I has just tested it on my TX, but it maybe can be used for T & V too. I don't know. You do this on your own, don't blame me.
Thanks for everyone who developed the method for Xperia S, Darkfunnyguy for provide his method, thebodom for files, and anyone who tested in their devices.
YOU MUST HAVE UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, ROOTED BEFORE DO THIS.
1.Turn on your phone.
2.Clear data for Download Music Info and all Walkman apps, under settings>apps>all
3.With Root Explorer or any root manager, copy CredentialManagerService.apk from the file you download your SD card.
4.Copy that apk from SD card to /system folder
5.Change permissions to rw-r-r
6.Move that CredentialManagerService.apk in /system folder and paste in /system/app
7.Delete .odex file for CredentialManagerService if you're on a odexed stock ROM.
8.Shutdown and flash stock kernel with Flashtool using the kernel from the FTF file of the Firmware you
are currently using by downloading the ftf file below, be sure to not wipe Data(you will loose apps)
and System(you will loose root. Uncheck wipe data and check Exclude System.
9.Relock your bootloader by downloading the FTF file below. Turn on your device.
10. Turn on Video and enjoy. If you have auto-reboot everytime you go to root explorer, JUST FLASH FULL FIRMWARE AGAIN, it won't take your bravia away.

Sorry, but why need Relock bootloader? I think for the above description of the operations is enough to have the root.

The Bravia engine doesn't work once you unlock the bootloader, so it stands in good sense that to fool it, you would need to re-lock the bootloader.

Hi… I have an Xperia T with unlocked bootloader. I was trying to install a game that needs to paste some files in the android/data folder, but I didn`t can (through the pc and some file explorers). This is a big deal because I can’t use apps that need to create files in this folder, like real racing 3 and google earth.
I keep receiving this error in my pc when I try to create a folder:
“The new folder could not be created in this location. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected”
I had tried to write the folder in the phone but I keep receiving an error (different for each file explorer, I tried with es explorer, file expert, root explorer, solid explorer…)
I can’t certainly say when this started, but I can name the modifications that I had made to my device recently:
Updated it to 9.1.a.1.141 from 489 through flashtool
Since the 141 firmware didn’t have (at that moment) a way to install the CWM, I had to flash the kernel of the 489 over the 141 and then install the CWM for the 489
Since I have the problem with the folder I tried to:
Go back to the 489 firmware, updated to 141 from pc companion (unsuccessfully, because I get an error that says that the phone had been modified, maybe because I unlocked bootloader)
What can I do? I search in XDA forums and in google for hours and I didn’t find a solution. I would be very grateful if you help me. Thanks
PCCompanion will not work with an unlocked bootloader
If you install doomkernel and then the following root package on the new firmware you will be OK

its the superuser app and busybox app you need to organise apps that want root access.

ha, there is only one to choose.
Goto the development section in this forum and then you have only two choices, T or TX, choose the one for your phone.

@shem2409 created a nice youtube video guide to assist you in your work, be sure to check this post for it! Thanks m8!
The C6602 ROM is based on the FTF provided by @macallen in this thread. Thanks dude
The C6603 ROM is based on the FTF provided by @NetSkill in this thread. Thanks dude
In the following guide I suggest you use an external SDCard but that's just good practice, you can use your internal storage or even an USB OTG storage device in TWRP if you like to install, that's no problem!... If you are modding and the likes, best is to have an external sdcard, just for safeties sake.
C6602: How to update to 10.3.1.A.2.67:
For C6602: Download C6602.flashable.67.zip (Bittorrent: 696MB) and C6602_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf (15MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'C6602.flashable.67.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C6602_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'C6602.flashable.67.zip' in recovery, do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C6602_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf';
Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.
C6603 & C6606: How to update to 10.3.1.A.2.67:
For C6603 & C6606: Download C6603.flashable.67.zip (Bittorrent: 749MB) and C6603_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf (15MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'C6603.flashable.67.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C6603_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'C6603.flashable.67.zip' in recovery, do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C6603_10.3.1.A.2.67_Stripped.ftf';
Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.
The first boot will be considerably slower and after a long wait at the boot animation you will see Android optimizing the apps on your phone.
C6603 USERS WHO INSTALLED THE C6602 ROM ONLY:
Although much is the same, it's best to follow the guide as described above, just to be sure your phone gets set back to being what it really was: a C6603
NOTE: You will eventually/inevitably get the triangle screen again after doing this update (typically after you shut down your phone to reboot it without an actual reboot command), you will have to sit this one out it seems, it keeps coming back until it's done...
DO NOT INTERRUPT IT, LET IT RUN AND DO IT'S THING! you have been warned!
NEW: DE-ODEX your ROM!
Download deodex.67.zip (Bittorrent: 393MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'deodex.67.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'deodex.67.zip' in recovery, do not reboot but go back to the main menu;
Clear dalvik-cache ONLY;
Reboot to system.
The first boot after following this guide will take considerably longer again and after a long wait at the boot animation you will see Android optimizing the apps on your phone.
I have done this myself, using this method and I have not found any problem yet, again! :fingers-crossed:
Enjoy! :laugh:
Known XZDualRecovery Issues:
Busybox Updater/Installer: If you have XZDualRecovery installed, un-install any Busybox updating app/tool as most if not all of them will install a version of busybox which does not support the lzma compression applets XZDualRecovery depends on. The version installed together with XZDualRecovery is very stable and I have yet to hear anyone complain about it's stability.
How to report errors:
Please, before shouting out "It doesn't work!!1!" or "I lost root!" or even "My phone reboots when remounting /system RW!!" try the following:
Restore a /system ONLY using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
Root it using [Z][ROOT] DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.
Install XZDualRecovery and then try to update again using TWRP. This time you can skip the FTF as it has already done it's job.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /tmp/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me.
Thank you
Thanks Mate -cheers-
works like a charm rooted with Dual Recovery
cheers dude ^^

They ARE for the C6602 and no, there isn't any C6603 version yet. That's why i instruct you to keep the 244 baseband, to keep LTE.
I have a C6603 as well (see sig), and the image from the OP is made with that. You see it identify itself as a C6602, but yet, i still have LTE

That's simple: turn off the phone, have flashtool ready to flash (where it instructs to connect the USB lead), then while holding the VOL-DOWN button, connect the USB lead. :good:

No, from what i have understood, it's not a hardware problem but a library issue in vanilla android 4.2.2 ... we'll just have to wait for Sony to permanently fix this.

IMPORTANT:
This method is now obsolete and not needed, we are able to root directly onto 4.3 now thanks to geohot, please see towelroot thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
OLD METHOD:
I see many threads about rooting Android 4.3, especially with locked bootloaders, along with many users getting confused about it so decided to make this guide on how to get root on your Android 4.3 device
Unfortunately there is no method to root directly on the Xperia T/TL/TX/V with Android 4.3, we must downgrade first!
Step 1, Getting flashtool installed:
You need to download flashtool and install the latest drivers, this can all be found here and here
Step 2, Getting your device running Android 4.1.2 which is rootable!:
You need to download a 4.1.2 FTF file, I recommend using this one if you are an Xperia T user,
Use this one if you are an Xperia V user.
Use this one if you are an Xperia TX user
although any will do as long as has a build number earlier than 9.1.A.1.141
Next what you need to do is open up flashtool which you installed in Step 1. Next click on the lightning bolt button which is the flash button, flashmode should be selected by default, click OK!
Now you are in the firmware selection area, navigate to where you downloaded the FTF file using the browse button in the top right.
Select the correct firmware, then click OK!
It'll process a bit, then will tell you to connect your device, firstly put your cable into the computer/laptop first, then hold down the volume down button on your device and connect the micro USB part to the device.
If all goes well it will start flashing, finish and tell you to restart the phone, the process could easily take 15 minutes, so be patient.
Step 3, Lets root the device:
Try rooting with the root option within FlashTool
Should that not work try this:
You want to download bin4rys rooting toolkit, which is found here and here
This part you will be walked through in the command prompt of the toolkit, it will tell you what to do and when, it is very simple!
Step 4, Now we're rooted, we want a recovery:
Now we need to get CWM recovery for locked bootloaders installed!
Download CWM installer here
Next extract the folder to somewhere on your computer, connect your phone to the computer, remember to allow unknown sources to be installed and to allow usb debugging, these can be found in 'security' and 'developer options' respectively.
Once done, double click on 'install.bat' and let the installer do it's magic.
If you have issues with this step, take a look at the 'Unable to enter recovery' section in the CWM for locked bootloaders thread here
Step 5, Download a rooted 4.3 update:
If you are an Xperia T user download from here
If you are an Xperia V user download from here
If you are an Xperia TX user download from here
Now transfer the package to the SD card on your device.
Next you want to power off your device, once that is done power back on, when you hit the first vibrate you should see a blue led, start repeatedly pressing the volume up button, the led should turn green and you will enter into CWM recovery.
RECOMMENDED: Now you are in recovery you should do a complete wipe data/factory reset, now this can be skipped but if it leads to errors and problems then you may need to go back to step 1, you have been warned!
Head to install zip from SD card and locate to where you downloaded the file, then flash the file!
Step 6, Enjoy:
You should now be all up to date with Android 4.3 and have root access, feel free to comment and ask questions in the thread if you are having problems or things didn't work as they should.
You also now should have PhilZ Touch Recovery installed which will allow you to install mods, make backups etc. To enter it is the exact same procedure as for CWM earlier on!

Fair enough, if it works for some people they can go this method. OTA updates with root isn't fool proof though so some users may find they loose it.
This is also more for people who have already OTA updated and don't have root

First of all we have many dedicated threads to teach you step by step about rooting XZR.
For help I can give you a hint of how you must do it in short :-
1. Downgrade your phone from Kitkat to jellybean 4.1
2. Download doomloard's toolkit to root phone without unlocking bootloader.
3. As now you you have rooted your phone, now download Backup TA toolkit to backup your TA so as to keep bravia and warranty for your phone for future. Save this TA backup file with your life.
4. Now Upgrade to Kitkat. As now you have your TA backup, you can unlock bootloader from Sony Developer site help.
5. You can look for a software called Flashtool and download it. This is going to help you in further things.
6. Now unlock your bootloader.
7. Now Flash a boot image which has a recovery and is for XZR.
8. Download a flashable zip file for installing SuperSU.
9. Flash that file using that recovery.
10. Flash the kernel from the downloaded firmware of Kitkat using flashtool.
11. Start your phone and you may find SuperSU installed in your phone.
12. Now comes the part to keep your Bravia engine alive. As you have taken a backup of your TA, open the Backup TA tool after activating developer mode and USB Debugging.
13. Then connect your phone, restore TA partition to your phone.
14. Now what you have is :- i). Rooted Kitkat on phone. ii). TA partition for future restoring of your TA after unlocking the phone.
All these above steps I have written here have a altogether a complete explanation. Now it's your turn to read them from here XDA. Go ahead and read more before asking anymore. The more you read, the less noob you are. :good:

Thank you for this guide. I really really appreciate it.
1. Wanted to know if it's not a problem to downgrade directly from 4.4.2 to 4.1/4.2?
2. No special things required to do? Just back up user data?
3. Use androxyde flashtool and use any region 4.1/4.2?
Just wanted to really make sure before i try doing this. Since i bought the phone recently and kitkat is just killing me with sdcard restrictions.

What you really need is right ftf file for your phone region isn't the problem and yes there is nothing special required to downgrade from any version to any version as far as ftf file is correct and is for correct device. You are good to go :good::good:
You can try root your zr kit kat use Towelroot. Some of the z and zr owners managed to get root even in lock bootloader. I already tested on my zr JB 4.3. Lockbootloader. Work flawlessly.
I did it!

Well as you have backed up your ta now you can choose any rooting methods available. It could be conventional method that we already know our it could be the towel root that our friend here is talking about. Enjoy being the real admin of your device

You did nothing wrong. Link2SD or alike won't work on 4.2 and up . If you need to move apps to the SDCard you'll have to use FolderMount. You can move up to 3 data folders with the free version and it works great especially if you have apps with big data folders (like games). However, if you need to move more than 3 data folders, you'll have to get the Premium version.
Good going.

Our friend here is right. These apps were made for gingerbread mainly, and alas they don't work on JB+. So what you need to do is understand more about folder mount before starting to use it. Learn more about it before making your move.
Silly question perhaps i don't know about. I'm on a stock ROM, rooted, still locked bootloader, and I cannot enter stock recovery. How do i possibly do that? I used the power+volup, power+voldwn, used root power options to boot recovery but I cannot.
Any information should help.
Thanks guys.

There is no recovery in stock.
Install one for XZR. @sijav has nice working dual recovery on the forum here for XZR, I personally use that as it doesn't require us to unlock bootloader. Here you can find it :- Dual Recovery
Press thanks if I helped

Is there a way to unroot?
Hi everyone,
I know my title just explained everything
but i will explain in details now here
i bought an Xperia Z1 after burning my Xperia Z because of over heating it.:angel:
anyway
all what i wanted to do is rooting my Xperia Z WITHOUT installing another firmware UNLESS there's a way to not lose my data.
i guess what i have not is a half root, i have SuperSU installed
CWM installed BUT i can't access it. i only access it by flashing it again from the PC, its like one time use only :silly:
anyway i installed supersu and rooted the device
root checker says congratulations you have root access
busybox says install was not successful try another path AND i tried another path which leaded me to the same result
the problem is
I DON'T HAVE THE WRITE PERMISSION IN THE SYSTEM!!!
HELP?!
KitKat 4.4.2 Xperia Z1 LTE - 14.3.A.0.757
Reflash your pre rooted rom. I experienced the same problem. I couldnt get access to root. Flash on recovery.

Hello.
I was experiencing the same problem after rooting 14.3.A.0.757 on my Xperia Z1. I searched the forums and found that the problem is due to Sony's RIC service. Correct me if I am wrong. Updating to the latest XZDualRecovery will solve the problem.
This is what I did: (I am assuming you have a working rooted 14.3.A.0.757)
Download the latest flashable zip from NUT's XZDualRecovery thread in Cross-Device Development and flash it via recovery. You have now upgraded your recovery to the latest version. Now you can mount system partition with r/w.
