ICS Battery Issue (can't find old threads) - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

So I know there were people with battery issues when the first leaked official Samsung ics Roms came out, but I can't find the posts....
My tab is fully charged. But shuts itself off with 'low battery' after 20 minutes of use. How can I retrain the Samsung ROM to not do this? It's driving me crazy.
Thanks!

Gingerbread ROMs Charging Bug Possible Help

JoeDV deserves any thanks for his find on this !
I just wanted to post this as an FYI and hope that it helps some, as it did help me...
The charging bug is an issue in the GB Roms. -- that is, leaving your phone charging for an extended period of time and expecting to unplug it and be at 100% full charge but to your dismay you find your phone at 82 or somewhere similar and ur like what the...
But JoeDv happened to notice this...and please click his thanks button if this works for you... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14890663&postcount=5246
I used my daughter's old LG Xenon travel charger and this worked for me.
Thanks again Joe DV for the great find.
I need to specify, since the release of the "leaked" I897uckf1 Android 2.3.3 has come about, that I originally posted this thread while I was running an I9000 Ginergerbread Rom. And that was where the charging bug was being seen, that is, on the I9000 Gingerbread Roms.
Since my original post, I have switched Roms, and am currently running designgears latest I897uckf1 Beta 2 Rom ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127578 And many users, including myself, have experienced no sign of the charging bug. Our phones, after an extended period of charging, when removed from the charger remains at 100 %.
Just wanted to share...
Thanks for sharing. This issue seems to be severely under-reported (except in the Mosaic thread).
This actually really sucks because I use my USB charger all day at work and have a number of Samsung chargers.
What I experience is the phone will charge to 100%, then it stops charging and never starts to charge again after the battery drains.
I really like using 2.3.4 ROMs, probably enough to overlook this bug, but it would be nice to get to the bottom of this issue.
I've seen some people complain that it's a Samsung issue, but the fact that it worked before and works on the leaked I897 ROM negates that.
I wonder if t is kernel related? I am no developer so I am not certain where within the phone the charging policies reside, but it would seem that there is some type of incompatability issue from the I9000 ROMs that perhaps could be ported from another I897 ROM.

cant understand why??????plz tell me

hey people!
i just dont understand why the s3 comes out and our note still not ics 4.0.4 but 4.0.3
and why no body can set the no scrolling wall paper as in s3 and why it still got little lag with every rom not much but few times in aday we have little lag if we do this or that why?
i think everything will be smoother and better with 4.0.4 so why dont we have it???
why will it suddenly be smoother?
Everyone cried out for ICS and i even stated that as soon as it was out we would have threads along the lines of its crap im reverting to GB
Samsung took 6 months+ to get a decent GB rom for the SGS, and will probably take as long for a decent ICS.
It isnt going to change the world going up that small increment.
It is what it is.
when i bought my first note 40days ago, i immediatly installed ICS
played around with all it untill I bricked the phone
insrance sent a replacement and Again installed the stock ICS, And the battery life was crap.
reverted back to stock GB and now I am with litining rom +speedmod guess what?
for moderate usage I have got my phone lasted for 2 days and 15 h, and still 15% of juice
cant be happier
will post my battery usage screen shot later.
my advice stick to GB plus speemod kernel until we get an official fix from samsung
I know it's a forum for flashoholics (guilty as charged), but it really feels goods to stop and just use the device from time to time...

2010 i9000 back to life with root and AOSP 4.2 jelly bean preview 05 12 2012

Hey guys,
I bought the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 yesterday with 2.3.3 Gingerbread and guess what I did?
Oh yeah, I rooted it and installed AOSP 4.2.1 preview rom. The feeling of bringing a 2 year old device back to life is amazing and refreshing.
Cheered me up. I was also surprised that I had great battery life with the rom and perfect stability. I got from 100% to 35% battery life over 18 hours and 50 minutes.
The only thing I noticed with the rom was that Photosphere wasn't included but I flashed it separately and I got force close so maybe that's why it wasn't included but no worries. All is perfect.

The i9000 doesn't have gyroscope, that's why you can't use the photosphere function
Hi aharnick2013,
I also using JB 4.2 preview rom right now (developed by pawitp). Do u have problem with alarm? It always FC everytime i wanna set it.

Yeah i had a problem with the alarm. I noticed the ROM was missing a few 4.2 features like the original launcher so I flashed the official galaxy nexus 4.2 stock rom port. Its much better.
Its listed on the i9000 development thread.

That's a great battery life! Was the 3G connection on?
With mine and CM10 it's impossible to reach 10 hours with medium/heavy use.

There are many good roms out there. Personally using sinless. battery life very good.
Some steps taken by me.
1. If you restore apps from titanium, try avoid it. reinstall apps from Google play and use titanium to restore DATA only. I'm not sure if this actually works, but since I started doing this, I rarely have battery drains.
2. I set Wi-Fi to turn off when not using it (screen off) however, not recommended if you have very limited data quota on your subscription.
3 I leave auto sync off for most apps. Leaving weather only to auto sync every 6 hours or so.
4 I dump most Google and HTC related apps using titanium.
Last tips:
I still haven't found any GPE Roms to beat Sense roms in battery life. Stick to sense. But each phone is different
Try custom kernels. Maximus 4.3 with ElementalX has been my best combo on One.
When you found a good setup. Nandroid and keep it safe.
i got the best usage out of my phone using sense roms as well.
currently i am running viperone but ive been between gpe and bonestock and bonestock and viperone both get very good battery life.
the best combo ive run so far has been the viperone with the lunar kernels. run with row and smartmax on . also using tasker profiles to manage my data and wifi conections. right now i am at 15 hours with 56% battery. ill post screenshots tomorrow of full days use .

Oh come on now, everyone silently waits for someone to start a thread like this and then silently watches from the back
I wanna see that screenshot, I get very poor battery life with ViperOne 4.2 and ElementalX

Also, when you switched ROMs you need to give it a few days to settle. Battery life will get better.
