[Q] Fuel Guage Firmware Version Xperia T - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hello,
Can someone help me, because I have a question. It's in Servicemenu,Softwareinfo, Fual Guage Firmware Version: My Phone Doesn`t Support Firmware Version Read, see thumbnail. What does this mean?
The phone is rooted with locked bootloader(7.0.A.3.223).
I also have an Xperia S and an Xperia Arc both rooted with locked bootloaders
and they have numbers under fuel guage firmware version
Is this a problem for the Xperia T and can I change this?
Or can I leave this way?
Thanks in advance.

I've got the same thing on my TL running CE 223.
The phone seems to be unaffected and battery percentage drains like it should.
It's not the same as the LT15 (Arc) broken fuel gauge after downgrading firmware.
Anyone else seeing this under fuel gauge after using flashtool?

Yes, I have that too. Running TiMiN8R's [STOCK][7.0.A.3.223][T]Rooted & Deodexed[17/12/12] .

Looking at my service menu, my xT On xperimenT does have the same "doesn't support... Blah" but i don't really know qhat that means although my battery behaves normally drains really fast when playing and the phone geta really hot, but as i say i think that's normal isn't it?

Yes, that is normal behavior.

Battery Drain??

Im having what i think it is a case of battery drain, even with my phone in standby (Data on, WIFI off) according to current widget its using about 100mA (or more!!!) all the time, current widget is not good for the Vivid?? Because on my previous HTC phones (HD2 and Inspire 4G) the readings were 10mA or less!!! Its like im using the phone even when it is on stand by, is this is normal?? my phone just goes through the battery even when im not using it , to be clear, values in current widget are high, but they do match the battery usage im getting though.
Just installed this Kernel to see if it helps, but its still the same

Im on Stock ATT ICS 4.03 (Rooted).

What kind of apps do you have running? Also cw didn't work right for me either when I tried it said the same about 100 even though I didn't have that bad of battery drain
I would suggest flashing a new Rom ...wcx illuminati has a excellent stock Rom that has kickass battery life

download RUU from HTC site.. had the same problem and that fixed it
Thanks for the replies guys, im going to try flashing the ROM directly from HTC site and post the results.
Downloaded the RUU from HTC but i got an error trying yo upgrade, on the bootloader screen says:
RUU
Security fail!
Update Fail!
Any ideas? the phone has the bootloader unlocked S-ON, i got the phone used, but this means i could flash a ROM through recovery/hboot??

You have to relock the bootloader to pass the security check to install the RUU. Check the superguide.
Check your logcat output and see if you are getting a chunk of log about thermald.
If you do, you can drastically improve your battery life by renaming /system/bin/thremald to /system/bin/thermald_backup (or anything else, just as long as the fine is named different so the system can't start it).
This change DRASTICALLY improved my battery life.
I jumped to a custom ROM after the RUU fiasco, installed this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721270
Same condition, while using the phone the usage seems to be within reasonable numbers peaking at 500mA or less, still high, just not that high, standby is still using too much, 99% of the time above 100mA, like i said before, this phone should report a number around 10mA like my old Inspire 4G??
@ess.boyer: Where is logcat located so i can check it?? i have a file named thermald_dis under system, is this file the one to be renamed?? do i need to reboot it after the change?
EDIT: Found it, installed a tool to view the logcat, but no thermald reported, i will change the name of the file/reboot to see if it helps a bit and report back.

Did it work .? Try either wcxs Rom or holics Rom their great on battery life.. its also posibble you have a faulty battery
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
I have the same issue. Do you by chance live in an area with weak/in and out service? I live smack dab in between a triangle of no service/HSPA/edge and it murders my battery. But anywhere with full service I get great battery...

[5.0.2] [Lag/Heat/Battery - Problems] How to fix those Problems?

Hello together I have startet this Thread in the ZL Forum as well but there are way more Z Users than ZL So maybe you guys can help me too? first my specs:
Model: Sony Xperia ZL C6503
Android 5.0.2
Build: 10.6.A.0.454
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-g8fa3dae [email protected] #1 <- Vanilla Kernel I beliefe
Root: Yes with kingroot following this HowTo Link I now got SUperSU 2.46 installed
Bootloader: Locked - I didnt unlock it and I think the rooting didnt unlock it either
Apps: ~95
I have the following problems:
1. Ever since 4.4.4 my Sony ZL is somewhat laggy. With 4.4.2 I had a really smooth experience but since 4.4.4 its been a dirt road. I am happy that Sony still brings us the newest updates with Andorid 5.0.2 and soon 5.1 but I hate that my user experience drasticly decreased. Not only do games lag since Lolipop, now the UI interface is lagy and my browsers (Dolphin with Jetpack) lags. Its just a big **** up! Its not smooth anymore and it doesnt make fun to wait several seconds (3-5) before apps open or close. I have no longer any task killer, with my last it felt to decrase performance instead of increase.
2. I have a heat issue with the phone somtime it gets really hot really fast.
3. Battery doesn't hold a whole day anymore. Could be casue the phone is 2 years old already but sometimes I have really bad battery life. If I turn on GPS I can forget to use my phone cause battery dies within 3 hours and apps just collapse under the heat.
I have Stammina tunred on and @30% Low Battery kicks in. @15% Battery saver tunrs on.
Battery drops from 12% -> 0% and turns off phone. Sometimes I get to 8% and then 0%
I would like to fix those issues and I need your help and advise. Yesterday I was almost to the point where I threw my ZL out of the window but I decided to give it a last chance with some help of the XDA community. So for my phone you are the last chance otherwise I will throw it out.
My Problem: I dont really want to completly start fresh and install all apps and configure everything again. I have Titanium Backup insallted (but I dont really know how to use it). If I have to completly start fresh I will probably get a new device casue there I will have to do the same legwork anyway. Only if money is thight next month I will stay with the ZL and do it all over again.
So can you guys help me to fix my problems? My biggest problem is the lag issue. I can life with the allright battery life and the heat issue but the lag drives me insane.
Edit:
In the past I already tried to root my phone while I had 4.4.4 but at the time there was no root available yet and some tasks failed. Not sure if that had any impact.

You could try to change the gouvenor of your CPU. I use interactive. It saves battery and the phone doesn't heats up so much (its still really hot sometimes). You Phone also becomes more efficient, because it only clocks fast if you need the power. You can do that with the PACPerformance Application or Antutu CPU Master as example.
If the interactive gouvenor doesn't helps, you can still try performance, this will give more power to your applications, but degreases battery life.
The heat comes from the old Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor that needs to clock most times at the maximum clock speed and it has no real thermal throttling. One time my Phone was at 100°C. Then the Android Operating System started to shut down the phone. The screen also started flickering.
After you got the 5.0.2 Update your Phone should feel much smoother.
maybe can with lollipop 5.1.1
Hi I will try that! Thx for the answer.

That actually depends on your usage. Since you are on stock, your battery should be awesome, but weird that it isn't (especially when you said that it is unrooted).
it could be that your battery has finally reached its state of dying. The way to confirm this is to try another ROM, but that is your decision
To answer to your question, it may make the issue go away.

For the sake of troubleshooting, would you like to root your ROM?
If you do, install Towelroot app on your stock (I am assuming 4.3 Jellybean) and root your device. Afterwards head to SuperSU on Google Play and install it. And proceed to updating the su binary to the latest one.
After your root setup is complete, reboot and install Wakelock Detector. Give it a root access and a refresh for the first time.
Allow your Xperia SP to drain its battery like how you would normally use it. After hours, please screenshot the content of the app and upload it here so I can inspect it
if i use my phone with something like wi-fi ,whatsapp .....etc (not heavy apps) how much time my battery must hold it?
thanks.

You might wanna give more details like what apps you got installed, your usage, your brightness level etc. Also wifi, whatsapp does drain battery. How much screen time were you getting before with the same config? How bad's the drain when the screen off? Like someone mentioned above, you could root your phone and try Wakelock Detector to see if something's constantly preventing your phone from going into deep sleep.
Also your battery could be a dud but like you mentioned you haven't had your phone for long so that probably shouldn't the issue but you might want to make sure of that before switching roms. No point rooting/unlocking your phone and flashing a new rom only to find out that the issue still persists but if you wanna try a LP rom nevertheless, you could always give it a shot.
Much like yourself, I am suffering from rather poor battery life myself but my issue is most likely a dying battery. I am telling you this cause I have tried about a dozen roms and it makes zero difference so changing roms isn't a surefire solution. I use Greenify, PowerNap, keep the brightness rather low plus use a bunch of other battery tweaks but it hardly matters. My battery drains rather quickly either way (screen on or off). Even when my phone's in deep sleep, I still get bad drain so check thoroughly before you make the switch.
Did you check which app or feature is draining more the battery?
Sometimes, doing a factory reset will solve the problem. Have you tried it? Make a backup first.

Battery drain on Lollipop 5.1.1 Build 14.6.A.1.216

Hello everyone
I recently bought a used Xperia Z1 (C6903), which came with Lollipop 5.0.2 installed (Build .270). It has a defective screen, which is going to be replaced shortly. I mostly use it with a mouse via USB. Other than that, it is perfectly fine.
On Thursday, I inserted my SIM card on the device and installed the latest build available for this device, which is 14.6.A.1.216 (Lollipop 5.1.1) via Flashtool, making sure I did a factory reset. On Friday, I rooted it using KingRoot (promptly replacing it with SuperSU) and, as I did my research first, installed Wakelock Detector to compare the battery between each Android version. On 5.0.2 battery was pretty good, maybe because the phone didn't have the SIM card inserted, but still used WiFi and had a lot of apps which were left by the previous owner (Such as Facebook and FB Messenger, which both are battery hoggers). Even then, the phone had tremendously good battery, managing to reach 3 days on a full charge (I observed that before buying it). The only problem was that the phone overheated a bit.
Now that I have installed 5.1.1, things got worse. The only good things are that the overheating problem is gone and the performance seems a bit better. However I saw that for many, the battery was way better on 5.1.1 than on 5.0.2. This isn't the case for me. The battery drops approximately 1% each 30 minutes, with the screen off. I don't have mobile data on, as I always use WiFi, so the radio active bug doesn't affect me (right?). I have disabled most, if not all useless apps or things that would keep using the phone's resources. I disabled them, not uninstalled them because the phone has a problem with root permissions, saying that system is not mounted as R/W but still giving apps root access and they can disabled apps just fine. Currently I have none of my apps installed with the exception of Wakelock Detector, thanks to the battery drain and the defective screen which prevent me from doing much. STAMINA mode is on, but I don't notice it working too well, as it doesn't turn WiFi off when the screen is off, even though that option is turned on. I cannot deliver an exact screen on time as don't use the phone that much, but it is average 3-4 hours.
Wakelock Detector tells me that the phone has been awake by 12%, even though there aren't any wakelocks nor apps that would take batery. I would have tried with BetterBatteryStats but it is a bit confusing to use for me. Most people here on this phone's XDA forum complain about the battery in Lollipop, but Kitkat has provided them very good battery life.
Is there any way to fix this? I will provide anything that is asked, such as screenshots of Wakelock Detector, etc.
Should I downgrade to 4.4.4? (Build .157 or whichever you recommend) or perhaps install a custom rom based on 4.4.4, like iHackers? I would test them myself, as it is the best way of telling the difference, but I have a very bad connection and downloading files over 1GB+ takes 5 or 6 hours, only if it doesn't disconnect automatically. The most important things for me are the performance of the phone and the battery life.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english.

Right. I will use it, thanks for the tip. As you have to downgrade to KitKat in order to install custom recoveries and the like, I already did so. And I discovered something new, which wasn't on Lollipop. KitKat's battery stats show that 39% of the phone's battery is used up by the screen, even though I barely use it and it is on the lowest brightness possible. Other than that, another culprit is the mobile signal, which shows a high usage of battery.
EDIT: I have now installed the rom and indeed, the battery problems seem to be gone. Battery isn't dropping as it did, and Wakelock Detector says that the phone is now 1-2% awake
At 1 point, 5.0.2 had a lot of battery problems and performance issues
Are u facing any on MX now ?

So far, battery has been perfect the phone easily lasts 1 day and still has 40% left. I guess that could be better, but I am satisfied with it
One thing I have noticed is that even though the ROM has much bettery battery management than the stock rom, it feels somehow slower. In developer options, the "Force GPU rendering for 2D" option is enabled. I disabled it and weirdly, the phone seems to be faster and smoother, like it was before. The opposite of this should be happening, as I've read that it instead makes the phone smoother than having it ticked off

Why did you change? I just installed mx rom now! Seems pretty good so far, but still too early to comment on the battery
There's no such issue with this update.
I'm sorry to say this, but things are now where they were before I flashed MX Rom
Three days ago the battery started draining like before, with high usage of the process "Android System", approximately 30%. The screen also has high usage, but really shouldn't as screen on time is barely one hour. I also learned how to properly use BetterBatteryStats, and it reports that the device has 100% no or unknown signal. The phone also is doing weird beep sounds around the camera area. I've factory reset the device, but it didn't do anything. In fact, it is worse now. Battery drain is approximately 3% an hour. And that is with WiFi, Mobile Data and almost everything else off. I also don't have any apps installed. The same happens with Android Kitkat. A lot of apps are also disabled.

I9295 becomes very hot and huge battery drain

Hey guys
I already posted my problem in the thread related to LineageOS, but since the issue couldn't be solved I want to try it this way.
So what is my problem?
While using my phone it gets very hot. According to Powerful Monitor the CPU gets up to 65 °C and battery up to 35 °C, while under load. Besides this my battery goes down rapidly. So watching 10 minutes of YouTube sucks up 8-9 % battery. Just a plain normal video.
What is my setup?
I9295, running LineageOS 14.1-2017-06-06-UNOFFICIAL-jactivelte, OpenGApps 06-07-17 nano, only apps installed manually are GeekBench, Powerful Monitor and YouTube. Baseband is I9295XXUDOB4 (German unbranded DBT). I bought a new original Samsung battery and currently using it. So it's basically stock LineageOS.
What have I already tried?
- flashed stock firmware (all available for Germany that are unbranded). With and without erasing NAND, with different Odin versions. Last time I flashed I used Odin 3.07
- different batteries: the old ones the phone came with (bought it used), the new one I bought separately, a new one from PowerCell with higher capacity (2900 mAh)
- different phones. I have a second I9295 from a friend, that worked definitely without any issues. Same problem.
- different custom ROMs: now I'm running LineageOS, but I also tried CM13 (20161228), CM12.1, MIUI and Super WizCyan (everything from xda)
Is it possible break something ciritcal when disassembling the phone? Both phones came with broken covers for the USB port, so I opened it, but only removed the screws and the mid-frame (?) and replaced the cover. Nothing was damaged, at least I was very carefully and didn't see anything that looked suspicious.
Another very strange thing I noticed:
If I use the phone a lot (lets say 30 minutes, so almost 25 % battery!) and after that the phone is not in use for an hour or so, the battery goes up for up to 7-8 %. How it that possible?
I really have no idea what else to do.
Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys
While using my phone it gets very hot.
I bought a new original Samsung battery and currently using it. So it's basically stock LineageOS.
Any help is appreciated.

Hey there. Well, there are tons of possible reasons why your phone acts like that. My modest opinion is that you have some sort of wakelock active in background. Install both Wakelock Detector and Gsam Battery Monitor, grant all the permissions and let it obtain data for some minutes. Than look at the results, and check if there's any Wakelock active. If instead Gsam shows an excessive consume by the kernel, try in terminal the following commands:
Code:
su
setenforce 1
setenforce 0
Then see if there's still the drain (you have to wait some minutes).
If it still doesn't work, I'd advice you to update to the latest stock firmware (doesn't matter which Country, just select a non-branded one), reinstall LOS again and verify if with nothing installed you still get the battery drain.
Anyway, IMHO it's not an hardware related problem, even messing up with the components this shouldn't happen. The only hardware fault could be the battery short-life, but 1st you said you just replaced it, 2nd it would not justify the thermal overload. Let us know
Thank you very much for your answer. I'm quite short on time next days but maybe I have a few minutes on sunday.
On the matter latest stock firmware: already tried that on monday, still too much battery drain, but I didn't install LOS till now. Maybe sunday.
But still thank you
Finally I found some time to try your suggestions
I skipped the part of trying it on the old setup, so I flashed everything new with latest stock(UDOB4-DBT, not the last one but still Android 5.0.1), then TWRP 3.1.0, after that LOS 14.1-20170606 and OpenGApps 7.1 nano from 17-06-06. Only apps I installed beside that are GSam Battery and Wakelock Detector. Root activated and granted where asked and needed.
Here I uploaded the pictures I took from GSam Battery.
So what seems strange to me:
- why is Phone Radio used at all? I don't have a SIM card inserted...?! It's on a very high level, even if the screen isn't on.
- The battery gets hot quite fast. If it's not in use, everything is fine. But as soon as I use the phone it gets hot.
- As you said: kernel usage seems quite high, tried to install "Terminal Emulator" and executed the commands - no difference.
According wakelock: where do I check that?

Sorry for the delay, but if you do not quote/reply me I cannot see the message cause I'm not extremely active on XDA. Anyway...
- Phone Radio is used even without SIM, at least in TouchWiz, dunno in LOS, but it looks like so. The only way to disable it is Airplane Mode.
- It gets hot due to kernel usage, what I still do not understand is why it does so.
- Those commands where the only commands I think could be useful in this case (they set SELinux Permissive/Enforcing)
But if you say you get the Drain on TouchWiz too, the problem is serious and there's a (little?) chanche it would be HW related.

No need to apologise, you're doing this in your free time...
Besides that, I wasn't at home all week, so I couldn't try anything even if you had answered.
So, how do I get the kernel to calm down and stop draining my battery? I mean, I didn't install anything besides clean LOS and GApps. So what could lead to so much kernel usage? Are there any further information that could help you?

I didn't read this post before, the points are two:
- No need to write Thanks, there's a button for it. It's free and very grateful
- If it drains even on stock it's a serious problem.

The situation is very weird. Let's analyze.
1) TW/LOS doesn't matter. Battery drain in both
2) No apps installed which could cause wakelocks
3) Battery SHOULDN'T be the problem
4) The drain is recognised as kernel "usage", though it couldn't be real 'cause of point 1
5) Neither Permissive nor Enforcing SELinux mods helped
At this point it doesn't look so much a SW problem, but more an HW one. About:

If I use the phone a lot (lets say 30 minutes, so almost 25 % battery!) and after that the phone is not in use for an hour or so, the battery goes up for up to 7-8 %. How it that possible?

Well, sometimes the discharge happens so fast the battery doesn't calculate the remaining capacity so well, and after some minutes the real charged cells are more than the "estimated" ones. It would explain the "goes up" of the percentage, but still not the drain.
It's very strange and very rare, but there's an infinitesimal possibility that the thermal paste went to the hell. And in this case there's not that much to do.
That's pretty pessimist though. I'd advice you to format everything, reinstall the latest stock TW and stick with it, and if it still doesn't work, try with some apps like Greenify and ForceDoze (this one works just with 6.0+) in order to at least TRY to reduce the drain.
I'm sorry I cannot help you more, if anyone has some suggestion, please let us know.

Next strange thing is, I have two S4 Active devices, both have the same problems. Am I just unlucky enough to get two broken phones?
Still, the device I got from I friend was ok the moment he gave it to me. He said battery lasted for only one day, but that would be ok. So it has to be something I did with the phone.
Youre are not alone. My Phone was/is also getting hot.
Then I did a full wipe ( format also internal memory partition!)
I'm current running cm13 (CM13 (20161228)). Batterie works now / normal ok / 1 / 2 Day s ( no great usage ). But when i telephone with someone it's getting hot in 15 min. Modem Version is I2995XXUDPB3.

Have you flashed any custom ROM? Try downloading an entire stock firmware for your country / carrier from sammobile and flash through odin 3.09 and check. The S4 active generally gets hot on usage but should not get very hot. You can also try using powersave mode that limits cpu max freq and prevents heating. Battery on normal usage shoukd last for little under a day to a day with normal usage unless you are using data (otherwise set mobile networks to GSM only which saves battery and reduces heat)

I have flashed the latest DBT (unbranded German) and I have the same problems. Does the version of Odin make a significant difference? I used 3.10.6.

Normally i have seen issues flashing through odin 3.10 and prefer 3.07 or 3.09. If the firmware flashed correctly and you do not have any issues then it should be fine.
CPU temp of 65% without powersave mode is fine and watching youtube videos does consume battery. Try a different charger / cable combination as that too can have issues. If the battery gets charged quickly (on stock kernel under 2 - 2.5 hours from 0 to 100) then there is definitely an issue with the charger and it will drain quickly too.

I tried 3.10, 3.12 and 3.07 so far. Not successfully. Tried 3.09 now, we'll see.
I have a Sony Xperia Z1C as comparison, YouTube needs maybe 1% for 5 Minutes.
Cables/Chargers shouldn't be the problem. I have the original Samsung, also cable. Charged to 0 to 75 % in 90 Minutes. Same with cable and charger from Anker. So should be fine?
So no new ideas?

I have no idea too but i have the same Trouble with mine BUT I'm still using the original Rom and didn't flash it. So maybe it is an Hardware issue.
My Battery is getting old, yes, but it is the third one. The Phone gets hotter than in its first years.
I hope you'll find a reason!
My i9295 always has been like this: 1 minute on-screen time = 1% battery loss. So this basically is a 2 hour phone... Stock or custom rom didn't matter. A friends i9505 used a lot less power, therefore I assume that the LCD (instead of the S4's AMOLED) is the problem.

Nah, why should it? There are a lot of i9295 users that don't have any problems.
