After posting on Sony's website and didn't get a reply...
1. I can't send/receive files through file explorer via WiFi Direct, just like how I did on my Galaxy Tab :/
I am unable to use WiFi direct to send or receive files, just like my friends who are using Galaxy S3 Then... what's the point of having WiFi direct?
2. When I went to settings>display>brightness and i ticked "adapt to lighting conditions"
the brightness of the screen doesn't change even if I turn off the light in my room and when I turn on the lights Initially, I thought there wasn't any light sensor for my Xperia V, which I think was impossible. So I went to check out the Xperia V's White Paper-> http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/lt25i/whitepaper_EN_lt25i_xperia_v.pdf
and I read till "** There is no API for the light sensor" on page 6. Does that means, the light sensor won't be working? :/ Even if I want to use some sensor apps found on the market, most of the apps, can't detect my phone has a light sensor
when I use app to detect the "lux" of the lighting, the app will say "no sensor" detected
bump for the day

Hello. I updated my T to JellyBean two days ago. I turned auto-brightness off because I thought Sony changed something and it's was working differently - the screen was always as black as possible just like there was no light around me. I just checked Service Menu and Ambient Light Sensor data. Result? Constant "0" value wherever I am - in dark room or outside at direct sun. Do you have the same problem too? Maybe JellyBean breaks ALS for now?

Mine says 0 as well, but i have no problem with the display, auto brightness works.
Are you saying auto brightness is broken on your phone?
Odp: [Help] Broken ALS on JellyBean?
Ummm yes. My bad I should have described it better. Yes I think it's broken, because ALS always shows "0" so the screen dims to the minimal value and it's totally ureadable outside with auto brightness turned on. When it's turned off it's ok, no problems at all.
I had no problems on ICS, auto brightness was always turned on and screen brightness was always set to the value where on the brightness widget that sun icon is "off" so it could adjust itself. And I had no problems in dark rooms where the screen was "correctly" dark and outside where it was very bright. Without manual messing with the brightness.

ok,
does yur screen change brightnes when you turn auto brightness off in settings?
Odp: [Help] Broken ALS on JellyBean?
I have it turned off now I couldn't use the phone because screen was too dark.
But yes, the brightness changes:
Turning AB on = brightness does not change at all. After turning screen off and on brightness drops to the minimum like I was in a dark room.
Turning AB off = brightness gets back to normal just like it's set.

Same for me, auto brightness act strange on my device too. When I thick "adjust brightness" sometimes nothing happends, not every time but it's not normal...
I'm just wondering, on ICS/JB, under brightness, mine had 'Adapt to lighting conditions' but I was still able to adjust the brightness :/
Does yours say auto brightness or adapt to lighting conditions?

Adapt to lighting condition/auto-brightness... In Polish it's "Dostosuj do oświetlenia" so in English it's "Adapt to lighting conditions" but commonly it's just called auto-brightness. I think it does not matter, we all know what's going on
Simply said - the tick option above the bar which you can adjust...
Constant "0" value read by ALS makes my phones screen always dark with auto-brightness on. Period On ICS there were no problems because ALS was working correctly.
EDIT:
I'll try to record a video and post it on youtube to show you my problem.

Same here...auto brightnes act strange on my device with JB.

Thread can be closed - problem solved. I did a total wipe (formatting every partition except the ones connected with sdcards) in CWM and reflashed the FW. Then, after booting the device I did not check the option with restoring my saved data (Wi-Fi passwords, Settings settings etc.). The problem is gone but still auto brightness works so different when compared to the ICS one.

My phone does show ALS value of 0 as well.. but auto brightness seems to work..
ALS value = 0 for me too!
Brightness increases but not decreases until the screen goes off...
I got back to ICS and ALS works fine!

Yeah you are right. I can revive the thread somehow for any other people here. Also for me because auto brighness does not work again
But I don't care. I use manual brightness for a very long time and I got used to it. No annoying screen flickering and any other stuff
Autobrightness works, but a little different way than on ICS. ALS looks like it's off, but als_results file gives different results in different light conditions and the screen brightness really changes.
But sometimes the sensor stops working for some reason and you have to reboot to repair it. This happened to me between 2 or 3 reboots after fresh install of rom and now it's fine. (maybe a problem with illumination service).
But don't forget that the screen brightness is affected by thermal throttling and values from factory are very low. I think about 50% brightness at about 45°C xo_therm temperature.
I prefer ICS way...
it also happens in Xperia V JB ..
I remember in 4.2.2 release note, SONY committed LED notification issue resolved and LED would also work in Stamina Mode in 4.2.2.
The thing is it's only partially working after my testing. In Stamina Mode of 4.2.2, SONY just gives LED White light ONLY and Fixed frequency ONLY under Stamina, all your customerized light&frequency would not working under Stamina mode.
Example, If you set missed call with Red color & High frequency shining, when your screen is on, then LED goes like that way, once your screen off and the phone falls into Stamina mode, LED would only show White color with a slow&fixed frequency.
I'm not sure whether you encounter the same issue? I'm stock 4.2.2 Hong Kong Rom.
Any one else find a way around this?
Some people say disable backing up the Google account and reset the phone (I can't imagine what that has to do with an LED). Others say turn off stamina mode - this gets my LED working again, but I like to use stamina mode.

Did you try installing the Light Flow app from store?
Thanks, unfortunately Light Flow doesn't work on my phone. I have tried every setting. I chatted to Sony about this and they said that Stamina mode is directed to turn off LEDs but from customer feedback, they will change this in future software updates for phones.

I did try and I use Light Flow indeed, it's not working, SONY forbids 3rd LED control when L36h falls into Stamina Mode, it gives White Light&Fixed Frequency only.
Same here, shows only white LED for notifications but changes to appropriate color when screen is unlocked :-/

I see the exact same thing: tested with Whatsapp, color Green: in stamina mode with whatsapp as exception entered. Upon pressing the power button to light up the screen // go to unlock page, it turns green.
I asked Sony this in their chatroom, they said Stamina mode is responsible and it's designed to do that. They said that given the strong feedback that consumers don't like it, that it would be changed in future updates...that's all I got.
Ok I am just gonna come out and say it...my LED notifications work normally, show all the correct colours and such,,,even with Stamina mode turned on...I haven't touched anything. I'm on 244.
Sometimes, when I plug my phone to charge with stamina on, indicator doesn't turn on until I wake screen up.
I had same issue with whatsapp, but after I put it in Stamina apps list, it receives notifications and LED works (using blue for whatsapp)

There is an option in the settings , monitor , smart backlight control , with which , when is on , as say , can keep the screen on all the time you keep the phone on your hand , looking a photo for example , without touching the screen .
I set it to on but it's not work for me .
The screen goes off in the 1 minute limit I have set . But that shouldn't happen when smart backlight control is on .
What happen in yours phones?
The same here, this option doesn't work in my phone. Screen still switches off in my hand.
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
Works for me ... it seems to use the accelerometer, so as long as some small amount of motion in my hand is detected, it stays on.
I'd try the universal solution to common Xperia issues: set it, then restart the phone
Yes , if I move my hand it works .
But I try it and should move it a lot to work
I think it's not a practical solution from Sony. There where other ways to do this.
For me its practical,at the slightest move the smart backlight control activates,as for other solutions, its better then Samsung's eye detection which not works in the dark environmental(the sensor cant see your eye :cyclops:
Atleast the Samsung way works. The Sony feature doesnt work in light and dark conditions. It should be a way of both to keep the screen on. In light conditions it should be the camera. And in the dark the accelometer. Now it doesn't work at all.

Try Screebl. It's the best way to keep the screen on from all solutions I've tried (and I have owned a Samsung Galaxy S3 with eye detection and now a Sony Z3 with Smart backlight control)
Hello,
Anyone knows why the proximity sensor turns on when data is used (the arrows near Wi-Fi turn on) and turns off when the data stops being used?
Maybe a software bug? I'm using stock 7.1.1 with no root.

The arrows are your network activity, they just show when data is being sent or received.
Yeah, I know that. Sorry for my bad English, but you don't understand want I want
When data is being sent or received I can see the proximity sensor working (a red light pulsing near notification led). When the arrows go away (the data stop being used), the proximity sensor also stops.
Also I have adaptative brightness turned on.

Sorry I misunderstood you buddy, I have had this phone for 10 months and have never noticed it until now :silly:. There's no setting available to edit the proximity sensor so I guess we are stuck with it. Thanks for pointing it out. :good:
