[Q] Ubuntu on Galaxy Ace

Is it possible for an ubuntu for android port for Samsung galaxy ace? I would really like to try it out.

Its nice ui etc i really love it but i dunno how to por ubuntu to as
I think it uses different method then chroot

It's not fully finished os. We cannot port it or build from source unless its finished. They have test builds for galaxy nexus and they say it lags a little but on ace it will lag as hell so wait until its finished.

In ubuntu website, they emphasize on dual core phones. It would be one heck of a task. I think they will release sources soon enough. A stable android rom themed and modded like ubuntu would be nice though.

I'd say it will be similar as CM10.1
Bugs and not very good performance.

It will probably be like ICS it will be a pain to port. And I don't think that our system storage will fot all those amazing features.

Looking for testers

Hello people.
Upon reading the whole forum thoroughly, i find no active Ligux (Pure) here. Therefore, im starting one.
Please provide me some details on the bugs present in CyanogenMod 10 and the features you love to see.

- Flash lockscreen
- Battery drain very fast
- gps not working fine
For me, i dont need any special features, only need stable

But IZS is rocking..

I think that for most people here wants a stable CM10(.1) based whatever rom with good quality cam and working gps.Fancy features are useless if the rom is not usable for the most common stuff.
And "Bruno from Mars", if you will do it, you will gain a Arcee like status on this forum and everyone will bow in front of you.

Ok. Im in the works of the ROM.
this ROM will feature a aim of not adding features to bombard more bugs, but to solve bugs before adding a single new feature. This grants your wish, and is also my aim. to help fellow xda users

To be honest i have no idea.
I know there are some tuts about how to port a rom but the SII and S are two completly diffrent phones so it will be a hard an long job to do so.

That would have taken extensive coding, reworking of the whole framework and the system as well as a hell of a lot of rearranging. Even then, essential features such as video recording, the microphone and the vibrator still don't work.
However, no reason why it should be a dead end. The devs on that project showed that a semi-functional SII ICS port was possible. Just that its incredibly hard to do.

[Q] Would Official CM for S3 Mini benefit us?

While browsing through the device list at the Cyanogenmod download page I found a place holder for the Galaxy S3 Mini. Might be that sooner or later there'll be an Official CM release for it. Do you guys think it would boost our development as well due to the same chipset?

Not exactly we have the same with s3 mini but yeah it can. Even now, the devs from various device with similar chipset (including ours) are helping each other out in sorting out the remaining bugs in cm. So the development for these devices are the same. :good:

Official cm development is completely different. Did you ever heard about codeworkx or cdesai? Well they can make fully working cm in a week or two. (i'm not saying that Team Canjica is doing bad work , we miss sources so we have lots of problems)

But indeed there are differences. And Canjica is making progress everyday. It's more usefull to provide them logcats etc than asking if we can use other phones projects etc...

It isn't possible. They are too busy and they aren't interested in building for this device. It's old and owned by a few people. And this means NO MONEY so they won't help us

Mine, definitely will be a XPERIA (either SP or ZL) because they have support of Jerpelea (FXP) and DoomLord, i've seen their threads (SP and ZL) ZL already has FXP support for CM10.1 and it's confirmed for SP, so, your decision :/
And, XPERIA seems to have a lot more build/material quality than Samsung devices :/ even if ours are easier to hack but their system security makes the user know they put more effort on the things they do.
Did someone already saw Sony Xperia's YouTube channel? They make more than one awesome commercial for each phone they sell, while ours barely has one and it's from Italy (i don't mean it's bad but more countries doesn't even care). They develop more software to better the user experience (Bravia Engine, X Loud, Clear Audio).
Blame me if you want, but i'd wish Samsung paid more attention to user experience for each phone instead focusing the reflectors just to Galaxy S series (just flagships) more people would take more seriously their phones or products...

Codeworkx or cdesai or any other dev for that matter do not work for money..
They work if they wish. These guys can get cm to boot on any device within 2 days. But they support many devices simultaneously. So they opt for devices with large user base.
Cdesai is a kid, he wouldn't care about money anyhow! Donations are just an appreciation for their work..

I think he wants the base more to look at and maybe use it to create a new rom/debug the issues with it rather than wait for another release

If you haven't already, PM him.
I'm sure he'll know who you are and appreciate your help.
