and does the kernel version matter in porting ics from desire s ( virtuous quattro )
shall we use the old miui boot.img to make one for this ?

i use both, tj kernel & sharp kernel frm zailer. my 2nd try in porting ics using u8860 base gv some hope, pass through the red sharp logo, but then stay at ‘ANDROID‘ wording. at least i got improvement. anyone here know, what ext should we use to port ics, ext3 @ ext4?
ohhh, one more thing, in u8860 there is a data folder, what mmcblk0p should i use, for now i put it mmcblk0p8, or can i just delete it? there is an application folder in that data folder, contain 2 apps, uc browser & callmaster.apk. this u8860 ics used huawei launcher, not a standard ics launcher
Sent from my SH8188U using xda premium
Mmcblk0p8 is data partition only. But if its those two apps shall we leave them untilled we boot into homescreen
Btw are you using kitchen or doing it manually .. spliting boot.img
From FIH-fb0, CM 7.2

Hello all.
I want to use the android kitchen but some posts in xda and external websites say it is recommended only for htc devices and some other like galaxy s2.
So is it safe to use android kitchen and develop roms for our rom too ?
I need urgent inputs because I have everything ready to cook a new rom for our mini.

Hi Xda developers and all its users.
I have xperia X8 and i love my phone and using android 2.1 Eclair happily but for so many days i am quite unhappy because of some resons about my phone like
I cant port my apps toy sd card(Main Reason)
Multi touch disability..
So i have just rooted up my phone and install xrecovery 0.1 sucessfully
Now i am bit confused about choosing a rom formy phone..
After reading other threads about same problem some said froyo is better and else said ICS is better..
So guys plz suggest me which rom i should install in my phone which have no bugs and cant be laggy at all...
I can use my phone mostly for gaming, browsing and listening songs.
I like ICS and Jelly beans both..
Is there any custom rom among both of them which i can use....
Please suggest me...
Thank You
Well since you've just install xRecovery i assume you are using stock kernel. So i suggest you to use GingerDX v028b.
You've been joining XDA for about a year now but why did you post your question in Themes & App section. You should post your question in Q&A section. Please read the forum rules!!

What i do now....??
Install GZR!
your device is on stock kernel so put gingerbread rom/froyo ,its more stable....cause jelly bean and ics are not stable though on custom kernel.

yes, use a stock kernel gingerdx for the port. But when installing the rom not work :silly:
I already carry x8 custom roms the kernel but I have this problem with the stock kernel :fingers-crossed:
If you have unlocked bootloader, you need a stock kernel with modified ramdisk (what start adb at boot time), and check the logcat while the phone boot. Tip: use qtadb, with this app you get a real-time logcat window, and you can check what happen when the boot process stopping. (a typical error is an incompatible/missing binary or lib file)
