[Q] CM 10.1 Latest on 7310 - Gapps Problem & USB problem - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

I installed 10.1 tonight from stock 8.9 ICS. No issues except:
1) When I go to install Gapps gapps-jb-20130121-P75xx.zip (from the thread) I get:
E: Can't copy META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary
Installation aborted.
2) I have a USB dongle I can plug a flash drive in to. Doesn't look like I can use that anymore? Not a huge loss I guess if so.
Thanks!

Could be a bad download of gapps. Try downloading it again and check the md5.

Thank you. It was a corrupt download - okay now.
I still can't see the USB drive through the dongle.

Can't help you on the dongle, but I'm guessing the rom you installed doesn't support it.

[Q] Problem installing gapps 20110828

I can't install latest release of gapps.
Clockworkmod (4.0.0.9) says there are problems in the zip file and the installation aborts.
I've already checked md5sum and signatures inside the zip file, they're fine.
Any suggestions ?
thanks

Same error, I've found this (I can't paste url...) pastebin.com/b4vyNiNm (someone seems to have the same problem)
looks like broken package, same here. maybe someone with other version of cwm can give it a try?
Tried with newest cwm 5,worked like a charm

Not with your files but I had touch recovery the old one and did the upgrade thru rom manager and I had error couldn't install anything had Status error ( 0 ) and couldn't mount anything had en error saying couldn't open UMS Lunfile, but I flashed your Touch zip and it's working fine now so ppl shouldn't be worried to try it.
Worked for me anyways, Thanks
What you able to do in the latest CWM 6.0 is:
-New Background UI
-Faster Backup & Restore
-And some elements added (only for gnex)
I'm getting "E:Unable to open UMS lunfile (no such file or directory)" on crespo touch recovery when i try mount usb storage. The odd part is it works fine on non touch. On another note the new format is bad for those who use a CWM backup to convert to flashable rom (eg right after an ota).
Other than that they did a cool job on the updated ui.
I flashed 6.0.0.7 with ROM manager. But when I reboot into recovery, it is still showing recovery version as 5.0.2.0.

Same here. i9023. Updated from within ROM manager.
Something weird happened, after trying the new twrp and now this, I can't restore backups or install kernals, it wont boot, it just reboots into the recovery menu. Anyone know anything about this?
Worked like a charm this was easier than my HTC sensation putting teamwin touch recovery on it, this just what I was waiting for thanks man, I recommend the touch recovery

This is awful and weird. I have tried all of the recoveries and I cannot flash a kernel or a backup now. I can flash ROMs and gapps. When I try to flash a kernel it will only boot back to the recovery menu. Then I have to flash the ROM again to get it to boot. It all happened after trying the new jelly bean ROM and trying the new twrp. I made a backup of jb and tried to restore my ics and that's when it happened. I had to wipe all and flash aokp fresh.

you didn't understand well. you can still flash zips from SDC. it's the USB mount (mass storage mode) which is broken for the moment

I stick with it... allways you can push the file trough adb
Code:
adb push myfile.zip /sdcard
I've PMed Koush to tell him this...
I saw that some devices got an update to the 6.0.1.5 version. it should be updated very soon for us too, as Ricardo is well active
I saw it too, but I don't know if that update includes our problems...
I don't think so too, our problem should be isolated and device specific. but since the first listed device is a P930, it may have the same problem as the P970. well, we'll see
I dont know for you but i get sd card mount problem with this version
I can't make backups with this CWM, like, while backing up the CWM stops working for a while and after that come back to principal menu
Hi
One of my friend has installed this update. He has the following matter:
He doesn't have any access to the external sd card neither on the phone nor the recovery mode but he can see the extsd on his computer...
Thanks for your help .
Can't get sd-card mounted either, i'll post the log if i can figure out how i can copy the log.

[Q] Missing Google Play

After a lot of trouble I managed to get my pfone to work.
I have a GT-S5830
Android 2.3.7
Kernelversion: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL882825 [email protected] #21
Modversion: CyanogenMod-7.2.0-cooper
The problem now is that i don't have Google Play.
Please give instructions to install Google Play.
You need to flash gapps. Look in the ace theme and apps forum

Whitch version do I have to look for? I already see 4 different versions: CM 7.1-7.2 / Gingerbread / ICS / Jellybean.
Maybe there are more versions, I don't know.
Yes, I might bee a NOOB but so be it.
And please give me a small "how to" lecture.
For cm7

How do I install this?
Transfer to SD > recoverymode > install from SD ???
Odin ?? (never used odin before)
Kies ?? (rather don't want to use Kies)
Or is there a other way to install Google Play?
Please some instructions.
I don't want to mess up my phone again...

Should this be te right procedure?
In CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6.
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard
gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Yes - install gapps-gb-20110
If so then I have a problem. CWM tries to install but after 2 seconds it says:
E:can't open /sdcard/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
Please help...

As far as i'm concerned this threat can be closed.

Nook HD only boots to Cyanoboot/CWM

It was working flawlessly on cm11 however my little boy said it will no longer boot up correctly and has started to only load up Cyanoboot. I assume he may have done a system update that has made it go wrong. I followed the tutorial for how to unbrick a nook (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836) with the idea of starting fresh however I cant get it to boot from the SD card. I have restarted it countless times but only ever end up back at Cyanoboot.....could anyone help me out?

That tutorial is for a Nook Tablet. Those files will not work on the hd. Go to my hd/hd+ cwm thread linked in my signature and make a new CWM SD per item 1a. Then flash the plain stock rom from item 6 followed by a factory reset.

sorry for the delayed reply - only just got round to attempting this - I have followed along fine but everytime I try to flash a zip file i get "Can't open ....."

Installation aborted.
I have redownloaded the files multiple times to rule out a bad download - any other ideas?
EDIT: Disabled anti virus and redownloaded the zips again - can flash unknown sources etc but still cant flash a stock rom (same problem of (bad) install aborted)
Thank you
