i have viewed many ways to root the kindle fire hd 7", and tried many processes, but somethings not working right. i have the adb drivers installed (i think, windows 7 tells me it is installed) but i cant see my device when i type adb devices in cmd. i also am not very experienced working in cmd, so i might be doing something wrong there. i have rooted the kindle fire about a year ago, but this one's giving me trouble for some reason. can anyone help me solve this issue?
Trying to root my girlfriends Kindle fire HD, but ADB never seems to find it.
Any suggestions on what to do?
I've got the drivers installed on on two computers (win 8, vista). I have ADB turned on in the device.
She has a MAC, and when she tries to use the Root process here it asks for the root password. Neither of us know what that would be.
Any help here?

Thanks, didn't realize it was asking for root on the Mac and not the device.
Device is rooted, now just have to get the market on it and then decide if she wants a different ROM
So I stupidly flahsed Otter2 on my KFHD 8.9. It will not boot at all, black screen, I have already tried fastboot cable. Can I send this to anyone to fix?
Thanks!

Thanks. Is the consensus then that this is a lost cause?
Try to find one that's cracked on eBay and swap out the mainboard
I loaded the wrong boot loader on to my 7" kindle fire HD. Now it's dead. No power, nothing. I know some people were trying to find a solution but I haven't found anything. Please help!

There may or may not be a way to fix it with some soldering, sdcard reader and a Linux live cd, i haven't been as active in the community lately so im not sure how the efforts went with the 7" model, seems like we had it working on all the models except that particular one last i checked. Outside of that a hardbrick is not recoverable.
Having spent two days on this I must ask for help please. I'm an Android novice.
Kindle FireHD 7" stuck on animated white and orange Fire HD splash screen.
I have purchased a Fastboot cable and it boots into, and is recognised in, Fastboot.
It's seen in Windows 7 Device Manager as Kindle Fire - ADB Composite device.
All seems OK, but here's the problem:
I can't get it to be recognised by ADB - 'No Device Detected'
The files that I think I need are in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
however the site hosting the files is defunct and I can't find them anywhere!
I've managed once or twice to get it to 'Kindle is upgrading - Starting Applications' but it just sits there for hours. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware fault?
Could anyone provide me with the files in that thread above and a few pointers please?
Many thanks
What version of the kindle do you have?

Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012 (I think) The one with the shiny stripe across the back
If I remember correctly, adb will not recognize your device when you are connected to fastboot. The only commands you can use are the fastboot commands.
