Ok So I am not a big fan of 5in phones and all, but I have all ways wanted a 1080P phone on one hand. But 350 for the nexus 4 is the bomb!
I got my dad one and it's so good that now I wish I got two of them. But now that is over I have to plan my next phone for my AT&T line that has the GT-9100 Aka unlocked galaxy s2.
The S4 has come to mind, but after the S3 was some what disappointing I don't think I can wait 6+months for one.
So for now it's the N4 VS the DNA Vs the Find 5. I have been trying to think of the pro's Vs con's to come up with what work's best for me. I will start with the N4.
Nexus 4:
PRO'S:
1) 850/900/1700/1900/2100mhz HSPA+ 42mbs AT&T and T-mobile 3G able.( One of the best parts)
2) unlocked
3) 100% "pure google"
4) very good dev support
5) Some AT&T LTE and soon to be T-mobile LTE support.
6) $350 no contract
7) Smaller foot print for better one hand use
Con's:
1) Screen is "only" 720P
2) CPU "throttles" under load more than the "norm"
3) No SD card slot/16GB max
4) Glass back
Next the Droid DNA:
PRO'S:
1) 1080P screen
2) Verizon LTE with quad band Hspa support
3) Can get one sooner than 6-7 week's. (LOL)
CON'S:
1) $600 no contract
2) bootloader Locked
3) No SD card slot/16GB max
4) The Verizon branding all over. (LOL)
Last, but not lest the OPPO Find 5:
PRO'S:
1) 1080P Screen
2) $500 no contract is 100 less than the DNA for a 1080p phone.
3) Unlocked
4) 850, 1700, 1900, 2100MHz HSPA+ 42mbs AT&T and T-mobile "3g" able
5) 2500 mAh battery
CON'S:
1) Still 150 more than the N4
2) The brand is a bit new to the smart phone game.
So that's about it for now. So comment away and I will try and update it soon.
Is the oppo already out ?
Send from my SGS+
I would say get the DNA, your dad already has the N4 and you can swap anytime, the BL on the DNA can be unlocked now, just that AFAIK it does not have soff yet.
Oppso 5 looks good on paper but don't know how it will be on hand as it is a Chinese phone, they do make some good phones but what about the support and warranty etc

No not yet but they have a sign up page for the US market. About just as good as the 6-7 week crap.
That sucker looks HUGE and uncomfortable. Look how the square edge is digging into that dude's hand.
Was looking at the DNA since I've been waiting for the N4 4 weeks but Verizon is THE most expensive carrier and I really don't need a data plan. Going with ATT's $2 day when you use it plan or T-Mo's $30 that are great for the N4.
Agree with everything munchy_cool says.
You should check the stickied threads. Reading them will easily tell you your answer.

the DNA runs at&t 3g out of the box dude ..no unlock required
I'm liking the oppo find 5 which is a N4 competitive $399 at fastcardtech...in a more rounded form factor,,,
The big question is what kind of Dev support it'll get?
Please use the stickied thread here for all your comparison questions and don't post new threads about it.

I love my n7000 its a fantastic phone alot of development its awesome. on tmobile I only get 2G speeds. since I love my N7000 ive tolerated it. I know a guy that on the April25th that is gonna get a BNIB One s and wants to trade. at first I was a little skeptical because of the snapdragon. after reading all the reviews and watching the videos, even with the snapdragon it seems like a pretty great phone. it would be great cause then I could actually get 4g. then again the screen is smaller not HD and no S pen. I thought about the one x but that would only be 2g too, im thinking hard what do you guys think?

If you love the Gnote and want T mobile LTE, you can buy the ATT version and then flash a a radio which supports T mobile 3g on it. The ATT Gnote (i717) is 550 without contract, and you should be able to get most of your money back if you sell your N7000. That way you still have your beloved Gnote, and it works on T mobile 3g (and 4g too)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547114
Or you can do what I did and ditch Tmo and get straight talk. I did this coming from T mobile and knowing that the ATT Gnote would support the 1700 mhz band by reading spec sheets. As you may be able to tell, I decided to go with the international version.
Are you sure you aren't in an area that is getting 1900 mhz tmo 3g soon? Mostly west coast, midwest. (also philly).
I don't really see why you would trade someone your Gnote for the One. It's like in chess- if your opponent offers up a piece for an exchange, it is almost always not a good idea to go for it. It means that they have some reason that they want to trade with you.
Hmmm I may look into straight talk. I actually had the atet note before this one and switched to the n7000 cause its much better. So no atet note for me lol.

I actually offered them the trade. The one s seems like a great phone besides not having the notes 5.3 inch HD screen. Main reason I was thinking about it is cause then I would get 4g. Im gonna look into straight talk .

Looking into getting a Galaxy Camera. I was excited they offered a wifi only camera. Looking at the prices though between the two, it looks like the wifi only version of the camera is about $100 more than an unlocked GC100. Is the ONLY difference between the two that one has cell data capabilities and one doesn't? The GC100 still has wifi, so I'm kind of confused on the pricing...
I was thrown off by the price diff also.. went ahead and got the unlocked one on amazon for 340.... And love it.. took it to Six flags this weekend ( my daughter was dancing there ) used my att sim. and had data and texts all day while still being able to take nice pics.. I say go for the unlocked one, its cheaper, and that sim slot may come in handy one day.. even if u only use the wifi..

True. I have T-mobile which I think will work in it (at least basic 3G), so I probably will go that route. I just wasn't sure if I was missing something or if it was just retailers hanging onto that price for some reason. Thanks.

If you want to hold off a bit we can hopefully provide some files to twistedumbrella and EVA which will help us completely open up the GC120 Verizon Galaxy Camera. Verizon is required to sell any device that uses the 4G LTE spectrum as factory carrier unlocked. So it is quite possible you can purchase a GC120 (for $250 on ebay now) and get TMO 4G (vice just 3G on gsm model) on it.
Just putting this out there. Don't take any of it as set in stone as of yet!

Thanks. I don't see any on eBay for that cheap however. Amazon has the GC100 for $330 which I think is a pretty decent price. I wouldn't mind either if it was only 3G because I would only use it if I really need it (which will probably be rare). Heck right now I have a Nexus S which is still 3G so hey, I'm used to it
I have had several phone replacements, and I am currently eligible an upgrade. I am considering between the One and the S4. So I just want to know, is the LTE signal for the One better than the Evo? For those of you who still have your Evo, can you post screenshots of the Signal difference the two using the app SignalCheck Lite (or a similar app)?
I really, really prefer Sense, but the LTE signal for the Evo was very disappointing. Also, knowing that the S4 will support Sprint Spark, it is now an option in my mind. Granted, Sense 5 takes precedence, because I don't like TouchWiz, and I don't really want to use AOSP every time I use my phone.
I didn't see another related thread, as I am discerning when posting new threads, especially when posting in the forum of a device that I don't own...yet.
Thoughts, comments?

If you like Sense and want Spark. Get a One Max. Also, only the newest model S4s get spark. The older model is not triband capable. I keep very good LTE nearly everywhere now especially since the update to Kit Kat.
I'm not exactly sold on the One Max as yet...and the upgrade price is more than the S4 and One combined.

I have not checked the sprint nexus 5 forums to see how that phone is faring but it also supports spark. You can buy from Sprint or directly from Google store and it will activate on Sprint. Just mentioning the phone but do not have opinion myself.
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_5_16GB_Black?id=nexus_5_black_16gb&hl=en
I believe 16GB is $349 and 32GB is $399.
I would wait for the m8 to be released. But I came from the evo lte and the One definitely holds its lte better. That was my major gripe with the evo lte.
The Mrs has a note 2 and I see her phone switching back n forth between 3g and 4g much more often then my One.

I understand. Was just throwing that out there. It is not an upgrade, you will not extend contract. Plus you want Sense and this one would be pure Android since it is Google.
Best of luck with whatever you do. I am happy with the HTC One and do not know what it will take to pry this out of my old, cold hands....

A free HTC One 2 will. Anyway, thanks for the response. My phone is beginning to fail me, and I do not think that I can wait for the new One to be announced (not released, mind you) in March. I'm pretty sure that I'm not getting it anyway.
And since this is my phone, and not to be shared, I don't think that I'm ready for Samsung.

Hey I am a long time Verizon GS3 and droid x user living in south east Florida and I am thinking about switching over to att. I have been doing a lot of research both on att and the new moto x and I believe that's what I am going to do. I see a lot has been done with att network in the last year or two and the next is a better deal than Verizon's and the plan is $15 cheaper for individual until my wife's contract is over in Oct. So....should I switch? Has the network really gotten better? Good customer service? Good prices? Give me some feedback on your att experience....I have a big decision to make by Friday. My GS3 broke last week and my bday is tomorrow and I am dying with my wife's cracked screen thunderbolt from 3 years ago...lol Thanks.
Oh yeah..should I do the motomaker? Seems really cool but I will have to wait another week or two...lol
What back materials hold up? I kinda like the wood...heard the leather scratches and might not hold up?
That's a lot of questions in one thread lol.
Happy birthday first of all and here are my .02 cents.
If I were to do it again, I'd go with AIO wireless or some other cheap carrier. AIO or whatever it is called is actually on AT&T network and has everything you need. You just have to buy your own phone which IMHO is much better anyways. No need to sign a contract. Phones are beyond locked down and too much bloat. Get pure version of X through moto maker and go with $45 a month plan. IMHO, that's the way to go.
Hope that helps.

I had Verizon once hated every thing about them, still do. Where I'm at and places I travel to have pretty good AT&T coverage. I'm a multi phone user and I can switch them for certain situations, S4 Active for hunting and fishing trips, N5, Moto X '13 and '14 because of Motorolas radios and the experience, iPhone 5 for Facetime. This is a decision you will have to make for yourself based upon what is important for you. As far as back plates, wood and leather scratch but can both be repaired/retreated easily. I went with standard soft touch because I'll end up putting a skin on, hopefully blue camo like my N5.

Maybe as long as you get good AT&T signal. I personally think it's better to get the Pure version over AT&T version even though it lacks a few AT&T LTE bands, it should support enough of their LTE bands that as long as you live in big enough city you'll still get good coverage. Most people should have no problem. I still think it's worth it over AT&T crapwares, locked bootloader, locked sim, slower udpates and lower resale value. You could test their coverage by using an AT&T MVNO like Cricket for just one month, and later sign a contract if you really want to.
As for "good customer service". I have dealt with AT&T in the past and I can only express my opinion about them using vulgar languages.
Check local signal. If AT&T has good coverage (they do in most of US, close to Verizon's) then go with a pure on Cricket or AIO for the best price.
I am getting really fed up with verizon. I am still running a Samsung S4 rooted with Hyper drive. I Really want to upgrade to the Note 4 but still no root and no progress on the bootloader. Future looks bleak.
I got a great deal from T-mobile - a note 4, iphone6 and 2 iphone 5s referb. for $192/mo.
Here is the plan details.
- unlim talk & text.
- 10gb/mo data each line (Thats 40GB!!!/Mo)
- An additional 10GB/mo per phone for the first month. Thats 80gb.
- data stash each month carryover for a year. Then the first month drops off.
- Free hotspot.
- 20 days to decide - return all phones with full refund.
So the only deciding factor is how good is the coverage in new england specifically CT, MA & RI.
I live in the hartford area and also need good service in Storrs and RI.
Does anyone have any expericence with T-moble in these areas? Please let me know - good or bad.
If the service really sucks i may just return all 4 phones and keep waiting for someone to crack the Note 4 bootloader on verizon.

The Hartford area with the Note 4 will be pretty good since a lot of Band 12 has, and is being deployed here. Not so good for the IPhone. Since they do not support band 12. For example at my house service is good except in a few rooms it drop to Hspa. With Band 12 now I never lose lte at home.
Traveling from the Hartford area all the way through Massachusetts to Maine it's been all Lte for me on my Note 4. Now that band 12 will be deployed in Massachusetts, and Rhode Island coverage will get better.
Western Connecticut, and Western Massachusetts a pretty much dead zones or 2g still. Just take a look at Sensorly I mapped a lot of the coverage on it, around here. After seeing how coverage improved with Band 12 I wouldn't get a phone with out it.
