Many thank's
Did you install the drivers correctly? Because if you don't, that's what it does.

Are you expecting a driver letter to come up, because that's not how the X4 can be accessed through windows.
You have to select MTP usb operation and then a P880 device will be shown in explorer, right below your drives.
Are you patriotaki by the way?

Hi all. I'm trying to get ADB to work. I installed SDK x86. However, I have a 64bit system. Someone told me the x86 works better. The tf701t connects fine to view files, but when I turn on usb debugging, it plays the sound like it didnt detect properly. Also, in device manager, I have the yellow ! triangle next to K00C and base system device. Any suggestions?

If you are talking about windows, Isnt it a MTP driver issue usually? I thought you had to reinstall that. I wouldnt expect that the x86 version is going to be better. Maybe it is! Either way its a mess. You could try linux on a stick. Its easy!

Im not sure if you can use it for production off the stick, but you can put it on a usb stick and try them without harming you system. Then install it if you like it and possibly dual boot it if you like it.

Guys & Girls,
Just got the Nexus 6. Loving it. I have rooted it so know it connects to the PC. For some reason it doesn't show up in Windows explorer (in either W8 or W7). Now my Nexus 5 doesn't either (when it used to). Any thoughts?

Device needs to be unlocked to show up. It's a security measure in Android. Plug in device to comp, unlock, drive will now pop up as external storage.

Yep. Tried different PCs to. ADK with latest drivers - lots of differing drivers - which is weird as the pc (and laptop) recognized the device to root it - it just never showed up in explorer to let me transfer files
Not touched the Nexus 5 and can't see that either - used differing cables too
Usb debugging is on?

Conflicting Android USB drivers are sometimes a problem. Have you installed USB drivers for, say, Samsung phones before on the same machine?
I ask because I had to manually clear out any and all Android-related USB drivers in order to clear out conflicting Samsung Android and other Android USB drivers before I could get my Nexus 5 to show up in Windows Explorer.
Mine only shows as camera device, (you can enable that on storage, USB options) so I drop/pull files from the folder called Pictures and from there I use a file explorer to move them around the phone as I please. Just a workaround
I always use googles universal USB drivers from the SDK . . now sometimes I have to manually select the driver but it always works
Good idea. I deleted all android / google drivers but noticed a Samsung one. Will try deleting that. Thank you
If you go to Device Manager you may notice that the Nexus is showing up as ACER ADB something. If so then follow this.
If the problem persists, right-click the ACER ADB Interface and select 'Update driver...', then 'Browse my computer...' then 'Let me pick from a list...' and you should see two options for the Nexus, Google Nexus ADB Interface and another called MTP USB Device. Choose MTP and hit 'Next' to install the driver, then it should show up as a portable device on your computer.
Answer found from here. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...ing-acer-device-rather-than-android-device-fo
Tried all the good advice given - I have attached a couple of screenshots - tried ADK google drivers too - no help! Arghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am running Pure Nexus now and am rooted (obviously). Before I was previously on a OnePlus running a Stock Cyanogen. I was rooted also on my OPO. on the OPO I was able to browse my file system when plugged into my PC. On the Nexus I can only transfer pic/videos and if I want to push/pull.
Is there something different between the 2 phones/ROM's?
Thanks
EDIT: Update. Turns out the issue is just on my laptop, it works fine on my PC.
So, why would this be?

is there something different between the two phones/roms? well yes, they are two completely different devices, and the two roms are completely different as well. only similarity is that the roms are both versions of android.

Sounds like the captain obvious response I wasn't looking for. Is there something about these 2 phones that makes me not able to browse my root file system or at minimum, my SDcard?
Seems to be a driver issue. Do you have the same drivers installed on both PCs?

Assuming you have laptop and PC with windows.
In the device manager you should see two things
A. an Android device driver
B. a storage device called Nexus 6;
When A. or B. is missing or you see a triangle with '!' , there is an issue with a device driver.
You need to install the missing driver.

I merely plugged the Nexus into the PC (the one that recognizes it) and it worked fine. It is possible there are Google drivers installed from past devices. But the laptop doesn't have any errors in the device manager and sideloads and pushes files fine.

This is my issue. My PC I only see the Nexus storage device (that's the one that I can see my internal storage)
and my laptop I only see Android ADB device.
Edit: I am getting neither on my work laptop. Updated. I will use this same method when i get home. I needed to add the MTP storage device driver.
No triangles on either though.

Is there a possibility that your Laptop does not have permission to install drivers ?
An adb-driver is not enough for accessing internal storage.
If you have permission to install drivers, you could try to change to adb-driver to an 'adb combined' driver.

Yes. The MTP driver is a separate driver. Can usually just search for it in device manager>device>update drivers.
Guys,
I do not see any folders other than DCIM on the PC.
I used the stock cable.
Anyone else facing this issue or is it supposed to be like this?

Mtp works if driver is installed right check device manager while in mtp mode, if you dont see R1 HD under portable devices, chances are driver not set up, try this
In device manager u will see the driver (probably under portable devices) anyhow it will have an exclamation mark on the device, just double click it to bring up properties windows, click the driver tab, then update driver, choose browse my computer for driver software, then click let me pick from a list.... It should come up with several driver choices, select MTP USB Device, that should do the trick, under device manager you should now see R1 HD in device manager, and the device will now show up in explorer.

Hello XDA,
I am only able to read data on the phone when connected via USB on windows. On the phone itself I can change whatever I want ( Via ES-explorer for example) But in windows file explorer I can't. It will not tell me that I do not have proper writing rights, but instead just decides to freeze for 10 minutes everytime I try to make a file change, to eventually give me a beautiful
"windows explorer is not responding" pop-up
What I have tried :
-Rebooting,
-Reinstalling USB drivers,
-Switching USB debugging on and off,
-Reinstalling root,
-Installing the newest Oxygen OS update from February,
-used different cables (also an old micro USB with adapter) And nothing works.
This sucks because I was just trying to change my photography workflow from being Desktop based to being Android based..
Any suggestions ?
Greetings,
Thijs

Did you maybe noticed when this problem occurs to you? I know that one months ago it just did work. Should I reinstall Windows completely?
I've been talking to a few people and it's happening to them to on Windows 10 I think it's just a bug from a recent update try a roll back

How should one file a bug-report for windows 10 then, this can't be something that shouldn't keep unnoticed by them.
Did rolling back fix something for you, and how did you do so?
I've checked another Windows 10 computer which hasn't been updated and it recognises my one plus 3T so if you Google / YouTube windows 10 roll back it should work
Hmm this does suck. This means I cant be up to date on windows for now. Anybody have different suggestions?

The only other thing I could suggest is using a virtual machine to run win 7
Did you try back usb ports?. My pc with windows 10 fails with the front ports.
Solution
Backup all the data in your internal memory and try the 'format data' option from twrp to wipe your internal storage. It could solve your problem, as it did in my case.
New solution, just done works!
Plug in your phone and on the computer go to device manager (have phone in MTP mode)
you'll find the phone as a unknowen device
right click on this select "update driver software..."
a window will pop up select "browse my computer for driver softaware"
then on the next bit select "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my comupter"
then you will have a box with "MTP Device" and "MTP USB device"
select "MTP USB device" hit next and it should work 100%

Which version of TWRP are you running? The thing is that If I afterward can't restore the data via USB haha, then the whole point of backing it up seems invalid

I doubt there's much we can suggest that you haven't already tried. Try another cable/USB Port/uninstall device from Device Manager and let Windows find the driver. Hell, you probably did all that already.
