P970 doesn't have a locked bootloader. All custom ROM can be flashed doesn't matter what official software you phone came with. You have to have your phone rooted with a custom recovery installed though. For instructions check NOOBY's HOW TO it's a sticky.

Yes. P970 doesn't have locked bootloader. You need to remember Wipe data, cache and dalvik after you flash a ROM. To get into recovery again use adb
Why cm7.2 might I ask. Were almost at a stable CM10?

Doesn't matter what the base is. It's just what the developer used as a starting point.

Before you flash. Most ROMs will be fine wiping after install, but some ROMs add stuff to data and wiping will clear it. Doesn't matter how you go into recovery as long as you get there.
CWM is the recovery you can't goto recovery from there your already there.

so you arent bricked then
if you can bet into cwr to install a gb kernel then rstoire if not you wil lneed to use pc odin to flash a rom
Did you wipe cache, dalvik, and factory reset?
Upgrading from GB to ICS will usually loop if you don't reset the phone.
Do not wipe cache, dalvik, or factory reset
In fact, stay away from CWM and use PC-Odin to flash a stock image.

On what firmware was your note before update (e.g. 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 4.0.3, etc) and how long did you wait? Try rebooting first either with battery pull or without.
Just flash any GB ROM (Find it on first link on my signature, post #2)
and wipe cache and data from recovery.
Dont wipe on existing ROM, may be you are on ICS after update.

You have two option, one as i said in previous post
OR
Flash safe kernel (like hydracore/speedmod) using PC odin
then wipe cache and data from recovery, but you have to reset counter later.

THANX Dr. but i am not a experienced developer.... had flashed my galaxy ace couple of times...

If you are not experienced then i recommend
visit this post

download and flash any GB ROM using PC odin. Steps are already mentioned there.
after flashing (you will find force closes, dont worry for that)just enter to recovery by vol up + home +power)
and wipe cache and data
your device will boot normally
Then
visit this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20963707&postcount=1
download and flash any ICS ROM you like and flash same way
BUT DONT WIPE after flashing ICS(if you have followed as said above, you won't need to wipe after flashing ICS), if you want to wipe flash safe kernel first.

Just flash a stock rom thru odin
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda premium
1: flash a Philz kernel for ur rom and reboot into CWM and do a facotry reset.
OR
2: flash a GB rom from the same thread and reboot into recovery and do a factory reset
ppl will have their backup data in a nandroid backup.. so its very unlikely that someone will post it.. more over a stockrom backup is about 1 GB

Did you do the 3 wipes in recovery ?
If ODIN passed then all is good, it should be booting.
try the above method of going back to GB and then 3x wipes and watch it come alive
Then start the whole procedure again to get back to where you want to be :good:

I still don't understand because something just happened to my phone. I had rocket jb rom v2 and I wanted to go back to paranoid android. for that I first had to install cm9 (right???) So I wiped data, cache, dalvik and then try to install cmp zip. after 10 sec reported that the instalation stoped and the Android robot had a red triangle inside.
Then I went back and did everything the same, but instaled back rocket jb rom v2 and it worket. Where did I go wrong???

as I said before, there is no need to be on cm9, just download the pa rom and flash it using the procedure above.
md5 is a checksum created when the dev creates the rom. when you download the rom, use a md5 check to verify that the rom you downloaded matches the md5 provided by the dev to make sure you have a genuine download.
I think my phone is damaged, because again it showed red triangle in the robot when I tried to install ne rom (paranoid utacka).
I formated all that you said and tried to install new rom and nothing
What is wrong??????????
and md5 check is the same as Utacka posted

Always after flashing a STOCK rom via Odin boot into recovery and do wipw data factory reset and wipe cache partition too in order to avoid the bootloop
Don't remove the launcher you need at least one to use your phone
Your data mount problem could be solved if you flash an Android 2.3.6 Firmware
(Try with ddq8 or ktm)
