[Q] N1 stuck on the color cross screen

My N1 suddenly stuck on the color cross screen during the reboot/power on. Removal of the battery is the only cure.
Any solutions ? Thanks!
Can you boot into HBOOT, or access recovery?
What did you last do, prior to this happening?

I could get to the HBOOT screen, but could not access the recovery.
All I remember was, the N1 was in my pocket with battery low. Then I felt it vibrating. When I took the phone out, I saw the red light blinking (meaning battery low?). After I pushed the power button, the phone got rebooted by itself. Then it got stuck on the 4-color cross screen, forever...
Well, the problem was because you drained your battery too low...
Is the battery charging now?

That's what I thought. After recharging the battery, the phone still stuck on the same screen (the screen prior to the "firework" show).
Is your bootloader locked?

Define what's happening a bit more clearly. When you plug it in, does anything show up? Have you installed CWM 5.0 or 5.5?
As a last resort, try to find someone with another Vivid to try and jump-start the battery.
i plug it in and the led turns to charge for 3 sec then turns off.
the device does not turn on screen is black and the bottom 4 touch buttons react and vibrate to touch but nothing else works.

This happens on my vivid when my phone dies. Only the led will turn on for about 3sec then turn off and screen will quickly display what looks like the recovery page then shuts off and led turns on for 3sec. This cycle repeats itself for about 15min before phone will repower.
If my phone is off and I plug in the phone will power on to recovery screen. This happens even if battery is not drained. I've noticed this happen since I unlocked the bootloader and rooted.
Once when my battery died I plugged in and it booted to recovery screen. I decided to leave it while I showered. When I returned to my phne the screen was off. I tried powering on and nothing. I tried to power to h-boot and nothing. I held the volume down and power button down for almost 5min before my phone would reboot.
Not too sure what's going on...I just make a point to not let my phone die...kinda scary.

Wait, recovery or bootloader? If it's going into CWM, then it is perfectly fine, as CWM 5.0 does NOT support chargemode, so once it has enough power, it'll just stay in CWM while still charging.
If you do have CWM and that isn't happening, then your charger is probably faulty. Don't really know what else to say, as I'm only talking from personal experience.

I do have cwm so I guess its the bootloader. It's the black screen with blue text where you can flash Rom, backup/restore Rom, clear dalvik cache etc...
I'm new to Android, been on iOS since it came out, so I'm still trying to figure out everything and getting familiar with terminology. New to being involved in forums too, so sorry for my ignorance.

I suppose I need to make a .zip people can flash if they're stuck in 5.0 clockwork so they can charge their phones if they get stuck in clockwork.
Should I ?

Is the phone charging while in recovery even though the led charge light is not on. Thanks in advance.

Good question... CWM 5.5.04 supports chargemode: It won't boot into CWM if it solely needs to charge. I'd presume that it would still charge, but I'm not entirely certain.
i coult not get into recovery at all.
but get this, i spent all morning trying to get this thing to turn on, tried everything.i finally decided to take it to rogers and see if a new battery would fix it up. as i was leaving out the door i just tried to push the power button one last time, the dang thing finally turned on.............i have no idea how the heck this fixed itself but i was glad.
i guess the raider/vivid did ot want to go back to rogers. heh
on a side note when it did turn on it had 1percent battery i ran back insidde and plugged it in right away.

EDIT: I have stopped looking for these threads. The more I look, the more I find. If the above threads don't convince you that there is a serious issue with the vivid, then adding more of the same problem will no longer help.
I have added this thread to a growing list of similar threads. Please read the other threads and see if your issues seem familiar.
From what I understand... Don't let your battery run out on this phone. Some Vivids kill batteries.
Solution? None yet.
1. Buy a new battery once a couple of months-ish, until someone figures out why some Vivids are eating batteries. YMMV
*OR*
2. You might invest in a external charger and see if that can bring the "Vivid munched" battery back to life. YMMV
I vote to thread merge the above threads if this proves to be the issue.

What to do

Hey guys my vivid is looking like is dead. It has power because I can feel it vibrating but the screen is blank. It is cracked the glass so I am hoping replacing it will fix it or is it a deeper problem?

Hopefully replacing it will fix it. If you happened to set up a VNCviewer on your phone you could check by accessing the screen from the computer, but I'm guessing that is unlikely.
Or get a mhl adapter and hook it to ur tv and see if that works .
So yes when I got home I was able to get boot loader on and I tried factory reset so it wasn't my screen I am guessing but when trying to get into recovery or trying to reboot its only on the HTC screen. This came out of nowhere so know I am a Little lost. What could of happened?

if your bootloader is still locked run the stock ruu file and it will put you on a stock Rom and fix any errors

I don't think its charging and yes I am unlocked with the toolkit so I will try relocking I guess see if it does the trick. Really at a loss as t what happen. Last thing I remember was talking g a picture of the sunset at the beach and then to having a dead phone

big scare you guys the phone powered up and turned on by itself now. I am guessing it has something to do with the screen so I am not going to mess with it until I exchange it. Hopefully this week thanks for the help
Seems like I spoke to soon its happening again. I am getting a power light but no boot up. The home keys will vibrate but the screen stays blank. I am know wondering whether it's the screen or the battery or maybe both..... One thing I do see when I am able to boot up to bootloader is that its telling me the battery has low voltage. Could that mean there is not enough voltage going to the phone from the battery.

weird battery prob. Phone wont boot

Last night, I let my phone battery drain all the way down because I couldn't charge it at work. I figured I'd just plug it in when I got home. When I get home, it goes onto that blank battery charging screen with the orange LED flashing but when i try to boot it, it just goes back to that, i let it sit for a while then tried again with no luck. i let it sit over night and it would still just boot into that screen. i put it into bootloader mode and hit reboot from there and it would just go back to that screen again, I can get it into recovery and it will stay there for a while (on the charger) but it doesn't show they amount of battery like twrp usually does. basically, the phones acting like there isnt a battery in there at all. Please help because I have tried everything i can think of.

Bootloop, loops from bootloader too!

Ok so I recently got the M8 so I gave my M7 to my girls mother. She had it a day says she placed on charge over night and it was looping in the morning.
I had the phone for a year unlocked via HTC dev, s off , super cid...flashed many Roms all the time never an issue. I been rooting and flashing since the mytouch days. The Rom that I had on it for her was ARHD...I have had bootloops before but never has it looped for the boot loader. Any idea on how I might be able to fix this. I have searched for 45 mins with no fix found.

You know I'm able to just hold the down vol button and it reboots into boot loader. So I guess the power button is stuck. Even tho I can feel it moving up and down when I press it
