I have noticed that when the screen is off and even when the smartphone is switched off, the capacitive buttons below the screen have a little light leak. These are supposed to be totally switched off when they're not in use, right ?
Furthermore, I've charged the phone, while it was off, for 3 hours and then left it switched off for 4-5 hours. When I switched it on, the battery was on 98% instead off 100%. That's why I'm worried about this leakage, although I know that the light from capacitive buttons consumes a very small amount of energy.

When the lights turn OFF they should be completly OFF!
Looks more a hardware problem then software...

I notice that my X1 backlight won't turn off.
Even if I set backlight to off after some time, the light just become less bright but not totally off as compared with my HTC Hermes/Tytn.
Is it a "feature" for X1? Will it hurt the LCD if the backlight not turn off, especially that I usually leave it on while charging with USB of my PC?
The backlight dims to minimum instead of turning off completely. If you are connected to a PC it won't turn the screen off, despite the setting in power management. If it is charged with a charger (not PC connected) it will turn the screen off if it is set up to do so.
Tap the power button to turn the screen off and disable the touch feature... key's remain unlocked and apps keep running
I am having a similar issue, if I push the power button to turn off the screen, it turns off, but then 5-6 seconds later it comes back on, this is after a hard reset and no other programs. Any idea what could be causing this?
Hey I just started having the exact same problem today. Turn off backlight with the power button, moments later it comes back on. This 'ghost' activation is inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn't come on for a while, but it will eventually come on.
About 2 weeks ago I spilled some water on it. I dried it out with a hair dryer and all seemed fine but now I'm wondering. It's almost like the power button is shorting out, turning the darn thing on. Any clues or solutions out there?http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Hello all,
i dont know what happened, yesterday my phone died, batter was to low, tried to charge it at my car/usb, at my laptop/usb... to get it back on, but it died again really quick... hmmm
last night i let it charge fully, and this morning i took it out at about 9am
now its 13:30 and it dropped at 60%, and i only had one call on it for 3mins. The display was on standby in the rest of the time, used the auto setting from power saving menu.
the reason might be the damn green LED light which keeps blinking all the time, i have no message in the notification area, no missed calls/emails or anything.
i even removed from settings-> notification all the flashings for the different actions that where before set
the LED keeps blinking, and i dont know why. I tried also a soft reset (got battery out, and back on after a few seconds)
nothing changed
the 2 problems seam to be related as i observed them together
HELP
I have an HTC One. I was using it normally today, but got home and it was one percent. I plugged it up to charge and went to check a notification I had, and it turned off. It has happened before, and the charge light was on and it went straight to the screen where it shows the red battery and percent below it. This was normal - like I said, it's happened to me before. Then, it completely turned off instead of charging. A short time later, the orange charging light went off.
I plugged it up into the wall as advised a forum I was looking at for this problem, and apparently it is a common thing with these phones. I've let it charge for about an hour and it still isn't turning on and both the charge light and the red LED light have not come on at all. I tried to trick where I held it under my lamp light and held the power button and both the up and down volume buttons but it still hasn't turned on. Maybe I just haven't left it plugged up long enough?
Any advice? I use my phone a lot, so I really need it!
Hi guys my xsp has gone to sleep since 2 days ago. it had low battery percentage and it was in my bag. i just pick that and tried to turn it on. nothing happened. i thought it is out of charge and I plugged it in for many hours but i didn't see any signs of charging ( led or turning on. red led turns on after some minutes and turns off again) and when i removed the charger and tried to turn it on the red led blinked for 2 times for each power button pressing and no signs of turning on! i tried both yellow button in the back and volume up + power and also setting in charge for long hours. no changes! plz help
you can see video from this link https://files.fm/u/47qk6fxj
you can try jumpstarting your battery (requires a bit of disassembly), and if it still doesnt take a charge the battery protection IC (it should be part of the battery, it usually is) is bad, and you will need to replace battery.
good luck
I recently acquired a new, sealed HP Touchpad (AT&T wireless). Despite every combination of charging and button press I can find, it only gives the alternating left-right lights on the home button. I assumed the battery may have died for lack of charge in the box, but surprised that I cannot get the display to wake. Any thoughts on this or will it truly not display anything assuming it really is a dead battery?
Thanks all!

When the alternating left-right lights on the home button are display it means that the battery is very low and taking charge.
It must be connected and it can takes hours or a day before it boots into a battery symbol, it will take more time and then boot into the OS.
The reason that the display does not come on is because the battery does not have much power for the display to work.
Charge it wit the original charger and leave it until it boot, it could take two days or more.

That's what I was afraid of. It's charged for several days at a time on two different HP chargers. I even tried the "trickle charge" method with other charges in addition to a multitude of button combinations. The display has never once woke up.

Only use the original HP charger.
Keep it charging in a warm eveiroment over 80 f, colder temperatures prevents the battery from charging.
It can take over a week to wake up.
There is not enough battery power fore the CPU to boot and then use the screen, the CPU process the information that gets display on the screen.
