[Q] franco kernal - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi
I installed franco.kernel updater from the play store and it was successful, and then i chose stable kernel and then nightly but both made the screen a dim blue ( functioning phone but brightness was very low and bluish).. An un install and a reboot and its back to normal.
Anyone have a fix for the dim blue screen or any franco kernel mods ?

I don't think our phone supported by Franco

[Q] Devil3 Kernel over Semaphore(CM9)

I had CM7-1.0 before with pawitp kernel.
Today, I flashed the latest CM9 nightly and right now am on the stock kernel.
I have the following kernels with me at the moment:
—Semaphore ICS Kernel from here
—Devil3 from here
My questions:
Which one of these Kernel will give me the best battery life and is fast at the same time?
Will I get a bootloop if I flash either of these kernels over the stock kernel which comes with the CM9 nightly?
There are both BLN and CMC kernels on this page. Which one should I be using?

1. Try it yourself, flashing kernel is about 1 minute. Both kernels are great.
2. Try it yourself, bootloop isn't yet diagnosed. Sometimes it happens sometimes not.
3. there are only 2 versions: cmc (cm colours) and vc (voodoo colours).
Also before flashing wipe cache/dalvik and clear init.d and ns tools

Hi, before you flashing a new kernel, flash first the kernel cleaning script from lipol. then you have no problems with the new kernel.
And what you think about midnight Kernel? I use this Kernel and i'm very happy with them. You have with that kernel a very good Battery life.

Used to always use kernel cleaning script lately Kernel cleaning script gives me boot loop nearly everytime.
Wipe cache, wipe dalvick, clear ns tools and clear init.d is fine.
Of the kernels you have mentioned i have found semaphore to have better battery and to be more stable unless you want to over clock. Or that is my experience anyway.

After using stock cm 9 kernel for quite a while I was curious to try out semaphore and regretted it only hours afterwards...
With Antutu Benchmark App I got 400 Points less compared to stock kernel... after some hours my phone hang up (black screen, ne wake up). Some hours later the next black screen... Finally I got back to stock kernel and I am happy again
Its very fluid and responsive, in my opinion there is really no need für a custom kernel in CM9, only if you need USB Host support and the ability to overclock...
I'm using devil3 kernel and I love it, it's just awesome. I think it's more customizable than semaphore, but a bit harder to set. Anyway, you should test by yourself both of them, remember to flash lippol's kernel cleaner before flashing a new kernel

Devil kernel is the best for me. I love all the options and speed. I over clock to 1.4GHz, use lulzactive governor with smooth UI profile and everything is tuned for performance and I still get almost 2 days on battery. Using cm9

I would suggest devil kernel, it has a very good battery live, some great features like swap or zram
And BTW: Just flash your kernels over each other, no use to flash kernel cleaning script neither wipe dalvik cache. it has nothing to do with kernels ;-)

Devil3 for me too. As well as being fast and having decent battery life, it's the only kernel that had voodoo color. Once you've found the best settings for your screen there's no going back.

Devil3 for me too. It works like a charm. :good:
I'm running CM9 stable with Semaphore 1.3 on 1.2GHz and smartassV2 governor.
Never had any problems with semaphore so i keep using it. my battery lasts for 1 day while running games for several hours, and up to 4 days, if i barely use it.
i know many people don't like benchmarks, but i thought i'd attach my quadrant-score anyways.

[Q] Backlight Notifactions dont turn off

I have this weird and interesting bug - the Backlights work properly for instance when using the menus and so on. But when it is supposed to blink (display turned off) it glows permanently. I have tried most settings available to me, ending up disabling the backlights to not drain more battery.
I have flashed various Roms (GIngerbread, MacKay 4.2, CM10.1, AOKP 4.1.2) and no matter how much I flashed and resetted the device, the problem stayed. I tried different kernel (up to Semaphore 2.6.6) as well.
What you could try is to download and install nstools from the market and there inside activate bln on the last site....or with bln pro, which is not free, it should be working too.

Thanks for the response. I tried NSTools with MacKay - no difference.
Buying BLN Pro and Semaphore solved the problem for me. Everything else did not work.
maybe they wontet it so you had to buy it

Which Mackay Kernel do you use? Because in stockkernel which is included in the rom, there is no support of BLN. Mackay has for JB separate Kernels, also for BLN:
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/kasper_h/kernels/
and here is the kernelthread from Mackkay:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842324
Edit: with semaphore it sould go....but to administate Sema, its better to use semaphore app (from the market) and not using NStools.

[Q&A] Speed up my SGS

Hey there,
I currently have my SGS running the latest official Baked 8 ROM 4.2.2 and its amazing! It's definitely my new ROM brand of choice (came from CM) Anywho lately my phone has started to lag up. The keypad needs a 0.5 second breather and things take longer to load like the lock and home screen and I was just wanting to know how I could make it faster. Would a custom kernel help?
Thanks in advance.

I recommend you to install SuperNexus2 or SlimBean ROM.
SuperNexus2 is super fast and it has Aways kernel which can be overclocked to 1.2 Mhz.
SlimBean is also great and it has semaphore kernel.
Also try build.prop tweaks :good:
Advanced task manager ..kill those pesky apps when screens off

You can try Greenify app to hibernate few applications you do not use. It'll be activated when you launch them. This saves some ram. Also use some build.prop tweaks, and some system performance tweaks

[Q] no manual brightness adjustment

ROM Tonyp build4 /kowalski kernell 100p5 (126) / new bootloader
After flashing the latest kowalski kernell 100p5 (126) from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097788) the manual brightness adjustment stopped working. I did a cache + dalvik wipe should i flash the tonyp again?
Also on the KK manager the area where where we could tune the auto brightness disappeared...
Anyone experiencing the same?
downloaded the lates from nightlies
yes you gotta download it from nightlies folder, 100p5 had problems with brightness.

[Q] Optimus 4x gets stuck when turning on the screen.

My current optmus 4x is running cyanogenmod 11 09-23 with mourta kernal aug 24th 3.1.10.
Cpu governer ABYSSPLUGV2
Min cpu 102 MHz
max 1500MHz
Sometimes when i turn on the screen , the screen doesnt turn on and the home menu back button backlight lights up for a few seconds and goes off. The only option I have is to pull out the battery and restart. This is very frustration cuz this happens 3 4 times a day. Any solutions?
Very simple, download and flash latest cm 14.11. and use his kernel. And life is great again
Edit: Don't mix mourta kernel and cm ROM. If you use mourta's kernel then use LS ROM from mourta, and if you don't want problems carefully folow threads on modaco.
