[Fixed][Galaxy Tab 8.9][P7300]Stuck at system.img.md5 - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Good morning to you all
I was to make this thread as a last resort to my current problem with my P7300.. I got this device just this week and it has pre installed Honeycomb OS.. I researched and it already has an official update for ICS so I searched the sammobile website and found the firmware needed.. I am not new to Odin since I have been using it for my S5360 many many times before I decided to stick with Hyperion ROM.. I already downloaded the P7300 ICS firmware for my region and Odin 1.85.. Tried flashing it but was stuck at system.img.md5 for hours.. Tried it 3 times already.. Downloaded another ICS firmware from another region, Austria in particular but still the same results, stuck at system.img.md5.. I tried Odin3 v3.07 also has the same results but this time it shows the error message why it fails flashing.. Already tried 3 ICS firmwares..
Tried rebooting but it says Firmware Upgrade Failed.. Tried going to stock recovery to do hard factory reset, rebooted and stuck with Samsung Logo
Please if anybody has the same problem as mine before just reply to this thread.. It is really appreciated.. Please help
PS
I already searched about this problem in google and only one result did actually show but the problem with that is it is not informative on how it was fixed.. Please help.. Anyone?

I've found the 8.9 to be very sensitive to the usb ports. Try different ports and also a different computer if you can. It works on one of my computers and not the other.
Ps I'd stick with Odin 1.85 not the version you're using. I've never had success with ver 3
Pps. Search Odin stuck on system.img.md5. Someone else had the same problem and solved it.

+1 for trying a new usb port or computer.
Also, you can try flashing clockwork mod recovery 6.0.0.8 via odin, and then installing new roms from there.

Thanks for the reply sir.. I will try what you have adviced.. I used only one port in my laptop in all those attempts.. Thank you..
This was the thread you were speaking of sir and I have read this one before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895924
Apparently one problem there was the port thing.. Thanks for bringing that up.. Was worked out on how to fix this tablet..

Sir
I followed your advice about using different ports and guess what it was successful!!! 2nd port was unsuccessful, tried the third last port in my laptop and boom it got passed the system.img.md5!!!
THANK YOU SIR jd1629!!! I pressed thanks button!!! If only there was a way the button can be pressed many times, I would have done so!!! Again thank you so much! :good::good::good: :salute:

You're welcome. Glad it worked for you.

[q] downloading do not turn off target

HELP HELP HELP -- I recently plugged my phone into my com to transfer music. samsung kies then started up and told me i needed a firmware upgrade. I proceeded to upgrade and mid upgrade i received an on screen message that my device wasn't recognised and the upgrade was auto cancelled. I now have a message with bright yellow/green trianle that says "do not turn off target". I have reinstalled kies - no luck. knocked phone on and off -no luck. i'm at a loss with what to do with the phone now !! phone not even being recognised by com or kies. Can anyone help please??? many many thanks in advance... thanks. ian.
Seems that you're new to that, so let me explain: if you see the yellow triangle with the android, you're in download mode. Normally, you access it by pressing power+home+vol down buttons while screen is off. As long as you can access download mode, your device isn't bricked. Now that you can't access anything else than download mode, you have to flash a new firmware with Odin. I recommend you to search for the JW4 firmware here in general section. There you should find help on how to flash it(best is Faryaab's thread).
maybe you can try and do a hard reset and flash a ROM from yr SD card..reboot in recoverymode..if the phone does not reboot..try and run the rooting program, might work. But most likely you'll have to reinstall the firmware...

Yep, I don't think that he has rooted, so flashing a ROM won't work.
hmmm....i get it..best thing to do i think, when it's up and running again..DoOMlords easy rooting kit worked fine for me.No problem getting it to work and you've got more options to fix any problem..good luck to the poster anyway xx

I don't really think that he rooted his phone ever before, so I don't think that he needs root now... but if he wants to try it out, CF-root or DoOMlords rooting kit are the right choises.

Tried updating to ICS through KIES. Update failed

Hello guys.
I really need some help. Im going away for 2 weeks on 4 June. And after i come back ill be ghone after 2 days again for 2 weeks and i need my phone!
My story:
I saw an update for my phone to ICS. So i plugged on my laptop and put the update on with KIES 2.1.3.
At about 64% the update didnt go ferther and it gave an error report.
The program KIES shut down, and my phone turned off.
I putted everything back on. But now my phone says this:
''Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES & try again.''
KIES doesnt see my phone anymore. And the recovery mode i found on the internet.
Volume button up, home button+ power button doesnt work.
It keeps going to this screen.
My phone was 2.3.6 standard, non rooted etc etc.
How can i fix this fast?
I tried rooting and flashing, but i just cant do anything with my phone exept this screen i explained.
Thanks in advance.
Mitchell

Just download ODIN app for Windows, get right stock firmware from development thread ( Dr. Ketan's post ) and flash it with ODIN. It's as simple as clicking select file and start. Everything is described in the thread with firmware downloads.
Yes. Then there is hope. Now I recommend you to try flashing one of the stock roms from dr.ketans thread in development section.
Its not very complicated. But feel free to ask if you need more help.
I just cant explain how happy i am with this forum.
Brings so much luck into live
Thanks.
Ill see if i need more help. Hopefully not.
Is there any dutch ICS rom?
Or should i stick with a basic english?
I got exactly the same problem. Called T-Mobile's helpdesk. With everything I asked, the girl said, it's in the manual. Finally, the best she had to offer was for me to send my Note to Samsung.
So then I started looking for a solution myself and found it here.
Solved it with the said solution. Flashing with Odin is a piece of cake. Thanks for the expertise folks.
Good thing we can help. Wouldnt call myself an expert though

Well i searched for hours to. My sister had her S2 upgraded with KIES. That worked, but the ICS update itself was plain suck.
I fixed it thanks to XDA forum. Nothing found on the internet exept sending to help desk.
Same with what i got now.
But now it is fixed and im thankfull to the ones helping.
Now i am willing to try ICS without KIES.
Lol in kies you have recovery mode you missed an option
Good thing you got it fixed

BTW, after getting my Note up and running again, I used KIES again for updating to ICS and this time I had no problem at all.

For me this didnt work. KIES had an upgrade, but seems like it still doesnt do the job right.
Ran some tests. Now i am back at the issue.
Now Odin doesnt want to continue updating like KIES always does.
I wish i didnt do the tests...

Now ODIN is stuck at syaing ''BOOT'' above ID:COM.
How can i fix this?
Well seems like the Dutch roms aint working.
I did an European right now wich worked.

the biggest problem on my situation is I cannot boot android to check usb debugging
i dont think it is important if you flash the kernel mentioned at the link
I had the same troubles on windows 7. odin stops randomly when downgrading from ICS. Tried it on a different pc with Windows xp en that works for me. Also you can try a shorter usb cable. it has something to do with usb communication.

tried that too stuck at the exact same point. I guess I have to repartition but I cannot get root access
First thing you should do is check other threads about that around here.
If you can get it into download mode, you could give flashing with Odin a try. If it doesn't get stuck at factory.fs, then you're not superbricked.
If it does get stuck, then you have 2 more hopes:
- HOPE 1
- HOPE 2
If those don't work either...I'm afraid it's off to the Samsung Service center for a shiny new motherboard.
Best of luck to you and hope you get your Note up and running as soon as possible...

I really don't know what to say... For some people that worked, for some it didn't. At least it gave you a bit more control over your phone.
I think you should seek your answer either in that thread, or with the original poster of the thread.
Sorry I can't help you more than that as I haven't personally been through this...
Really hope you get your phone back and running as quickly as possible...
Best of luck!
What you need is a Pit file for partitioned disk.
Look for it and it will work with pc odin.

Galaxy Note totally dead

Hi ive galaxy note which has totally no life in it. No power nothing at all. I tried a rom update from GB firmware to ICS 4.04 but it crashed and rebooted. Ive tried to restore firmware but cant get phone to connect to pc. Ive tried usb jig but nothing. No download mode or recovery works. Its 7 months old so was wondering if samsung would repair it for free under warranty? Please reply and all help will be appreciated.
Tick "allow automatic updating" for all the installed apps in palystore
And then go to playstore settings>auto update apps
Edit:Sorry..replied in the wrong thread

If your phone is not rooted and binary count is 0,they will probably fix it under warrenty
Even though if your binary count is not 0,as it is unable to enter download or recovery mode, they should fix it for free
Hi and thanks for the info.

Not bricked but can't fix.

Hey all. I bought a Captivate from eBay for my niece. Worked alright for 3 days before it started rebooting by itself. Read up and installed keep captivate alive. Worked a day before getting stuck completely in a bootloop. Been trying both odin and heimdall on multiple pcs with multiple usb cords and still getting a not recognized message even though I've installed all the drivers. Now I get a recovery screen pictued below. Anyone have a fix? Thanks
UPDATE: Added Pic

Are you using the USB port in back of the computer? I would recommend try that and see if it recognizes it. I had the same problem before and that solved my problem.

Depending on what rom you've installed you may still be having driver issues. When I passed into the ICS and then JB realms the standard drivers not longer worked with my phone. I ended up having to install the galaxy nexus drivers before it would read it.
Edit: Even if what I've said above is not the case try uninstalling everything phone related that you have and start over. I know heimdall has its own drivers and they could be conflicting in there somewhere.

Yeah, and never try and use Odin and Heimdall on the same USB port; it won't work.
