[Q] Showing software update but not updated to next version - LG Optimus Black

Sometimes ago I have flashed my phone with European Open v30b ICS firmware, then I returned to Gingerbread to Indian v20g. After flashing I have connect to PC and checked firmware update via LG mobile support tool I found software update and I start it. When finished my phone upgraded to v20h. Again I connect to PC and check firmware update and I found software update again and I start it, when finished the version is not updated to new it was same as previous v20h. Every time when I check firmware it shows Update but not updating to next version what is being wrong can any one suggest me?? :crying:

Same issue with what I am facing. It's likely a bug of the software.

In your opinion which softwares bug, Smart flash tool or LG software updater's. or firmware. Did you try via KDZ firmware updater? Now how did we know there is new software available or not? It's boring me

The LG software update tool. I used it in the past to upgrade from Froyo to Gingerbread, and it told me GB was the latest software. Until I found out about V20H for Singapore carrier, which it prompted me to update it. After updating, it kept telling me there's a new update despite V20H is the latest as of that time.

Yes, I am running v20h. When have returned to GB Manually Flashed v20g (India) via Smart Flash Tool. Then I got this update via LG Mobile Support tool. At first before upgrading to ICS I also have v20h. I don't know which software version is running on my phone Indian OR Singapore because I have bought my set in NEPAL. Anybody knows how to check Country version?

You can check C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone (mine's on Windows 8, the directory path may be different, but folder name is the same). Need to unhide the hidden files as the folder itself is hidden. When the software update is being downloaded, you will see the kdz file and the name of the image being downloaded, say V20H_00 or V30B_00, without the need to wait for an actual update to be performed by the recovery image to find out.

Yes you can copy it out, like any other normal file, but I'm not sure of the file attributes if it's hidden like the folder.

I think my phone is running Singapore version software because when have clicked "download user manual" on LG Mobile support Tools link and start downloading RDL-1111-00247_LG-P970_SEA_111230_1.2.pdf. Anybody know "SEA" means?

ensure of android platform usb modem is enabled in devices manager.
if it's not updating to a newer FW, it's simply means it's not deployed yet

I dont know how it sloved but nowadays it is not showing update

You can "downgrade" your system to Stock ROM Froyo, then you can connect it to LG Update. Is that what you want? CMIIW.
Do u have a nandriod backup?since updating from stock rom should be no problem...
reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cahce, wipe cahce partition
turn off the phone, take out the battery..download R&D test tool, windows enabler and the kdz u want to flash. start R&D test tool , press and hold the vol up button plug the usb to the phone it show that u are software update mode..select the kdz click ces web upgrade test then upgrade start...
thats the way i went back from cm7 to stock v10g
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275315
its not so risky...it was about 10-15min
On cm7 the b2c tool want recognize your phone, and the kdz will not too! JUST if you turn off your phone!
Thank u so much donjamal! That's the help I'm looking for! BTW can I just update to stock online and skip the KDZ part?
thanks

u can not do it online, cuz if u use the b2c tool it looks like it recognize your phone but if u press upgrade, there will be an error message something like this: connection error between the pc and the phone... thats the reason why u sohuld turn off your phone and use R&D test tool
and of course all the drivers needs to be installed on your pc
What I mean is immediate online update without R&D and KDZ like:
1. Boot to Recovery then wipe data, dalvik and cache partitions
2. Factory Reset
3. Online lg Official update
Is that safe?
thanks

U CAN NOT DO IT IF U ARE ON CM7!!!
b2c tool (online lg official update) doesnt recognize your phone.. (however it looks like it does when u connect your phone and start the tool. It shows there is available software update, but when u press the upgrade, ull see and error message : connection error between the pc and the phone or somethin' like this and can not continue.
U should use r&d (doesnt require hard reset...but i did to be on the safe side or kdz updater (which requires hard reset) as i mentioned above.
if it will come

Tomorrow is the suposed release date for 2.3 in UK so will see what the excuse will be for not having it.
Or we might get UK flavour Gingerbread ( doubt it)
And to answear you question Yes!
As soon as there is update there will be KDZ files for download.

Completely revert to stock without USB connection

My phone is no longer capable of making a USB connection.
Now i want to revert it to stock, i thought i did so but it turns out the stock CWM rom I installed has some mods like root and busybox.
I was wondering if it is possible to flash an older stock rom through cwm and then have the phone auto update to the newest version? I also wonder if OTA updates update the baseband?

Thats what i think will happen, I want to fully revert to stock first though and check that.
You can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617458
Thou it won't be a clean stock and you probably need the stock kernel for your region to be inside or it can be seen.
If connecting the phone with the battery out, vol down pressed and it still doesn't change into the flash mode you can be sure the usb is dead. (provided the cable is 100% working)
it looks like that might work.
Do you know if Q is older than R and if my phone will auto-update to R?
Status update:
* Manually installed CWM using terminal
* Followed Kag's link and installed that ROM
Rom appears to be fully stock, but I'm not getting an OTA update to v20r.
I need to be on r because q was never officially released, at least not in my country so my phone should not have it.
Any ideas for getting it updated?

That should be due to LG server's load . Guess u could wait for it to appear, eventually, or just create a new 20R.
It looks like it's blocked on the software level and will only let you check once ever X period?

Yes...i believe i once read about that somewhere in here.

S1Boot (Bootloader) Update for Xperia T

Hey,
in latest firmware there is a update to S1Boot (to Version R10A21). I think most users who DONT USE PCC/SEUS will not have the update because Flashtool does not decrypt it correctly.
I packed it up into German Firmware, so if you are interested you can flash this Firmware and then just reflash ANY OTHER Firmware if you dont want to stay on German one. After S1Boot got updated it will stay updated no matter what Firmware you flash afterwards, becasue normally it is not included.
File can be downloaded here from my Firmware collection, directlink to Xperia T folder:

Thanks for that. Do you know what's changed?

Also just check that I should use "Generic DE (S1Boot-Update).ftf" - is this the one you refer to in the OP.?

It is included inside the SEUS files for the 195 Version, but "problem" is that we need to update Flashtool so that it decrypts the File correctly. For now we only added the "alternate" decryption for Loader, now S1Boot seems to be updated too Which is quite good, maybe they add features in future like button for recovery

IT CAN BE that the branding firmwares does NOT include the S1Boot update, maybe that is the reason

But guess what, (Like a noob) i forgot i cant use pccompanion anymore because of unlocked bootloader..D'oh
Anyway, any chance of instructions on how to manually decrypt it (Probably nothing simple) or if I send you the files can you incoorporate them into my .ftf so I can flash it?
I canthen also add a branded vodafobe version with the new boot to the ftf list.

Difficulty
Easy
Time taken
I did it in less than 10 minutes
1. Download one of the .ftf's from the OP that have the s1 boot update in title.
2. make a backup of your current rom
3. Download, install and set up flashtool. (Link in the all in one thread)
4. Drag and drop the .ftf into the open window of flashtool.
5. Tick all the boxes that say exclude except the one that says exclude uncategorized Check the attached image
6. Flash the .ftf following flashtool instructions
7. Reboot phone and check your s1 boot version, it should now be updated
8. Reboot into recovery and restore your backup.
9. You are now on the latest s1 boot with the same rom you had before.
EDIT
Alternative Method.
Flash this LT30_7.0.A.3.195_Generic DE (S1Boot-ONLY).ftf - 725.46 KB
(N.B. It is reported to relock your bootloader, just unlock it again if thats the case, info taken from this post)

[SOLVED] Phone Just Will Not Update (Tried Everything)

Hey guys,
I have a Samsung SIII 4G LTE that I bought in Dec which was a stock Orange UK phone.
It has come with stock Android 4.1.1 Jellybean to which I haven't been able to update since!
I've tried various drivers, uninstalling, re-installing and all variations of plugging the phone in; Kies (have tried various versions of this too, current latest installed) will notify that it needs to be updated, downloads the update and then it just hangs.
I've also tried all variations of MTP, PTP and USB Debugging.
Argh!!! I'm at my wits end and all I want to do is update it; is there a manual way for me to do so and how do I make sure I have the correct firmware to update to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have tried literally everything and no luck whatsoever.
Thanks,
Beans.
Orange updates not Samsung .
Ask Orange if they have updated the firmware .
OTA or via Kies .
Manual update yes but you need to read and understand the basics first .
Basics read first.

stock firmware is usually found on sammobile.com
Thanks JJEgan,
I've contacted Orange and all they say is "Use Samsung Kies to update".
Also, Orange is now EE so is there an EE firmware I should be updating to? Or do I stick to the stock Orange firmware?

Worked ok for me,now on stock with root.
flashing a new rom soon as I'm also now CWM'd
I have the same problem last week. My phone is blocked on Vodafone Romania. I install a custom rom and i'm very happy with it.
Thanks Daniel/Maharu,
Am I correct in thinking I need the 4.1.2 Stock Odin Package from this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942150
Does it come with Odin, or do I need to install this separately? Where can I find it? Do I need any special drivers? Does it do a clean install or do I need to backup everything and restore it post flash with firmware?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm pretty new to all this.

hey guys,
i have a samsung siii 4g lte that i bought in dec which was a stock orange uk phone.
Thanks,
beans.

Thanks Ashraf, is this a clean install or will my data be saved?
the program does say data will be lost but that has not happened to me when i used it. however you can just move anything you want to the external sd card and then remove it before upgrading the phone. also if you want you can save to kies your contacts pictures music video and podcasts before upgrading and then restore after

any problems?
Hi Ashraf,
I just tried it now and Kies froze before I even got a chance to connect the Samsung in Download mode; looks like it wasn't the phone but Kies after all :crying:
So is it a case of using Odin to update now?
Beans
EDIT: Just tried it on another PC and success! Clean install of Android 4.1.2; SUCCESS!!!
Thanks guys, I had all my stuff backed up on my laptop so just restored everything and installed all my apps again.
It's now saying this is the latest firmware, this correct?

Can't upgrade S6 Active from Android 5.1.1 to 6.0.1

Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my phone from android 5.1.1 to 6.0.1. I have follow this thread to do this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...e/downloading-flashing-att-galaxy-s6-t3260744
I was able to upgrade my phone from G890AUCU2AU2AOF4 to G890AUCU3BOJE using ODIN. But I can't upgrade from G890AUCU3BOJE to a newer firmware.
I get the error below when I try to apply this upgrade "SS-G890AUCU3BOJE-to-U3BPB3-UP"
adb like in option 3
Code:
Option 3 - v3 (G890AUCU3BOJE) to v4 (G890AUCU3BPB3) update file (85,9 MB)
I'm getting the error below
Code:
"/system/SW_Configuration.xml" has unexpected contents
E: Error in /sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
I have read your link regarding thet status 7 error, but I don't find a solution.
Can you help me ?
You can see a screenshot of the error using the address below :

Just use smart switch. It is safest and fastest method for upgrading.

Oh, OK.
Messed up CSC configuration causes this error. Try this;
Flash the latest Odin-Flash available FW via Odin. After you've flashed, do factory reset from stock recovery. Then, when the phone boots up, just reboot to bootloader and flash the latest Odin-Flash available FW via Odin again. When the phone boots up, do factory reset from Settings application. After the phone boots up, try to install update via ADB.

We have to wait until ATT makes it available to get the OTA or update via Smart Switch.
There's another thread in here on how to use Odin and load MM, but it's not the 'official' way.

Hi,
I just test your solution. Unfortunatly, this doesn't solve my problem. Do you know if I can download an ODIN version of the firmware for Android 6 and the Galaxy S6 Active ?
