Hi guys,
My phone tells me I can update to 7.0.A.3.223 which when I read the articles about Jelly Bean just being released for this handset I thought would be it but it's not is it?
Is it worth me updating to this if the Jelly Bean update is now landing? Is there alink to the Jelly Bean update so I can do it myself manually?
Thanks - Adam..

There is no official JB update from Sony yet. There is no release date (Except Q1 for 2013, Jan - Mar) for an official JB update from Sony.
So its up to you, there is little difference between 195 and 223 but you will not lose any settings if you update via PCCompanion.

Not if you update via PCCOmpanion. However, if you have unlocked the bootloader then the update will fail. In that case you can make an ftf from the downloaded files and flash that in flashtool. But then you will have to reinstall apps.
Best bet is to always backup apps in TB and make a nandroid backup with recovery. Then you can restore apps and anything you want from the backup.

There is an LG update coming this week. If i install cyanogenmod, will I have to install cyanogenmod once more after installing the LG update? Or will i be able to run the update on CM at all?
if you install cyanogenmod you will not get this update, it's only for stock rom (maybe other roms based on stock too)

Will they put the content in the update into a newer version of CM for 2X?
i'm using cyanogenmod on my lg o2x...if LG will release new firmware for camera, how can i install this firmware?
What if i first wait for the update, and then upgrade to CM after the update is installed?

Then any traces of the update will be removed. CM isn't an alteration of the stock ROM, it's built from source code from the ground up.

Not necessarily, the update may be baseband also, which controls the radio and low level stuff, which is independent from CM

It's probably the update that is supposed to fix the problems. Wich I think next week will be released "in two weeks".

well, ro.secure=0 and debuggable=1 gives no effect. and when i tried to boot TWRP it was black screen. good luck!
Hi, Championswimmer. Would you like to consider hosting your files on Google Drive?
My ISP uses static IP and I can download from those webhosting service websites only rarely.
Been trying to get a kernel going mate, lol, no luck right now. Hope you can get one with TWRP 2.4 out the door.

Look for a newer jelly bean 4.1.2 firmware on the Stock roms thread. Use. 140 build its newer and better.
Even better use jelly bean 4.3
For the system.sin error download flashtool 0.9.18.6 and if the error still appears download ICS and flash it(that worked out for me)

I've an HTC One (Unlocked version) and currently it's running on Android 4.2.2 (preloaded). Today I checked for software update and there's an update available; Jelly Bean 4.3 with Sense 5.5 but I'm curious why doesn't it shows up the latest KitKat update as HTC releases KitKat for HTC One globally recently. The question is do I need to update Android 4.3 before going to KitKat for my HTC One? Secondly, what are the major changes in 4.3 and latest KitKat update (incl. Sense 5.5), RAM Management, Battery life and other changes/effects on phone?

4.4 had huge battery improvements, 4.3 was more about bug fixes (if I recall correctly). But you should update to 4.3 to get the included firmware updates. After you do that, you can root and install a KitKat ROM if you want.

this depends on your CID to get 4.4 KitKat update
you can update to 4.3, after that maybe you'll receive 4.4 update
or you can manually get yourself KitKat ROM & you can enter the world of custom ROMs

Right now I'm in Russia (Moscow). Pakistan is my home town.
If you are willing to update via the "Official way", you should update to 4.3 and then maybe you will receive also 4.4 notification.
As OTA means Over The Air UPDATE, it relies up, that there is something, that it will update (same as with windows updates. you need windows installed prior to installing updates).
Ota doesn't contain complete system image, just instructions which file to replace / delete afaik

Then it's probably either not released for your CID & model combination or your phone is loaded with "custom" version from phone operator.
Try getting application CID GETTER from play store and post your results - top row.
Then your phone model number (written on back side).
Eventually you can discuss the issue in this topic

In my about phone menu I can see the Android version is 4.3 which says to me this is a jellybean ROM. However I seem to be getting conflicting info via Google as to whether this is a kk or jb ROM. Very dumb question since I'm 99 percent sure it's jb but I want to make sure before I go flashing ROMs (safestrap and root installed already)
I appreciate any I formation. Thanks
Mi9, mj5 and Nb4 is jelly bean MLG is leaked kitkat nc2 Is official kitkat

the mj5 jb roms are useable even of youre on nb4, and the kk roms, go in the general section and look for mr. tropazr's thread for more info on how to go to kk from jb. they are all pre-rooted so dont worry about losing root.
Thanks

Hi
Noob here
If someone could shine a light here it would be appreciated.
I have an xperia z1 that I was happy with on jelly bean. The first buggy kit kat upgrade was not pushed to me by my Canadian carrier probably because of the issues. The supposed fixed kit kat did get pushed to my phone ota and I took it.
Short story it sucks. Still lots of bugs
I want to go back to the last jelly bean version 4.3
I read somewhere that I should not flash 4.3 but instead flash the previous version then upgrade to 4.3?
Do I need root to flash a compatible ftf to my phone?
If I do flash to an earlier version of jelly bean 4.2.2 I think? When I upgrade, will it skip the 4.3 and push me to kit kat again?
Thanks in advance
No root needed
Just find a FTF that you want that is compatable with your phone in the Mega Collection thread in the general section. Then flash it with flashtool
All instructions, files and downloads are in that thread

If you flash 4.2.2, Yes, a notification will pup up of the latest version, but you don't have to flash the 4.2.2. Same when you will downgrade to 4.3, you will have the notification so you will have to disable that by hiding notification in Update Center App or disable that app permanently.

I flashed a generic 290 jelly bean ftf to my phone
Though an update notification came up saying there is a 51.2mb update 14.2.a.1.136?
I don't remember getting this when I was on 290 jelly bean. the next update was the 2 kit kat versions

.136 is a newer Android 4.3 version. Then it goes to .681 and then the newest .757.
The easiest is to just flash .757 with Flashtool:

I was on 757 but too many bugs on my phone
battery drain, weird crackling sound from speakers with ringtones and notifications, practically inaudible call volume person can hear me but I can barely hear them even with all volume settings maxed out
there are probably more but just those above made me flash to a jelly bean firmware
