Update Procedure
1. Downlaod LGDP2 V36 UMTS Setup and extract, go to LGDP2_31_INCLUDE_LGDP1_Setup folder and install the exe (use serial number). Now copy all the files from DOWNLOAD folder and paste on C:\DOWNLOAD (overwrite if needed).
2. Install LG United Modem Driver, connect the phone to PC through USB cable and let the drivers to be installed. USB 1.1 is recommended.
3. You'll need firmware in DZ format and the correct DLL for your model.
4. Open LGDP2_V36_UMTS from C:\DOWNLOAD, select UMTS in Division and click OK.
5. Select port (check Device Manager for LG USBModem Port number), you can set a range from easy select or select manually. Select DLL and select firmware in Downlaod Configuration. Click OK.
6. Click START in main window and connect the phone to USB cable in Emergency download mode(VOL-UP+RETURN+PWR).
*whatever you do, do at your own risk, I just shared original materials and obviously will take no responsibilty​

+1 for this bro. Though , I doubt I'll try this, when I'm sitting very confortably in v10b with custom kernel from mik and oc'ed cpu at 806 mhz.

i rooted my phone and accidentally deleted a file form the /system/app folder taskmanager.apk from that time onwards music player not working .
i downloaded all the file as explained in your procedure but unfortunatly i was not able to update the rom. the last step which says start phone in emergency mode and click start does not do anything everything sits up idle . ...
please help..

Hi!
I followed you guide, and i am stuck to the driver installation part. I installed the usb driver and plugged in the phone to set up the usb drivers, but it allways says "device disconected" after just few seconds. I used 3 PCs with both XP and Win7, it allways disconects my phone after 5 seconds.
This is driveing me crazy, i cannot use ADB, KDZ, LG updater... nothing...
Any help?

Kernel can be flashed through CWM. For Hong Kong the latest is v20d maybe that's why you can't update further.
You can, however, update using smartflash or flash KDZ files using the LG update tool. The latter doesn't wipe your device but both unroots and deletes CWM.

recovery mode is for flash *zip files or apk's, the Download Mode just only for ODIN please make sure u read the dev instruction properly...

Questions:
What's the difference with the firmware posted here?
Is my Belgian country code of any importance, which country code should I choose?
Where can I find release notes for the firmware? I like to know what I'm installing.

If you go to samfirmware.com/samfit ---> samsung letter code. there you can see what letter code you'll need if you want Dutch language. All codes that starts with xx contains dutch language. Don't flash the wrong modem, its possible that you can't make calls. Can somebody confirme this last part?
You can only flash the pda part if you want.

On the site I red: the samsung lettercode for XX says "Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom"
So I guess this firmware is also for my phone?
There is also a Kies symbol next to it, so if I connect my phone to the latest Kies software (version 2.3.2.12074_13) I would expect that I can do an upgrade, but Kies says that I have the latest firmware:
PDA:LA4 / PHONE:LA2 / CSC:LA2 (AUT)
I find this quite confusing.
And why don't they post release notes??? Why should you upgrade your firmware if you don't know what the differences are?

If I go today to sammobile.com/firmware, the overview table "Latest firmwares" shows:

So why explicitly is Spain mentioned?
On the site I red: the samsung lettercode for XX says "Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom"
So I guess this firmware is also for my phone?
There is also a Kies symbol next to it, so if I connect my phone to the latest Kies software (version 2.3.2.12074_13) I would expect that I can do an upgrade, but Kies says that I have the latest firmware:
PDA:LA4 / PHONE:LA2 / CSC:LA2 (AUT)
I find this quite confusing.
And why don't they post release notes??? Why should you upgrade your firmware if you don't know what the differences are?

You'll have to ask Samsung for that. I updated only baseband (modem) today from xxld2 to xxlh2
All works great. if you look for update through your phone. don't you get a update to xxld3??? I did.

This firmware is the latest firmware for indian 5830i. Ur firmware might be the latest firmware in ur country. There is a big difference.

It is the latest Brazilian firmware released last month. I don't know if flashing other countries firmwares may cause a problem, so I prefer to flash this Brazilian one since they released it.

And what about the lockscreen??
On my stock fw (dont know what it is ) i had GNote-like lock, like this:
But, after flashing XXLA2 for the roms i had this crappy one
I tried re-flashing XXLB2 (ITA firmware) but it was still like that
How are these firmwares' lockscreens (XXLA4 and XXLF3)??

XXLF3 has the note style lock screen...Flash this firmware..I think its the best right now
