my galaxy note has a problem this morning,big problem i reckon because i couldn't get solution on internet and people who had the same problem did not receive any solution.
the power key is not working properly now.
it cannot lock my galaxy note,and it only works occasionally when i hold the button/key to get Device Options window (silent mode/data network mode/power off/restart/etc).
My galaxy note also restarts itself all the time and I cannot turn it off completely.
Every time I want to turn it of by pressing Power Off from Device Options, my galaxy note is restarting instead of turning off.
I am using ICS 4.04 rooted. I installed ICS 4.04 and rooted it 4 months ago and I've never changed anything ever since.
This problem came up only this morning.

Hi Guys,
I have a frustrating situation whereby my Galaxy Note powers on but the screen appears to be in permanent sleep mode - I get nothing but black on the screen.
You can here the Samsung chime as the phone powers up, I can adjust the volume button and hear audible tones. I can also call the mobile from another phone so the underlying phone/OS is working fine.
I can also connect the device via Kies USB and copy images/music with no issues.
I have tried removing the battery and replacing, I have also tried giving the device a full charge however I still get nothing on the screen.
Does anyone know if it's possible to perform some kind of hardware reset to get the screen to power back on? If not I guess i'll need to return the unit

Same problem for me , i have test many ROM and kernel but i still get the black screen. it's generally when i haven't use my phone during a couple hours.
Same issue here. The screen remains black and not responsive to front button or power button. I still am able to hear notifications (e.g. calendar reminders, plug in power, etc.).
Long press of power button to reboot is the only solution I have found in order to clear.
First occurrence yesterday after owning note for 1 month.
Second occurrence today.
Stock device. No root. KL7.
No newly installed apps prior to first occurrence. I will cross-check to see if any apps updated yesterday.
I have also disabled Green Power.
guys i have been owning note since past 45 days
and suddenly i faced the same problem today
when phone is in sleep and i receive a notification and press the home button
to wake the phone
i see only a black screen with a minute pink dot at top right
and the phone wont respond
however pressing the power button it brings the menu to switch and etc
so i can select power off and then again switch on the phone
guys this is frustrating

My note was replaced yesterday.screen now turns on fine however I'm greeted with a lively green hue and banding! Ha

My phone was working just fine till today morning my phone hung up. As a general response I pressed the power key to lock it. Nothing happened. Nothing. So I waited it out. Soon the phone was back but the power key became totally dead. It wasn't locking the screen. I used the Screen lock app on emanoN rom v4 to lock the phone and it was working. The screen was getting locked. Figuring this must be some freak bug I tool out the battery and restarted the phone. Same problem except now even simply pressing and not long pressing the lock key would prompt the shut down menu. If ignored the phone just casually restarts. This is annoying because if out of reflex i press the power key , my phone will restart. Now, sometimes the power key does do it's job of simply locking and unlocking the phone. But sometimes it just restarts the phone.
I thought this was a problem with the ROM and so i shifted to godell's MORe ROM. Same problem. Now I've shifted to fresh stock 2.3.6 flashed using Odin and I'm still having the same problem. Pressing power does not lock and instead prompts the shut down/restart menu. and Sometimes the phone just restarts at random . Please help me fix this.
I'm going to go for a full downgrade to 2.3.3 [Since my 2.3.6 upgrade just flashed the MODEM*.md5 and CODE*.md5 files]
But before that.. Why is this happening? Is there any fix?

I have completely reflashed to gingerbread 2.3.3 using odin and problem persists.
I do not think this is a hardware issue,because the button's reactivity is just fine. It's just the action that it does after the keyPress.
Your power key problem might be a hardware issue... :| How old is your phone? You might have used it too much. My friends galaxy mini- the volume up button doesnt work because he used it too much.
It's about an year old.. I'd say 10-11 months or so..

My GT-P7310 froze suddenly when I was just browsing. First I waited for a few minutes, but the tab was still stuck on the same screen. So I hold the power button for a minute or so, till the screen went off. And since then my tab doesn't want to get back on anymore..
I already tried to hold the power button for a few minutes, also with volume button up and/or down. I also tried to drain the battery for a few weeks, but still no reaction when I now put back in a little power in the tab. The only reaction that I get from the tab, is when I connect it on the computer by USB. In my driver list I can see the computer is searching for a APX-driver. It's not constantly, because the tabs keeps losing connection to the computer and coming back up, but the driver search is still the best and only sign of life that my tab shows.
My tab was working on a custom rom. No problems with that for at least 6 months and wasn't doing anything like updates or so. So I have no idea why the tab just froze and went to this APX-mode while I was just using a browser app.
I hope someone can help me out with a solution to get my tab back to life? Otherwise I will have to send him back to Samsung and hope..

Guys and friends i have a problem with my gt i9001 galaxy plus, after rooting mobile is workiing fine but now on from last two days, after reflashing my mobile doing weird thing like i put my mobile in my pocket or any where side then mobile goes in sleep mode but sometime by pushing power button or by pressing any keys it does not respond. it does not power of or restart with power. it is like dead dummy untill i remove its battrey plug it again and then it powers on. but after some time it is doing the same process again and randomly.
i have tried changing roms from 2.3 to 4.2 and back again on 2.3 but its condition is same like hell
what should i do... ? please help...

It was running perfectly, I had no issues until 3 hours back! wheneva I just press the power button for switching off the screen, reboot option comes up! and in 2 seconds my phone switches off!
this has happened 2 days before also, I had a case..
so I removed the battery! and then as soon as I inserted it, my phone starts itself, and then again on "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000" it switches off and again restarts, then it boots successfully, then wheneva I press the button sometimes it works, and many times it just does whateva I wrote above!
I did flash cross breeder in the morning and one more script, maybe that has done some **** on this? maybe?
but from then I've flashed almost all the roms, using odin, from GB to JB via Odin!
