Hi,
I am facing this known defect reported @ http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5851
and http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3492
I am unable to download the APK file over SSL & 3G to set up the Traveler Client.
This can be worked around with Firefox, but then the Synchronization between the Traveler server and the Traveler Client fails with SSL. (SSL works unless there is some download..so I can view my bank account balance over SSL etc...but Synchronizing with the Traveler Server fails)
I have worked with Traveler Support, LG Support and the ISP for weeks, tested different SIMs, tested my SIM in other smartphones and everything is pointing to the SSL not working on this Optimus 4X ( traces were collected on the Traveler server and no connection are made to the server, indicating that the issue is prior to the connection..i.e. Handshake....note that we checked the proxy setting, none were set up).
I am running the latest update of Android 4.0.3 ( V10e) available for the Optimus 4X. Unfortunately LG Support has not come back with anything useful yet. Because the issue has been around for some time (affecting Android on 2.1 / 2.2 / 4.1, 4.2 ) it must be quite a challenging defect.
Is there a fix I could download? In advance, thanks for your help.

Hello,
After upgrading my SGS to froyo, I found a new setting "syncronisation" under "Wireless/Connectivity" (don't know if this is the correct translation to english).
It seems as if these settings allow you to syncronize contacts, calendar and memo to a syncml server (e.g. funambol).
I tried it with my own funambol server, but it gives me an error upon connection?
Can someone confirm that these settings could be used to sync my phone via syncml? And if so, has anybody already gotten this to work with a funambol server?
I've tried the 9.0.0 snapshot version of the android-funambol-client. In principal this works already quite well, but it doesn't allow SSL connections, which makes it kind of useless for me.
Cheers,
MrFoxy
Hi guys,
Shoot me if this particular issue has shown up somewhere... (couldnt find it)
I am having problems connecting to the exchange server at work. My company has a very high security standard.
They have you digitally agree to usage conditions, and then have to activate you somewhere on a firewall...
They are using WOSH (whatever that is) ?
Now officially they said it would be only for rotten Apple phones. However i was told in confidence by enterprise application support it would work on any phone having exchange capabilties.
I have tried several programs: k9, touchdown, and now that standard android one.
In the guide to set it up for apple the information to enter is almost the same:
I now try with settings/accounts/add acount
email adress:
[email protected]
password:
Abcd1234
Next it fails and continues with:
domain/username
servercorp/firstletterlastname (1st letter of your first name + 7 of your last name)
password:
Abcd1234
Server:
wosh.server.com
Then there are options for using SSL
Use secured SSL connection
Accept all SSL certificates
here it mentions some ID: androidc2398921038
Client Certificate
This is how far I get, the guide continues with having to set a PIN after succesfull connection.... ?
I tried many permentations, in all cases I get "could not connect to server", i checked the server (wosh.server.com) it does resolve but does not allow ping.
Particulars / questions:
In the guide from work it does not mention SSL settings (and I tried with and without). In the guide there is a seperate field for Domain. The domain/username field shows up like that but in the prefilled example it show the slash backward instead of forward (\ vs /) I tried both to no avail.
Is there something specific to how apple phones identify themselves ? Can I mimmick that ? Could it be that kind off ID ?
Since they are so security sensitive could it be i need a client certifcate (it is not mentioned in the guide) ?
Are there any tests (telnet ?) i can do to find out the correct settings/changes ?
It is alot, I know, hope someone has an idea ?

So which client are you using now? This one?
If so format under Manual setup is:
domain\loginid
account pw
server.domain.ext
Use SSL
Accept All SSL
The ASOP client linked above supports (and ignores) most Exchange Policies.
If that doesn't work it's server related, it may pay to check in one of these threads but I don't know if they'll help with server issues:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655649

Success.
yup using that one,
checking the other threads you posted..
hmmm,
In this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12005679&postcount=49
you post some code aswell, do i need to use that to install the email.apk ? i just copied to sd and installed from there...
For starters I would like the policies implemented, scary i know, but at least I will adhere to company policies
Is there a way to check the device ID ? seems like different apps send different device IDs

Yes, it needs to run from /system/app/ so you'll need to follow the instructions on that page or use Root Explorer to drop it in there.
If you want one with Exchange Policies implemented you'll need to get a stock Froyo one from a custom rom somewhere (my Nexus ROM has it, see sig but make sure you get the CM6/Froyo version).
Not sure about device ID.
well I put the app on system app, using the sdk, seems fine only still not possible to use the exchange server....

I think you'll need to check with your server admin sorry.
NP thanks for the help, also tried the stock one from your sig (not the gingerbread one) same result unfortunately...
Has anyone managed to get Excange Server to work?
I get it to work the first ½ hour (mail appears quickly, but calender and contacts takes quite some time to load).
Now the issues:
- After about ½ hour it cannot sync anymore unless removing and reinstalling Exchange Server. What is the trick?
- I do not get to understand why all my contacts disapear if I remove Exchange Server. Any way to have them saved?
- I cannot edit my appointments, only add alarms. Perhaps another calender program?
- Can the different calenders (google, outlook and LG PC sync) be merged
Phone just hard reset and only Exchange Server activated. Without the Exchange Server I do not want to keep the phone. At the same time it works fine on my Wildfire (from where I comy the settings) and on my Touch Diamond.

Hi all!
I was wondering if many people are using Exchange accounts on Note's generic mail application.
If so, do you have any problems?
For me one account works just fine (free windowslive account - yes it has exchange! you can sync calendar and contacts), but another wont.
It cant sync anything (showing cant connect to the server error), I can only see folder structure on my account..
I guess most of you are using gmail, but I don't like google. haha yea i hate google and just bought an android phone
Hi,
Since flashing LA4 I can't get it to connect to a MS Live address, I can however connect to my work Exchange 2010 server!? This was not an issue previously, but | flashed a LA4 ROM on Saturday and have been unable to connect since.
How did you get on?
Dan.

I am slightly confused. Are you trying to use them at the same time? What version of exchange are you trying to connect to that has problems? Does it use a third party certificate or a self-generated certificate (which would have to be installed on your device). While I have connected to Exchange 2010 with no problem I am currently using Touchdown instead of the built-in app, but only because I like the way it handles deletes. The built-in app worked flawlessly.
I use both mail clients quite a bit..
Both worth quite well. (though I find the in built exchange mail app to be clunky and crappy, am seriously considering forking out for a high priced market place app to replace it, though I'll wait and see what the ICS version is like first)
i'm using touchdown app for my office exchange email
I find Enhanced Email works best for Exchange and all other emails.

I'am using LA3 ROM, my previous was KKA.. MSLive worked fine on KKA and is working well on LA3. The other Exchange account is not working on LA3, never tried to set it up on previous KKA...

Yes I'm trying to set up two Exchange accounts to work at the same time.. But I have also tried to set it up (the problematic one) on wiped phone - with no success..
I do not know what version of Exchange it is.
As soon as i find free trial version of Enhanced Email i will try it.
Yes, I use 2 exchange accounts, one is with my work Exchange 2010 server with a proper certificate installed, this one works. The other is a MS Live @ Edu account which worked previously on LA3 and below. I have tried removing the device from the options on my web login for mobile devices.
I have also done a full data wipe on the device including cache and dalvik and freshly booted and tried to add this account and it consistently won't work. What I HAVE noticed though is that I now have to agree to a Samsung message where it tells me that a unique code will be assigned and certain portions of my usage will be reported back to them (or words to this effect)
I can connect flawlessly to my work Exchange account though. I can also connect just fine on my old Dell Streak (with Gingerbread 2.3.3) to this problematic account.
When I get a chance I will flash back to LA3 or an older KK build and try again, it's just a pain to re-install all my apps and settings. Given everything else is great. I have just worked around it for now by forwarding my mail to the other account.
Hi guys, I too have this problem, I can't managed to login into my exchange, using LA3 rom
ok so search isn't working for me atm..
has anyone had issues with exchange activesync with the native mail client?
more specifically, i've been trying to setup Lotus Traveler manually by using [mycompanyhost].com/servlet/traveler
but it's not working.
on the other hand setup was a breeze on my Nexus 7 with seemingly (only looks-wise i'm sure) the exact same native mail client using the same settings.
if not the native mail client, then...I don't see any free alternatives on the playstore.
p.s. there's no way i'm using the official traveler client lol
thanks

I've got the Traveler ported on my phone. I don't understand exactly what's your problem. You couldn't install the Traveler or configure it? And what is the role of the activesync in this story? Maybe I could help you if you're more specific.

hi piskr
well i'm trying to avoid the Traveler client actually since it hits the battery life pretty hard
instead i'm looking to use the native Email client on the Razr i to setup a Traveler account by way of exchange/activesync
this is done by using the manual method of setting up Traveler where you enter your username and password and server yourself rather than say letting the Traveler client do it for you
but this method fails with the Email client every time saying it couldn't connect to the server
i just think this this is not normal behaviour since it works perfectly fine on a lot of my other devices e,g, most recently, my Nexus 7, where I attempted the exact same setup only minutes after the moto failing.
so I'm just wondering if anyone's run into this or know a workaround even.
K-9 mail only does webdav
and it seems most other activesync-capable mail clients on the store are paid apps
things ive tried:
clearing Email's data and cache
adding the account via Settings instead of Email's wizard (same thing really)
making sure Data sync is on when I do all this
Traveler manual setup:
Server field: [companyhost].com/servlet/traveler (dependent on your server settings)

Hi,
I must say that I've never succeded to establish LN client as a normal email client though I tried with my previous phones (Defy, Defy+). But I constantly use the Traveler client for email and calendar. I never have such experience regarding battery drain. On the contrary: comparing my battery use with others published here I'm far above average. I don't use bloatware, heavy wallpapers and don't play games though. But I use a lot of productive software (3 navigation systems, voip, 2 mails, cameras, tv client...)

then i take it you don't use push, but instead sync periodically?
My experience with the native android email client isn't good as well. It eats a lot of my battery.
To be honest: For connecting a company client I would suggest to take a look at the app TouchDown.
It is not cheap but from my experience it's the best client I ever used and it could replace Lotus Traveler as you can read here: alternative Lotus Traveler clientandroid/
You can try this app before purchasing it.

No, I use the mail as a push. I even receive mail on phone before it arrives to computer client. Mails are truncated though and I expand only those I want. Calendar synchronizes every 10 minutes. But look please at my consuption. In the time it was measured I read 2 mails. I advise you to give the Traveler a try again. Then monitor the consumption and find out whether is the Traveler really the one which drains the battery or is it something else?

No, I've tried the native email with MS Exchange accounts.
Hi,
I'm an IBM Domino administrator.
I'm using the native email client with my traveler server but results are not the same depending of devices.
I'm using a Nexus 4 (Stock rom, non rooted) and it's working well :
For login I'm using the Lotus ShortName
Password= internet password
server= myserver.mycompany.com/servlet/traveler
Port 443
SSL Options : Accept all certificates
If it still not working for you, please tell me the Traveler server version ( Im using latest one : 9.0.1 If3 )
The problem with native email client is if your server require validation for your device, then admin profile cannot be installed before your admin has validated your device.

Has anyone else had an issue when trying to add an imap account on lollipop? I'm unable to add my two imap accounts to either of my nexus 6 or 9. I fails with handshake failed...basically can't connect. Worked fine on my Moto X 2014 and Droid Turbo.
Which app. Gmail?
I've tried several but mostly Gmail and Aqua Mail. Both fail with same error. I've read elsewhere that some people have issues with Exchange mail. Not sure if the Nexus/lollipop is blocking ports or whatever. Seems like it.
Exchange on Office 365 and Server 2010 works for me.
Also IMAP.

For imap are you using SSL/TLS ( accept all certificates) port 993? It fails instantly with this but works on KitKat. If I try the other protocols it at least take some time verifying before failing, but failing is expected with those settings.

I'm just using SSL/TLS, port 443 for both my exchange server and Office365, and it works with no issues. Of course, your server may be setup differently, so this may not help. Does your server have a self-signed certificate? Maybe the issue isn't with IMAP, but trust issues with the Certificate Authority? (Neither of the certificates I'm dealing with are self-signed.)
I'm not sure how my work configs their servers but this exact setup works on my moto x and turbo. The speed at which it fails making a connection makes it seem like something on the phone is blocking the attempt. I'll try some other apps from the Play store and see if I have any better luck.
Update:
Just tried using cloud magic from the Play Store. It works but I don't trust this app with my credentials. I suspect it connects to the servers in a different way than native email apps on the Nexus. It also uses ssl and 993. For now I have no other choice but to use it.
