Well.I found only one thread for this thing. Its in U,P and sola forums but it gave me tons of errors. I prevously worked on 2011 series. There is a peace of cake. I get bootloop when i tryed the method with styles adn apktool.ilm. Then only styles and images in drawable also didnt work. I havent searched alot, sorry for that. But i wanna ask here. I ahve seen two framework-res.apk mods in themes and apps section so i know someone did it. SO could you please dont spam that i should have used the search tool and tell me how to succesefully compile my frameworkThank you

I'm sorry if this question had been asked already, but I've been googling for 2 days and I'm going crazy...
I found tutorials such as this one, but I don't have a statusbar_background.png file in the drawable folder, in there I only have status_bar_background.hml. I have statusbar_background.9.png in the drawable-mdpi folder where the other requested files are also located, but I'm reluctant to use it since I don't exactly know whats the difference between .png and .9.png. Another tutorial , besides statusbar_background.png, also asks for classes.dex, extracted from services.jar, and I don't have this one either. I guess it's a Froyo thing all these little differences, but I don't want to improvise, so can anyone, please, help out with a tutorial or suggestions on how to edit the status bar for this built?
All useful help much appreciated! Thanks!
P.s. I'm uploading the framework-res.apk, extracted from my phone, in case someone needs to see what it consists of and how things are organized inside.
Do I have to deodex? If so, how?
Anybody?
when it comes to modifying the xml files that come with a roms framework, I would have to use backsmali to disassemble the framework odex file right? Provided my rom hadn't already ben deodexed.
After doing that will I still have to decompile the apk before the xml files become tradable again? I've tried looking around for threads on the topics. But all information I can find about these things, the threads don't relate to the same subject so its hard to put compiling and smali together when everything is using different examples to explain themselves.

This guide for modifying android policy might help
Yeah! That's the thread that got me started. But when it comes to using smali I'm not really sure, because the how to's I've read on that really only explain how to deodex files.
I'm trying to figure out what happens next. Because the OP of that thread doesn't go into detail.
Important Update, Please Read:
Here is an idea! I'm gonna write a very easy tutorial for you guys to apply these themes and any other themes you find anywhere else on your devices. This way, you can mod your phone in no time with less hassle and you can start making great themes for everyone. And you don't need to wait for me to do the job .
Let's bring competition to table. I Believe Cyanogen rom is brilliant, however, when it comes to theming, it is way behind Miui fancy UI.
I'm sure many of you guys have different taste, ideas, and can improve the look of the rom.
It is not easy to find all the tutorials in one place and not spending hours in XDA website to learn something. I myself have learned a lot from XDA, other Devs and using try and error method.
These tutorials would be super easy even for someone who had never done theming before. I'm gonna start writing the first part of tutorial today and if I find time I include images too. I will open a new thread and put the link here.
Tutorials will teach u how to theme almost every App you have. There are other guides out there and u r welcome to use theme but makes mine different is that details will be covered. Tutorials should be fast and easy. Im myself get tired ot reading long confusing tutorials and still come up with questions.
First tutorials is ready go to this link
Thank you
Adam
Here is an example of my work, I'm gonna show you how to do something like i did down below.
"For now, I prepared this theme for Nexus one since I have one and if time allows I make more for other devices if you guys vote for it. Should I go for it? You like it? Let me know?
Here is the original thread with the images --> Link
Guys please mention your device name if its not in the list
inspire 4g
xperia x10 here but i believe the nexus one theme is compatible
Also available for a SGS running CM7?
HTC Hero CDMA

Please check this link to find how to apply my themes to your device the easy way. Files are included in the download link in the new thread.

Im trying to change the colour of my roms subtext i have the following files extracted from my rom
twframework-res.apk
framework-res.apk
SystemUI.apk
And i am using APK Manager
I was told i need to edit a xml file located in res/values/ and the file to edit was called subtext colour.
my rom is Checkrom NoteHD v6 its a Touchwiz,Gingerbread rom,
Here is what i did
1.put framework-res.apk in the put apk here for modding folder
2.pressed 22 then 1 then pressed 10 to decompile with dependencies
3.dragged twframework-res.apk onto the cmd window
4 edited the xml- changed the hex colour to #ff33b5e5
5.recompiled and DID NOT SIGN as i read before not to sign system apks.
6,pressed y it is a system apk pressed n on the next question and y i ended up trying both
7.put the unsigned framework-res on the phone OVERWRITING THE ORIGINAL then rebooted and bootloop
Tried this atleast 6 times now even tried dragging in the systemUI.apk just incase it needed that but no joy bootloop over and over again so i give up and im looking for help,

Haha i see my bad I also posted pretty much the same question in another thread but about doing it with ICS and got no reply there. but i decided to go back to Gingerbread so i made a new thread.
Yeeeeeeeeeees i finally figured it out Can a mod close this thread please cheers.
Hopefully some great themers here can help me in the right direction.
I've already spent some times reading about how to decompile, compile etc.
the one i tried is TMA (tickle my android), first i got several problems because he wouldn't decompile framework-res. I've found out that you need to install the semc....-res file before you can decompile framework-res and the other way the same.
so that's working great now, and it also recompiles and i can make a flashable zip but i keeps getting in bootloop.
i've found out that there's something special about sony's framework-res and these problems can happen but i can't seem to find the right way for the Xperia T to solve this problem.
could someone tell me how or direct me to guides that are suitable for the Xperia T?
I've tried theming several times and i always get stuck somewhere the process but i really want to learn!
thanks in advance for all the help..

If i was being funny, i would have told you to use the search function at the top of the page.
When your navigating through your phone it can be quite difficult to search, find and post links for people. Id rather just post a whole load of links in one go as it's quicker and easier.
I didnt have to respond to you, im busy repairing fridges and took a quick break, maybe i shouldnt have bothered. Or maybe i just wont respond anymore and keep what i know to myself.

no, no, i'm sorry.. i thought you just wanted to link me to google for asking a "stupid" question.
my bad, please forgive me!
i really appreciate your help.
You need to do this first -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41373722&postcount=2
After that you can do anything you want in your framework, wether theming or modding.
Edit: hehehe I guess dully nailed it already LoL, my given link is the same actually
Tapatalked from my bricked TX
thank you both, i took me some time and errors but i've finally got it working.
first i tried with stock framework to learn the decompiling/compiling signing process and it worked.
now i'm trying e few mods, my first one doesn't work (50% transparent statusbar), i did this mod thru TMA (which has this mod as option).
maybe google it and make the mod myself..
hmm second one doesn't work either, i looked thru google on how to remove the statusbar clock. it all went well(recompiling and flashing) but the clock is still there..
