Back to stock without computer - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
my friend has a Galaxy Note that still has warranty, but the USB port is broken. He has some custom rom installed and we need to put the stock rom back on, so he can send it in and let them repair it.
Is it possible to get back to stock (complete with recovery etc) without using the USB port?

yes use mobile odin to flash the stock official gb or ics.. and yeah this is a hardware issue not a software so i don't think the sammy cc need to do anything with what rom you have

We already contacted them, and they said that we need to flash the stock rom first.
Thanks for the tip.

I have the stock Rom in a single file format. How do I use this with Mobile Odin?
edit: I found it, sorry.

[Q] Interesting error...can run cyanogen but not stock ROM

So if I reinstall the stock ROM from another Galaxy Ace (same one this thing shipped with), the phone doesn't boot, at all.
I put Cyanogen back on, and it boots fine, but my data connection never works and my voice/messaging connection constantly craps out and I need to reimage again. (Weird...if I go back to a working image, then reinstall my current one, it works fine.)
I'm at a loss...but I'm only one step away from returning it anyway.

Something like that, only it doesn't loop. When I load up a stock rom, it simply hangs at he startup "Samsung Galaxy Ace" screen.
after installing your stock rom wipe your cache and dalvik it will work , if not , use odin and flash a different stock firmware first may be KPN or KPH
Irishred is that the stock koodo 2
3.4 rom? I've been looking everywhere for that, could you post a link maybe as I'm sure there are others looking for this also.
Thanks

Well, if you can't flash the stock rom, there's only one thing to do then.
Use ODIN. T_T
It'll push your recovery back to the stock crap too, but then again, there's no reason why it shouldn't work, anyway.
there might be case that it works but you are too lazy to find solution for it to work
what problem you have when you flash stock roms with odin??
You have to flash via Odin, because your internal memory was formated to ext and the stock rom uses a different (I don´t really know which is used by stock rom, but you can google it.)

This is what I was suspicious/worried about. Okay...now to learn to use Odin.
I just found this on sampro.pl I'm at work now so I can't download. Have a look

EXT format issue ?
Just a thought...
I once installed a Cyanogen rom on a Galaxy S that changed something in the memory - and stock rom was not working afterwards. I had to go back to Cyanogen. Too bad if you're planning on selling it in stock rom condition.
The only way back was to find a stock rom that contained the whole package - including correct pit file, pda, modem and a repartition of memory.
Flashed via Odin.
Is it a one file/multiple files package? Kernel update?
I hope any of this is can help you solve the problem.
It is a one file package. Password is sampro.pl. It is multi-csc for koodo & telus. Mine loaded up telus so i had to change it. It works great. I will go back to myth ics rom. Its just nice to know that if I need to return to stock I can.

Wow, been looking for this
Will give it a try, Thanks!
Edit: Works great, all back to stock Koodo (temporarily). Thanks again for posting Spider, XD
just to add...
I experimented with a few custom ROMs but they rendered some functionalities un-usable. I tried to recover from a full system and data backup which failed.
From that: 1)Followed instructions from androidadvices.com (androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-xwks9-gingerbread-235-firmware/-- page 2) But used stock ROM for Koodo (GT-S5830D S5830DTLKI4) from spidre9909's post;
-- a download link to ODIN is included...
2)Rooted the phone and re-installed Clockwork;
3)Restored my full backup created just before my trials with custom ROMs
Now I am back! At this point, follow unroot procedures — if you want to…
Hope this helps...
DXKPB is the firmware I know that includes data.rfs (which means your /data would get formatted with rfs, and that means stock ROM will love your phone again)

it's interesting you mention that your wireless connection doesn't work properly. I flashed the newest firmware (something from vietnam I think) and the same thing ... my connection keeps waffling back and forth from H to 3G to nothing at all.

[Q] How to restore the factory default ROM on G-Note?

Hi,
I installed RocketRom v.23 and so far it is great, aside from some minor issues.
However, as I need to return the phone back for some other reason, is there any way to find what was the original ROM on my phone before I install this custom ROM on top of it? Maybe from the IMEI or sth???
PLEASE ADVICE cause I know they will not accept it without the original ROM.
It is not possible to know
But you can find ROm for your country from here N flash it with PC Odin.
I think you can check the date of your purchase invoice of the device and find a rom released before that date and flash it. You can find the date adjacent to rom details in Dr. Ketans thread.

this is the answer. you dont need the exact rom on your phone before. you need to find any rom that you could have upgraded your phone over kies.

I have a touchy USB connector. Any risk when flashing?

Hello,
I am about to get ready to start flashing roms with my phone (Still on 2.3.5 after all this time because I didn't want to touch ISC after reports of bricking). If I understand correctly Odin basically takes care of Everything now?
My largest concern is with my USB port; Last time I messed with flashing was with the Dell Streak, which was fraught with winding flashing paths that often needed to enter a USB recovery mode that could cause Bad Things to happen if something broke. Back to my Note's USB port. It's a bit touchy and often time randomly cuts out.
So tl;dr version: Going from stock 2.3.5, is it possible to flash custom roms without touching my USB port?
Thanks in advance to any replies.

mine too is a bit dicky, if i slightly move it, it will stop charging.
best thing to do is, Order a new one
Or... connect it, dont touch it and then attempt to flash, If it cuts out without you even touching it, I would advise not to flash at all. if it loses connection mid-flash, it can brick your phone into an unrecoverable state.
What are you attempting to flash anyway ? most things can be done on the phone itself, either through recovery or mobile odin.
Yeah that's sort of the question I was asking. Is it possible to install new roms on my phone without touching the USB port. Last time I bothered with custom roms was around two or three years ago, when things were a bit more touchy.

Could you give me a rundown of what mobile Odin can do? If I just install that (and if I get the pro version because I likes my roots), could I install CM10 or leaked jellybean roms?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
mobile odin can be used to flash the roms that can be flashed by PC odin. TAR.<MD5.. Pro version can retain root when flashing and more over you have the choice to flash a different kernel at the same time flashing the rom.
CM10 needs to be flashed using CWM.. leaked JB roms downloaded in a tar format can also be flashed using Mobile odin
Thanks.
Can I install CWM without using my USB port?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
yes, download philz kernel and flash it via stock recovery, this will then give you root and CWM recovery which will allow you to flash anything you want.

How to install stock Rom

My phone's usb (charging) port is not working properly. My phone is under warranty so I want to Send it to service center but problem is that I am on a custom Rom. I need to flash non rooted stock Rom .I can't use pc odin because of usb issue.
Can this be done through mobile odin or CWM.please help
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Yes can be done through mobile ODIN. Look out for the thread of mobile ODIN pro. And this is a hardware problem purely, and I don't know if you have to even unroot and stuff like that. Just for the look, you might go to a TW based ROM for some time
Should this be made a sticky? I guess it should, a fairly common problem for our note.

Flashing stock rom without Odin

I'm having problems with my S6500D: I can't use Odin, no PC can detect my cell right (tested in 5 diferent PC's). I sent my cell to Samsung SAT, it's in warranty, but they say that is because I've manipulated software so they don't repair it free (85€, they said). So I'd like to reinstall stock rom without using Odin, no matter from Windows or Linux.
Is there any way to do it?
Thanks.
Did you try with different usb cables?
do you have kies installed on any of your PC's
Sent from my GT-S6500 using Tapatalk 2
If kies don't work try to download samsung usb device . google it.
and if this don't work too you can search on google gt-s6500(d) flashable firmware.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for all those answers. I've tried everything you say, but nothing. I need an original firmware than could be flashed via CWM.
An other help?
Yes. In my blog there are stock roms flasheable by cwm. Is Spanish Rom, so you must change csc after in order to use kies.
This stock Rom is a bit modified, it has root, busybox, ads removed, etc
Complete web: http://galaxy-mini-2.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/stockroms-para-flashear-por-cwm.html?m=1
Link to s6500d phe rom : https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9VB4sHDNRquMGNWeWdSTU02YVk/preview?pli=1
You must flash this too after flashing the ROM: http://www49.zippyshare.com/v/7424421/file.html
If not, you'll have memories changed sd-ext like int and int like ext
You must make all wipes, format system and install the rom
If you want I have Samsung usb drivers too : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bk9fqmdb1svz97q
Press thanks if helped

Did you try to wipe everything in CWM, then flash one of the stock based roms? You can find the roms here at forum.

The problem was to find a stock rom that could be installed via CWM. Thanks to Manu19TheBest I've done. Now I can use my PC to access my cell. And Samsung Service told me to change mother board, 85€, they are robbers!!!!
