s mtd,it will tell you its not available for your device and ask you if you have installed yourself- touch yes then 3.x.x.x .
thanks worked fine

It's pretty easy.
Are you running on Gingerbread or Froyo?
1 .If you are running on Froyo you must flash Gingerbread with a program called Odin, you can find detailed instructions by searching "How to flash Gingerbread on galaxy mini" on google.
2. After you have flashed it you need to flash CWM ( Clockwork Mod Recovery ), also via Odin.
It can be found it the Android Development Section.
3. After you have Gingerbread running and working recovery you must download the CM 7 zip file. You should try squadzone's CM 7.2 RC 5.6 which is very stable and almost bug free.
After you finish download, you should do a backup of your contacts and memory card.
If you have backed up all your important data you mustdo the following:
-Turn off your phone.
-Press the menu button and then the power button. Note: You must keep the menu button pressed a few seconds.
-CWM should show up.
-Use the volume rockers to navigate up and down and menu button for ok.
-Wipe Data / Factory reset.
-Wipe Cache Partition.
-Install zip from sdcard.
-Choose zip.
-Flash the zip file that you have downloaded and copied to sdcard.
Flashing will take a few minutes.
-After it's complete choose reboot system now.
-The first boot will take a while to complete so don't worry.
And that's it now you should be running on CM 7 !

IMO, its better to flash official CM7.2 stable, although there is nothing wrong with Squadzone's roms.
Why dont you use searchbar ???
These type of topics should not be posted in themes and apps section...but in General section..

Hi there,
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 to root and install CWM recovery on my Note XXLRK.
After reboot, I had CWM 6.0.1.4.
Then I installed app I had in my old phone : rom manager. It told me to flash recovery to be able to use it, so I did it.
It flashed to version 6.0.1.2 !
I tried to flash again with root method below but recovery still to 6.0.1.2 now.
I've heard about brick risk when flashing a rom with this version.
How can I upgrade recovery back to 6.0.1.4 ?
Is it dangerous to flash a rom (cyanogen 9.1) with cwm 6.0.1.2 ?
Thanks
Seems I have no answer yet, I'm sorry I have forgotten to say it was a question !
So here new informations :
I updated with new 2.7 pack (posted by PhilZ today).
Now I have :
- CWM touch 6.0.1.4 when I start with vol up + home + power
- CWM 6.0.1.2 when i select "reboot in recovery mode" in rom manager...
This doesn't really disturb me, I just hope it will not cause problem when I'll flash to cyanogen mod 10 (I'm on stock ICS 4.0.4 right now)
If someone could confirm it will not blow up...
Thanks in advance
As far as I know, rom manager is not compatible for now, so better not use it.
Thanks for your answer.
Should I uninstall it, or can I keep it but just don't use it ?

You can leave it installed.
You can flash only recovery from Phillz, read last 1-2 Page of that thread

I've just read that.
I will not use rom manager anymore, unless I am certain it does'nt make a mess.
If you like bootloops
CM derived ROMs will never run along a stock kernel. You should keep the kernel CM ROM comes with

I'm a bit lost with that, I really should read other tutorials, as I don't understand why I can't go from cwm + stock 4.0.4, to cm10
