Hi All,
Please share your mhl tv out experience using LG Optimus 4X.
I am using S2/S3/htc oneX compatible mhl adaptor that runs with charger connected. I am also using "Screen Standby" app to switch off display while using mhl.
At times it runs flawless but at times signal cuts off for few seconds frequently and hence making it useless specialy if playing games. I have no idea why it runs fine at times and why suddenly it starts giving no signal issue?
Anyone with any advice?

My mhl works beautifully with screen standby , phone gets hot but fine , streamed 720p video over 3g to mhl tv for 5 hours straight yesterday not problems at all apart from charging isn't quite enough (from 100% battery to 40% in that time )

Actually I still havent tested it for hrs of video playback..but what i have noticed is that it most times plays videos fine on stock video player(had played full hd video of 3mins recorded with its camera on my TV) but with games and device in motion suddenly starts giving no signal after every 5-10 seconds, and once this starts happening it even gives same problem with video playback
By the way what cable you using? I am using following mhl adaptor:

you can just copy and share the web address of your mhl cable.
i played more then 30 mins video(watched naruto shippuden episode ) and it played fine but then as soon as i started playing NFS MW it again started to loos signal..i am still confused if its loos connection or OS issue however at times it works fine even with NFS MW.
heating is normal.

Found the item just searched it with item id number of the link. this wire seems better its much longer, mine is very short. and as much as i have noticed when ever i play any game which makes adapter to also move then mhl signal starts to skip so it must be loos connection issue.
So it plays fine until my adapter is moved.
below is the item link which you thought is broken

anyway try searching with mhl instead of hdmi and s2/s3/htc oneX works fine with our lg optimus 4x. I am using it and its fine until i use it as a controller for NFS MW then signal starta to loos may coz of loos connection when in motion...
last night i was playing "Nightmares" with my bluetooth mouse, device heats up but works fine.

What setting are you using on screen standby?
I'm on the V20a rooted JB rom and is wont turn the screen off while on MHL.
The closest I get is if I slide manual brightness to zero and my phone locks and goes to sleep.
HI omnicraft! I initially had problems , it was a while back but I seem to remmeber having to set it manually and then my phone froze until i locked/unlocked it. I uninstalled and re-installed (not sure it makes a difference) , and my current setting are as follows
Zero Brightness [x]
Persistent blank frame [x]
And am using One Two Dim mode with
Survive Screen Lock [x]
and a atimer of 15 seconds.
I have mine enabled on HDMI auto-detection. WHich means when you plug y our MHL cable in it will automatically start, and you can disable it from the notifications bar.
Hope thisr helps !!

what version are you using? I'm using the newest and maybe he changed the way it works. I'm running the 2.0 alpha 9 version
So I don't care if it takes a couple hours for the phone to charge, the problem is that the phone charges to 100% in about 2 hours and I don't think that is normal, I assume the kernel with android hd revolution has fast charge enabled. I have not installed a new kernel. I did but then i flashed a new version of hd revolution, I assume that overwrites the kernel

download an app like trickster mod and see if fast charge is enabled...
ARHD comes with the stock kernel. I believe it is turned off.
I downloaded the app but it doesn't say anything about quick charge. Maybe i am looking into the wrong place where is it in the app.

I believe that HTC has not enabled Qualcomm's fastcharge 1.0 and I think that the fast charge that certain custom kernel will optionally enable is a different thing entirely.
My understanding is fast charge enabled by custom kernel is more accurately called usb fast charge , which will allow greater than 500ma when plugged into pc or laptop usb 3 port for charging.
I don't believe this will alter the charge current or rate when plugged into HTC or other model of ac mains charger

I think you are exactly correct about fast charge. And I've read that people have destroyed usb ports by trying to over-draw them with it enabled.

I installed battery monitor widget and it tells me the amount of current the phone is drawing from the charger and also how much it loses when it's not charging. The phone starts off at a low 220 but when I went to look at how much it was taking in it said 800. How could fast charge be enabled if I don't have it. Maybe the hd revolution has it enabled in the Rom. Is there a way to flash the stock kernel. Thanks

Sorry, I just have to ask...Did you reboot by pressing power and volume up until it turned off?
Install gsam battery app. It'll show you what's using up your Bart and even how much charge you are getting

No. I turned it off the regular way. But I just tested with the method mentioned and nada.
Edit: Native battery charger is showing -483 mA. Only a third party one is showing a better charge of -102 mA.

I am seeing the Photo Analyzer running in the back. Could be the culprit? Are you running any faces (in the "my albums" section of Album app ) or something similar to that?

I've turned it off but nothing.
Is this a known problem with Xperia products as I'm seeing similar results with the SP but not Galaxy Music
Music.
slowly decreasing while plugged in happens under heavy use while low power charging like 2.0 USB port or a low mah charger.
Try a more powerfull charger, turn fast charge on if you are on custom kernel and try not to use your phone to heavy.
-You should even get a notification message that your battery is draining faster then charging. Thats what happens to me while heavy usage on my AkkuCase
