I'm planning to revive an old DIY project on my car tablet dock. I know some people would discourage it due to the risk of an accident, i am well aware of this.
I'm wondering if there are adverse affects with docking a tablet with a magnetized casing at the back? Your inputs are appreciated. Thanks.

I think you would be better off if you made a steel back case for it. That way, you're not putting magnets on the tablet.
Maybe even something like super Velcro would be better, then if you are using in a car for navigation, the magnets won't mess with positioning.

AFAIK magnets pose no threat to mobile devices. Traditional spinning hard disks, floppy disks and CRTs can be adversely affected, but mobile devices have none of those. Currents will be deflected, but any magnet you'd be using is probably far to weak for it to actually affect operation (and would be nonpermanent in any case).

I need something a little more solid. I'm using my tablet as an offline navigation system for my jeep while off roading.

Some industrial velso can be used for that.
I recently saw some Velcro with a strength of, something like 40lbs per square inch.
I actually think its the industrial Velcro you can get at home depot.

Never really noticed until I read this but mine is actually doing it just a little on both sides of the keyboard. They are sending you a new one just cause it is doing that?
Called and verizon had no problem sending me a new one

Yeah if its a new phone, they usually have no problem exchanging it out and making you happy.... they don't want a refund

ah, there is definitely a wear problem there. looks like the sliding mecahnism is scratching the paint. that's too bad, i really like this phone. my guess is a replacement will do the same thing. maybe some protective tape around the bezel will fix the issue.
I have had mine for a little over a week, use the keyboard for everything and dont have this issue.
I can see a spot where the screen slides its a little darker than the rest but does not seem to be removing the paint or anything like that.

i ran my fingernail over the area and it's definitely scratched. the question is the durability of the paint. i've only had my phone since Friday evening of last week and i'm already noticign the wear.
I haven't had any scratching when I slide it up

wow! mine is definitely not that bad. yet.
I'm using the snap on case for the holster, and I know when I slide it out, I can feel some dragging.
With it off though, smooth as silk.
I never put a case on my phone. Why take away the beauty of it. I have insurance and warranty if something goes wrong or breaks.

Yeah I'm having the same issue. I've had it for about a month now, and a while ago I would hear a scraping when the phone opens. I noticed there are two clips underneath the screen that probably help the phone STAY closed/open. This is where the scraping is for me. Mine is pretty bad at this point, now have silver lines about half a cm thick on the back of my screen. Pretty sad. I know the OG Droid had this issue after alot of wear and time, but this is early. :'(
Do you carry the phone in your back pocket? looks like compression scratches.
No. Only had that current phone for two days before i noticed it.

found a nice place to mount your 2?

I drive a 2002 Grand Prix and I use to mount my Note 2 on the left side right above the dash air vent using one of those universal holders that would stick to your windshield. It did'n't obstruct my front view at all. But I didn't really use it that much because it was just to big, clunky, and really ugly. So I just gave it to my girlfriend. I'm currently looking for something more compact, that will clip on to the center vents of the dashboard, and is easily removable to stow away when not in use.
I was looking into something like this. But I'm kind of leaning towards something that will just clip on the vent.

CD mount is not an option as the radio I will be using has no CD slot accessible.

I also bought this one too today to see if I csn get it to suction to inside the cupholder.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
The other option would be to suction cup on top of the dash right above the DIC, hanging downwards but that's too far s reach for me.

I have a 99 GTP I haven't gotten a mount yet but might look for one. My old NS4G fit in the cup holder but no way this behemoth is doing that lol. I tried propping it on the shifter and it just fell. Basically keep it in my pocket or in the cubby hole in front of the shifter.

See I use my Note way too much to keep it stowed away. Plus, it needs to be close so s not to distract my driving....

You could also get any $3 case off ebay, put soft Velcro on the back of the case and then a square of hard velcro anywhere on the dash. I've been doing this for a while and I love it.

Most vehicle plastics are textured. If the bottom of your cupholder is textured this won't work. It needs a flat /smooth surface.

It's flat but not the entire size of the flat surface is available due to the folding design. The one mount does come with a suction platform though.

Ok so one of the 2 mounts I ordered came in today. It's very late and after 13 hours of work, I am too tired to do any pics. But I shoud be getting some hopefully tomorrow.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Ok so no need for pics on the first one. It will not fit the factory cupholders. Nor will it attach/fit anywhere else except the windshield. So for now, until the floor mount cradle gets here, left side corner of windshield is where my Note will go. Definitely not ideal but it'll do.

Does anyone know or have a drop in pouch anyway kinda similar to this one? This one was for my s3. I'm looking for something I can drop my n2 in when I'm running or in the gym.
Also something with a clip (not loop) so I can clip on my shorts. No arm bands. Thanks in advance

You can try to use some smart cover app that uses proximity sensor to on the screen upon flipping of a flip cover if it helps
Still no s view though

I'm using this
http://www.ebay.fr/itm/BE4K-For-Sam...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item4d124a5f33
Took it from uk seller for less than 5€
It's not the S view, but I think you can use proximity thing to light it up with hands, not sure, I just hit a button when needed
Other than that, I love that case, No need to open it, screen is protected, tho it may not be protected enough if you drop it, that's the only cons for me, but I prefer protection against dust.
I had a similar one in past, full gel transparent, but the flip didn't have anything to keep it closed, so edges weren't always working and things could go between the screen and cover...
